Weather satellite data shows there has been no global warming for 18 years

October 1, 2014

global-warming4Happy Anniversary everybody! What anniversary am I talking about? Well, if you read this post that I wrote last week you know that today marks the 18th anniversary (at least) of there being no global warming.

Are you still one of the what now appears to be ever-shrinking members of the global warming alarmist club? If so you should check out this story because the director of the Earth System Science Center at the University of Alabama/Huntsville and a former NASA scientist have analyzed the data from several weather satellites and the have confirmed that the earth’s temperature plateaued at least 18 years ago.

  Here is more:

The Earth’s temperature has “plateaued” and there has been no global warming for at least the last 18 years, says Dr. John Christy, professor of atmospheric science and director of the Earth System Science Center (ESSC) at the University of Alabama/Huntsville.

The “plateau” is evident in the climate record Christy and former NASA scientist Roy Spencer compiled using actual raw temperature data collected from 14 instruments aboard various weather satellites.

When he was asked about the models and how they were wrong Dr. John Christy had a simple answer: nobody really understands how the climate works so there is no way to accurately predict what is it going to do.

“You’re going back to a fundamental question of science that when you understand a system, you are able to predict its behavior. The fact that no one predicted what’s happened in the past 18 years indicates we have a long way to go to understand the climate system,” Christy replied.

He went on to say the following:

Christy added that basing government policy affecting millions of Americans on “very poor” climate models that have been shown to be inaccurate is “a fool’s errand.”

“Our ignorance is simply enormous when it comes to the climate system, and our understanding is certainly not strong and solid enough to make policy about climate because we don’t even know what it’s going to do, so how can we make a policy that says ‘I want to make the climate do something’ when we don’t know what makes the climate do what it does?” he asked.

“And that the way the predictions were wrong were all to one direction, which means the predictions or the science is biased in one direction, toward overcooking the atmosphere.”

“A policy is supposed to have a goal. Well, if you don’t know how the system works, that means you don’t know how to make it go toward that goal. And that’s certainly the case now, since none of the climate models are able to tell us what the future is going to be. They’ve certainly failed in the past. And so the policy is really a fool’s errand at this point.”

However, he noted that “there is still a strong belief system that greenhouse gases control the climate, and so if that is your belief system, then it doesn’t really matter what the evidence shows.”

I agree with almost everything he said in the last quote except for when he talks about the Federal government’s goal. He claims that because in order to create a policy you have to have a goal, and that because we do not know how the climate works there is no way the government can create a policy to attain the goal.

Normally I would agree with this statement but the problem with this is the fact that he apparently believes the government’s goal is an environmental goal when it is not, it is a political goal which they are seeking and that is why they are able to move forward, and that is why it “does not matter what the evidence shows.”

We can’t pump all that carbon into the atmosphere without something eventually happening.

We may disagree about exactly what will happen (heating Vs cooling), but for sure, something is going to happen.

And if we don’t know exactly how bad this “something” is going to be, doesn’t it make sense to stop pumping all that carbon into our air?

It’s a bit like kicking a dog. You know it’s going to do something in response to your unwelcome kicking, but you have absolutely no idea what it will be. So why do it.

Politicians and those controlling the mega wealth are the only ones who can implement appropriate action, but they won’t. Their agendas and other interests lure them away from listening to advice from the experts.

This cartoon looks at that aspect . . . .

How rediculous that scientists, politicians, hollywood idiots and the money changers would let science and the facts play any part in their myopic agenda.

Yeah, “Quit confusing the money changers’ plan with the facts!”
