Tom Harkin backtracks from his sexist Joni Ernst comment

November 3, 2014

Joni Ernst A couple of days ago outgoing Democratic Senator from Iowa Tom Harkin implied that people were only intending to vote for Joni Ernst because she was attractive. In addition to insulting the voters of his state this was a sexist remark for it inferred that she was a pretty face and nothing more. And I thought it was the Republican party which was waging a war on women…

Because he is a good liberal Democrat and is not a Republican the mainstream media largely ignored his remark, however it created a firestorm in the blogoshpere and on social media so today he was forced to backtrack from this sexist comment by stating he “shouldn’t have said those things.”

  Here is more:

“I shouldn’t have said those things, I know that. I regret anytime someone feels offended by what I have said,” the retiring Democrat said in a statement. “But I am only human and I can make mistakes sometimes in how I say something. I can assure Senator Ernst that in no way did I intend to offend her. In fact, I have complimented her on running a very good campaign.”

Of course this stops short of being an outright apology, doesn’t it? He regrets that people were offended by what he said but he did not say he was sorry for saying it, he only stated he regretted the fact that people were offended by his remark. He regrets that his comment might have had the opposite of its intended purpose.

In fact he did not say he did not believe what he said, only that he should not have said it. And those are two completely different things, are they not? Democrats are masters at the art of the non-apology apology.

Just like when that miserable Harris-Perry had to apologize to Romney for making fun of his grandchild, Harkin IS sorry, sorry that he got flack, sorry that he got caught, sorry he has to apologize, sorry it didn’t work the way he wanted it to.
    So yes, he IS sorry.

HIs apology seemed to me to make things almost worse. He still seems to remain puzzled as to what it was all about as I heard his remarks.

Just another POS democ RAT saying whatever they please and hoping to not get called on it. He could have made the best sounding apology ever heard, and we would still know that he didn’t mean a word of it.

On another topic, please feel free to use the following in your blog, in person, or where ever it might help the cause:

“A vote for Scott Brown is a vote AGAINST Harry Reid, and he absolutely has to lose his control of the Senate!”

When I woke up this morning I was still undecided about whether to vote for Brown or write myself in, but they I saw the story about Shaheen being directly involved in the IRS scandal and I did what I had to do. It was not easy, I skipped over that portion of the ballot and when I went back to it I hesitated but I finally did it.

Notice how “I’m only human” works so well for some and not accepted by that same person when it’s their foe saying it! “I’m like you ‘folks” [another bastardized word], “I’m allowed to make mistakes!” You’re right Steve he didn’t apologize, only ‘excuses’ himself. And isn’t that what it’s all about in the ‘dishonest world of illusion’! I hope these things ‘repulse’ people, even the illegals (who supposedly will be voting) – setup to be the patsies – blamed if the Dems get in if they do (being bused in and catered to by Dems using tax payers money). How many illegals would even want to be in a voting area with a fake ID unless ‘prompted’ or told, “Do this and your can stay (free) or back home you go.” Hopefully the good hackers can keep the Regime hackers out of this one.

How many people still fall for the “I am one of you guys” lines? With Warren actually getting consideration for the presidency it seems as if there are quite a few. And you are right, all he did was make an excuse for what he said.
