New video shows Jonathan Gruber admitting Barack Obama was in on the Cadillac healthcare plan tax from the beginning

November 13, 2014

gruber Another day and another video has surfaced with Jonathan Gruber talking about deceiving the stupid American voters into supporting the healthcare law.

Yesterday’s video showed the Obamacare architect bragging about how clever it was to take advantage of the American people in regards to the Cadillac healthcare plan tax, and today we have learned in a new video that Barack Obama was in on it from the beginning.

I cannot provide a direct link to the video but if you would like to see it please check out this article. Here is the text of his comments:

So everyone in the room said, “You want something that is real cost control that we know it will work, go after this.”

Now, the problem is, it’s a political nightmare, … and people say, “No, you can’t tax my benefits.” So what we did a lot in that room was talk about, well, how could we make this work? And Obama was like, “Well, you know” — I mean, he is really a realistic guy. He is like, “Look, I can’t just do this.” He said: “It is just not going to happen politically. The bill will not pass. How do we manage to get there through phases and other things?” And we talked about it. And he was just very interested in that topic.

Once again, that ultimately became the genesis of what is called the Cadillac tax in the health care bill, which I think is one of the most important and bravest parts of the health care law and doesn’t get nearly enough credit.

This is interesting, because as the above-linked article reminds us, during the 2008 election Barack Obama told the American people that John McCain supported taxing Cadillac plans while he did not.

  Just another deception…

Funny how times change isn’t it? Funny isn’t the right word though, interesting is more apt.
