What did the NIH budget prioritize over Ebola research?

October 16, 2014

The head of the NIH, Francis Collins, tried to blame budget cuts for the fact the Federal government is ill-prepared for a possible outbreak of Ebola in America. (By this they mean Republican budget cuts.)

“NIH has been working on Ebola vaccines since 2001. It’s not like we suddenly woke up and thought, ‘Oh my gosh, we should have something ready here,'” he said. “Frankly, if we had not gone through our 10-year slide in research support, we probably would have had a vaccine in time for this that would’ve gone through clinical trials and would have been ready.”

However there is one problem with this excuse and it is the fact that the CDC actually got an 8% budget increase in 2014, which was more than even Barack Obama was asking for. (Oh, and one more thing; the one part of the budget which was cut came at the request of Barack Obama.)

  Here is more:

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) got an “8.2 percent budget increase for fiscal 2014, thanks to a $1.1 trillion spending bill announced by Congress Jan. 13.” In addition, the CDC received more funds than Obama had requested because of Congress. According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, the CDC’s $6.9 billion “is $567 million more than it received in 2013, “and “this is more than the agency anticipated, because the president’s fiscal year 2014 budget request for it was just $6.6 billion — a decrease of $270 million from fiscal 2012.”

So with that fantasy out of the way we must look at what the NIH decided to spend its fortune on, and here is a partial list:

According to the Daily Mail, the NIH budged included “$2.4 million for a new condom design whose inventor is now being investigated for fraud,” $939,000 to discover that “male fruit flies prefer younger females,” $257,000 “to create a companion website for first lady Michelle Obama’s White House garden,” a whopping “592,000 to determine that chimpanzees with the best poop-flinging skills are also the best communicators, and another $117,000 to learn that most chimps are right-handed.” The NIH also spent “$325,000 to learn that marriages are happier when wives calm down more quickly during arguments with their husbands” and “$548,000 to find out if 30-something partiers feel immature after they binge drink while people in their mid-20s don’t.”

The NIH does not have a budget problem, it has a priorities problem.

My argument over ebola protection is this… why the hell is obama and all of his liberal cohorts, trying their damnedest to take money from us to fight the unstoppable, climate change, something that has no scientific fact behind it whatsoever, and won’t make the first, the most important practicle, doable defensive move.. stopping all incoming/outgoing travel to Africa to keep Americans protected from a known killer.. that spreads like weeds after an April rain….. Won’t help us with a real threat, but works hard, puts great effort, as well as lying to us about a non threat…. Liberals perceive (or deceive) us about the weather, but when faced with a factual threat, they ignore what should be the practical first steps.

I hear you there! Listening to Kerry say the sky is falling over global warming while we have ISIS and ebola drives me mad!

Heck, they could saved a lot of money if they had just come to me. I’m an expert on shit throwing. I throw shit at Democrats and Republicans, alike. I throw shit at Obama and I throw shit at Bush. I’m an equal opportunity shit thrower.

It is always the answer to throw more money at it. No matter what the problem. Disregard the waste and blame the GOP. When will the public get sick of it? Apparently not anytime soon.

Hopefully people are watching the Ebola response and are seeing the ineptitude we have been preaching about for so long.

A reprise iof a comment I made eerlier this year: Harpo Marx when asked to sign a sanity clause said you cannot fool me there is no sanity claus.
This pretty much defines Obola, his administration, his sycophants.
