College cancels “jail and bail” fundraiser because…it is racist!
So far in 2014 we have seen several college events cancelled by the PC police: A University of California fraternity was forced to cancel a fundraiser because coconut bras and grass skirts are racist, the University of St. Thomas was forced to cancel a “hump day” event because they were going to have a petting zoo which included a camel and that was deemed insensitive towards Muslims, and Dartmouth University had to cancel a “phiesta” event because they were selling tacos and that was racist.
Now, according to this story, the PC police have struck again: The Kappa Kappa Gamma and Zeta Beta Tau fraternities were planning on holding a “jail and bail” fundraiser to raise money for ‘Reading is Fundamental.’ The gist of the fundraiser goes like this: people would volunteer to be arrested and would be sent to a mock jail until they raised enough bail money, which would then be donated to the charity.
However the event was cancelled because it was deemed to be racist:
Organizers canceled a philanthropy event featuring a mock jail hosted by Kappa Kappa Gamma and Zeta Beta Tau after criticism of the event surfaced online.
Members of both organizations confirmed Sunday night the event will not be held. Kappa apologized to the Northwestern community in a statement Monday.
“You’re employing aspects, the orange jumpsuits, of an oppressive system that operates as a massive encumbrance to the lives and literacy rates of black and brown children in these ‘underprivileged’ areas,” Weinberg sophomore Alejandro Banuelos wrote in a comment.
“All of them should be ashamed,” SESP junior Maria Marquez wrote in a public Facebook post about the event.
In a letter to the editor published Sunday night in The Daily, Weinberg sophomore Ajay Nadig said the event idea was offensive on both racial and socioeconomic grounds.
“The fact that a group of wealthy Northwestern students are ‘playacting’ at being prisoners (most of whom are poor) is a blatant belittling of the realities of mass incarceration and the prison-industrial complex,” Nadig wrote.
The real losers here are the children who stood to benefit from this innocently conceived attempt to raise money for a worthy cause. And I thought the left cared about the children…

Yep, isn’t that their motto, “It’s for the children” … as long as we get what we want out of it. Zip, how did we grow up in a world without the PC Police? I am getting too old to be putting up with this crap. Every time you turn around there is someone else either offended or like this, they are putting a stop to something. When my youngest was in school, at Halloween, he would dress as Rambo with the full gear on, etc.,he was a typical boy that played with guns. Now they would be turning us in and making us take him to counseling, because he would be messed up. I am here to tell you, he is a well adjusted 34 year old that is doing a great job at raising his kids, as well. At least where he lives, they all have guns, I cannot say if he lived in a place like DC or one of the other liberal bastions what it would be like. It is todays kids that are going to be messed up, what with all the meds they funnel into them and the crap they are feeding them in books that have been altered. Sad! .

Sorry, but I am not ready to lay down and take it from those that know what is best for me, nor are my grandchildren going to put up with it, IF I can help it. I think the kids born in the 40-50-60’s had the best childhoods. We were not shoved on a bunch of mind altering drugs, we minded in school and at home or there were consequences for our actions. I wonder if that was applied today, how many kids would NOT be on drugs? We played hard and did not ask what we could do OR Mom would find something for us to do and it would not be pleasant. The people in charge now are from that era, I just wonder what happened for them to have turned out so differently from the rest of us?

It is all about intimidation. Soon we will need approval from the P.C police to go to the bathroom. But wait, they already control the water in my toilet and shower head. And it went down without a peep.
