Could Wendy Davis foil Battleground Texas’ plan to turn the state blue?

November 1, 2014

wendy davis It is no secret that Democrats have a long-term goal of turning Texas blue and who can blame them? If they are successful there is basically no chance for Republicans to win another national election.

In recent months the Democrats have tried to expedite the process through a project called Battleground Texas and that organization has thrown its resources toward Wendy Davis in an attempt to defeat Greg Abbott and install a Democratic governor in the state since 1995. It is believed that if Wendy Davis is successful it will be the beginning of a much larger effort.

However in recent weeks Wendy Davis has been faltering and has she grows more desperate so do her attack ads, first she attacked Greg Abbott over the issue of interracial marriage even though he has been in one for 30 years and then she attacked him for being wheelchair bound. This has seemingly backfired on her and it looks as though she could be headed to a double digit defeat.

This has led Politico to speculate that her ineptitude might actually sink Battleground Texas and its attempt to turn Texas blue.

  Here is more:

Democrats thought Wendy Davis could speed up their efforts to turn Texas blue. Instead, she may prove a drag on the most prominent group chasing that goal.

Davis could lose her bid for the governor’s mansion by double digits on Nov. 4, leaving Battleground Texas, the grassroots-focused organization that essentially serves as her campaign’s field arm, with a high-profile loss in its first major electoral effort in the Lone Star State. Already, some Texas Democrats say it’s hard to see a credible path forward for Battleground if Davis, and Democratic turnout on her behalf, don’t significantly surpass the low expectations in this deep-red state.

“If they fail to move the needle in a meaningful way, I think it’s going to be hard for their benefactors to continue to invest in them,” said Colin Strother, a Democratic strategist who hopes Battleground will survive.

If this is true perhaps Wendy Davis will turn out to be a blessing in disguise for Texas Republicans, at least in the short-term, however it appears as if they have built a large infrastructure in Texas and if the Republicans think this one defeat (if she loses) will signal the defeat of the organization they are sadly mistaken. They still have a long-term goal and they will not give it up so the Republicans cannot fall into the trap of believing this one possible defeat will stop them from moving forward in the future.

I guess it will depend how many illegals get to vote. Sooner rather than later?

As much of a joke as this woman is, you cannot push her aside and forget about her. For some reason, voters flock to someone like her, ie. Al Franken. You know she is not qualified, but there are alot of people that will vote for her anyway. Is it because she is a woman, or blonde or a ditz? Who knows, but those people are out there waiting to vote, no matter what is said about her.

I don’t doubt that she is not going to go away if she loses. She will be back and she will have learned from her mistakes.

I really think that, in a perfect world, the Republicans will come out way ahead. Having said that, the womens groups and the blacks are turning against this administration by big numbers, they have been let down drastically. I also believe that there will be massive voter fraud, whether it is by illegals voting OR by ballot stuffing OR machine manipulations, it will happen. Now, again, having said that, IF the Republicans are on top of their game, they will be watching for this and/or contesting certain races if they turn out just the opposite as we saw in the 2012 races. I will say it again, that win of the White House was stolen and there is no one that will convince me otherwise. Let us hope the Republicans will not back down this year, we need them to stand up for US and for the country, otherwise it will be years before there might be another conservative in the White House, if ever. It is crucial to vote and it is crucial to watch what is going on at the polls. One cannot play nice in this day and age of corruption!

In order to be safe the candidates must win by at least 4%, that will be above the margin of fraud. But they have to make sure something like Franken pulled does not happen again and that means they have to fight any contested results with as much vigor as the Democrats do.

Probably only a temporary setback, unfortunately. I hear Austin is very Liberal. It’ll be a like a virus spreading outwards…
