New poll shows 60% of Republican voters want John Boehner ousted as Speaker of the House

January 2, 2015

A new poll has been released and it is not good news for Speaker of the House John Boehner.

  Here is more:

A whopping 60 percent of voters who voted for Republicans in the last election either definitely or probably want their member of Congress to elect someone other than Boehner on Jan. 6, when Congress convenes, according to the poll. The voters were asked: “As you may know the new Congress will select its leaders in January. If it were up to you, would you elect John Boehner to continue as Speaker of the House or would you elect someone new?”

In response to that question, 34 percent of the GOP voters surveyed said they definitely want someone other than Boehner and 26 percent said they probably want someone other than Boehner. Only 11 percent said they definitely want to keep Boehner and an additional 15 percent said they probably want Boehner to stay. So the poll says some 60 percent of GOP voters want Boehner gone, while just 25 percent want him to stay. Fifteen percent in the poll either don’t know, or are undecided on Boehner’s future.

The fact that 60% of voters who voted Republican in the last election want to see John Boehner replaced as Speaker is bad enough news on its own for the current Speaker, however the news is even worse when you take into account that only 11% of those surveyed definitely want him to retain his position. The message is clear…

So what are the chances that John Boehner will lose his position?

john-boehner-crying On the surface the chances look promising as it would only take 29 conservatives voting against him to remove him as Speaker, however it must be remembered that John Boehner has a history of punishing conservatives who  do not support his big government agenda 100%.

Back in 2012 John Boehner punished four conservatives by removing them from key committee positions and it was reported that he threatened to target more conservatives if they did not fall in line. The ultimatum was clear–vote with the establishment or pay the price.

Knowing John Boehner’s history, how many conservatives out of the 29 needed who would otherwise vote against John Boehner are going to vote to protect their own committee positions instead of doing what the voters are telling them they want to see done in the event that John Boehner holds on?

It is time for the conservative Republicans in Washington to take a stand on principle and say to hell with whatever committee positions John Boehner is offering them in return for their support for, as we have already seen, John Boehner can remove them from these positions on a whim if they do not fall in line.

If they sell their souls for committee positions they will become nothing but a rubber stamp for the establishment Republicans and they will have lost sight of why the voters sent them there in the first place.

So if the choice is between losing a possible committee position now or losing it later why not make a stand now when it counts and you still have an independent, and uncorrupted, voice?

60% of Republican voters want Boehner ousted as Speaker, but 100% of Democratic voters want him to stay on. 😦

All things being equal it would seem we can pretty much predict with great certainty the outcome of this. It would take the courage of one’s conviction to oust this drunk and that’s too tall an order for most politicians be they left wing or right wing. A sad commentary indeed on the state of affairs in Washington DC these days.

Now that we have more GOP House members we need more to defeat him. Before we only were short about 4 or 6 votes. Now we need 15 or 16. I don’t have the exact number.

I got my number from Breitbart but maybe it is wrong. I like your number better, still will be tough to pull off though.

I stumbled on an old post:
Back in 2012 we came within 4 votes of defeating him. Twelve brave souls voted their conscience and Boehner purged them more like a third world Government would react than a Democracy. Brave souls lost their Committee seats.

And that is how he keeps his position, I wish more would say to hell with the committee positions and do what is right!

We would like to see him taken out of that position, but he is serving a purpose for the Administration, so I imagine he will stay. You know those horrible Tea Party members do not have the best interest of “we the people”, so the RINO’s will shoot them down and then brag about it. Correct me if I am wrong, but should not a party (any party) take up for their other members over the opposing party? I mean, that sound logical to me, but I could be wrong!
Boehner or anyone else in that position, IF he/she were a Democrat would not be tolerated if that person was going against the party and siding with the opposite party. What the hell has happened to the Republican party?

The one thing you can say about the Democrats is that for the most part they all stick together and toe the party line. Maybe that just means they already have the young guns under control. I guess if you look at it that way it is a good sign that some are willing to buck the Republican establishment.

The “establishment” is just not working anymore for us. The parties seem to be blending together and NOT in a good way!

We are getting to the point where the only two classes are the ruling class and the ruled class!

I believe the TV show “House of Cards” is more true than any of us want to believe, so we have no way to know how effective Boehner really is in the back room fights. Michael Medved, who I have tremendous respect for, and who is as conservative as I am, says Boehner has done a good job. I don’t like what I see of Boehner, and I don’t think he is a match for Obama in the public eye.

I am inclined to agree that Medved is a bit off on his opinion. House of Cards is probably closer to the truth than we would like to believe, as is Scandal.

I have to admit that I have never seen “House of Cards” but I will say that it is disturbing that so many conservatives apparently feel Boehner has done a good job.

I just wish I knew if he was doing a good job. There are so many things that he could be judged on. Words can’t describe (well printable words at least) what I think of Pelosi and the harm she has done to this country, but she has done a great job for the 47% of the population Romney accurately described. Retiring very conservative, Tea Party supporting Congressman John Cambell thinks he was a good speaker, but he sees the inside workings. I thought Newt Gingrish was a great guy and a great speaker, but he wasn’t sharp enough to outwit the left and was taken down.
