Dianne Feinstein says the Government should not seek felony charges against David Petraeus
Last Friday Eric Holder’s Department of Injustice recommended bringing felony charges against former CIA Director David Petraeus for allegedly passing on classified information to his biographer–who just happened to be his lover.
If what is alleged is true, and if the Department of Injustice has the evidence, than there is nothing that can be said in the defense of the now disgraced general.
However David Petraeus found an unlikely ally in Senator Dianne Feinstein, who had this to say when asked about the Department of Injustice’s decision:
“This man has suffered enough in my view,” Feinstein said on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday, explaining why she doesn’t think Attorney General Eric Holder should seek an indictment.
Petraeus “made a mistake,” added the senator, who is vice chairwoman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. “But … it’s done, it’s over. He’s retired. He’s lost his job. How much does the government want?”
I find this to be extremely interesting indeed in light of the recent spat between the Senator and the CIA.
The spat began when Dianne Feinstein accused the CIA of illegally spying on the Senate Intelligence Committee by illegally accessing its computers and it culminated when she exacted her revenge when her committee released its torture report.
So it seems odd to me that suddenly she wants to let this go. It is true that David Petraeus was not in charge of the CIA when the agency was engaged in torture or with the spying scandal but perhaps she is worried that a trial would lead to revelations she would rather the American people did not know about.
Something like, oh I don’t know, maybe the fact that top Democrats knew what the CIA was up to because they were briefed on the “harsh” interrogation policies and the only concern they had was whether or not the practices went far enough…

Petrases behavior is akin to the former Clinton insider who stuffed classified state department documents in his bloomers and suffered not at all. …no honor amongst thieves and politicians. Sorry for the redundancy.

Funny how the left laughed that off, isn’t it?

Wow Steve, this story should be used in a college ethics class, because it really tests whether we are a “make it up as you go” lib, or someone made up of principles that should stand the test.
It is VERY popular on TV and in moves to show a top ranking individual SWORN to uphold the constitution and protect the nation (like 24) to betray that oath and trust because someone dear to them has been kidnapped, or threatened or ……(fill in the blank) And of course that person selfishly turns on their country.
Petraus did great things for this country and should NEVER have been craped on by the Whiner-in-Chief. But if he thought with the wrong head and broke the law, he should be subject to the law. Some are NOT more equal than others. The tragedy is that this corrupt Dept. of Injustice should pass judgement on a fine man, and the hypocrisy of Holder EVER investigating someone else won’t be lost on any of your readers.

I thought I commented on this last night but apparently not. Maybe I posted it somewhere else by mistake…
You nailed it Bruce; if Petraeus gave away secrets it cannot be defended for because all he knew she could have been working for somebody else, however it is ironic that a man without integrity such as Holder can investigate others.

Yes she could’ve been a ‘plant’. Those individual in this Regime probably had the ‘plan’ all set up and just needed their ‘scape goat’, shoved Petraus in the slot – having the bait set on the hook. Makes one wonder how long those in the military will allow their lives and to be marginalized by the criminals in charge? or are they Sold out to the same ‘program’.

I wouldn’t put is passed this regime to plant someone to take down Petraeus but of course that does not dissolve him from blame. He should have known better. As for whether or not the military is in with the “program” it is interesting to remember Obama has been purging generals and replacing them with others, and I would expect that the replacements are on Obama’s side.

I just hope Petraeus starts to sing. I am sure he knows plenty. One more step in the demoralization process.

I hope so too! There is no doubt he knows where the bodies are buried and I think Feinstein is nervous.

Unequal standards when it comes to different parties, hmmmm? Funny how that works. While I do not think what he did was right, as you said, there have been those from the other side that have that much or worse and nary a smack on the hand. Double standards, much???

You’r right Lou. The only thing that is standard these days is the ‘double standard’. The left makes the rules, and enforces them as it wants. But we can’t fall into their world. “If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything”

Well, Bruce, try and use a rule the left put into play to attack us against them and see how quickly they cry foul! Big bunch of babies!

The double standard is glaring, but of course pointing it out makes us conspiracy theorists. 😉
