The Boehner-Obama cromnibus bill is in big trouble

December 11, 2014

Obama-Boehner-golf-1 Well today sure was an interesting day when it comes to the effort to keep the government open after midnight tonight, wasn’t it?

First John Boehner brought the bill forward on a procedural vote and that almost failed and fearing the final vote would fail he was forced to withdraw the legislation. Quite embarrassing to say the least.

The reason for this problem is interesting as well for we knew the conservative Republicans were not going to vote for it so John Boehner was working with the Democrats to get the votes from that side of the aisle to ensure its passage. However Elizabeth Warren stepped in and whipped up opposition from the left based on the provision in the bill which would have put a dent in the Dodd-Frank Finance law.

Barack Obama tried to come to the rescue by asking Democrats to support the legislation based on his support but that also failed when Nancy Pelosi slammed the President for his support of the cromnibus. Of course she held nothing back when it came to attacking John Boehner as well.

So what we have here is the conservatives in the Republican party and the liberals in the Democratic party on the same side of this issue albeit for different reasons and now it is being reported here that John Boehner and Barack Obama are working together to come to try to win enough votes to pass the cromnibus.

Sources close to the matter tell Breitbart News that there are “strongly credible rumors” indicating Boehner has abandoned Republicans to form a full fledged partnership with the Obama White House in an effort “to get the votes tonight from House Democrats and Republicans alike for the CRomnibus.”

They say that politics make strange bedfellows and this might be the most bizarre example that I can remember.

I think the biggest takeaway from this as of right now is how much political clout both John Boehner and Barack Obama have lost in their respective parties in so short a period of time.

I had a very busy day today so I was not able to follow all the updates as closely as I would have liked to–did I miss anything?

I am posting this song, well, just because. I used to play it cranked up in the car on the way to take a big test, kind of psyched me up….anyway, enjoy, one of my favorites!

I am afraid once they get to “the hill” they don’t think much of us at all. Maybe we should make it where they have to report into us each day as to what they did FOR us, huh?

Boehner ought to get an analysis done on the Irish whiskey he is drinking. I suspect someone slipped some of Obama’s kool-aid into his bottle.

Not sure you missed much, we already know that Boehner is against REAL Republicans and is in cahoots with Obama. The strange thing is Warren and Pelosi and their opinions on this bill. I am not sure WHO to cheer on here. I guess I have never seen anything like what is going on. A party that is divided (Republicans) and a party that well, I do not know what the hell they are doing (Democrats). I am just sitting here shaking my head, wondering if there might possibly be a hostile take over of the Speaker position the way things are going. That we might agree with Warren and Pelosi is a big switch, isn’t it?

What a strange and interesting day to say the least! Technically we might be on the same side when it comes to killing this bill but we do not agree with the reasons Warren and Pelosi oppose the legislation so “agree” might be the wrong word. I cannot bring myself to admit I “agree” with either of these two. 😉

I worked hard on the Dems today!. Even called Liz’s office I hoped she would hold firm, looking forward to her running for Prez! The staffer oozed with delight. Let us just hope we have nice surprise by tomorrow with a big red bow.

At least you did not have to call Dick Durbins office, I can give you the number if you would like!!! Not that you would get ahold of HIM, but just to make sure he knows how you feel. Good job, Bunker, you did your part today! Those staffers are easily messed with, aren’t they?

The only thing I’m really sure of, is that we are getting screwed hard and deep without a kiss.

I’ve got some hope for the newbies who just got elected, but not for any of the current generation of the Republican leadership. As for the Democrats, I really think criminal charges may be in order.

I really want to go on a hyperbolic rant, but what’s the point? You’ve got the basics.

Our only hope is with the newbies and Boehner realizes this. That is why he is trying to neuter them by passing this before they get into office.

Since he has taken office we have been in a downward spiral and wondering who has big enough equipment to get us off this ride before it’s too late…

It isn’t funny, but to watch Jimmy Hoffa Jr. now being upset with Obama about the pensions kind of lessens the pain. It was not long ago, they were best of buddies and the Unions were right there in the forefront. Now, not so much! How things change and stay the same!

Or maybe not, I hope to hell there is a massive uprising if thix vote passes. To have to rely on Warren to shut it down is so beyond comprehension, I am at a loss for words!

It should be criminal but didn’t they also screw with the GM pensions in the bailout? And it is only a matter of time before they come after the 401k plans.

Yep, we tried to tell them. However, Obama is a great friend, I guess when you are doing exactly what he wants you to do. I have had some friends like that, ones that as long as it goes their way, they are great friends, but balk what they want and they no longer are your friend. In a friendship, that is a minor thing, you just part ways. BUT, with a president, this is a major problem. He has not outgrown Jr. High and it shows! This is dangerous at his level.
Lorra, alot of us were blindsided, don’t beat yourself up over it. Just live to fight another day. We are learning quickly with these teachers. I, however wish, that more people were on the same level as us.

Makes you wonder why there are even 2 parties, doesn’t it? I know we have a handful of conservatives that are doing as we asked them to do, but it seems there are votes for sale with the rest of them. Are we to believe that Boehner has our best interest at heart? I am disgusted in him, in talks with Obama, what a turn coat. Since when does a president start working the phones for a bill to pass his way? Maybe they do, I don’t know anymore. It is strange when some of the Democrats side with the Republicans, hence, my opinion that it just might not make a difference who we put in Congress anymore.
Let’s see, will it pass the Senate? I am 99.9% sure it will if that is what Obama wants, McConnell will work his butt off to see it does. Not sure I will even turn on C-span to watch the vote go down,,,,what difference does it make!

There really aren’t two parties any more. They are all on the same side, they just differ on little issues and they use these differences to whip the people into a frenzy and then we are all fighting with each other they do what they wanted to do from the beginning. Until these new people stop getting intimidated when they get to DC nothing will change.

I think you are right! We have to just keep voting Rinos out each election, til they are gone. I still believe in a certain amount of terms and you cannot be voted in again. That would solve s few problems, but then again, it would also take out some of the good ones. I guess there is no perfect solution.

More evidence that: those in power positions are enemies of “We the people”. Enemies don’t play by the rules nor do they care about ethical conduct or such things. We knew Boner was creepy – why do the rest of them appoint his kind into those top positions? OR do they? Shadow Gov is not the Constitutional Gov, but it and the Fed ($$) runs the show.

We know the Fed is privately owner, what say that the Constitutional Gov. is not the same? Privately owned would not be that far of a stretch would it? This Government is NOT the Government of the past, so who the hell knows anymore.
