Open thread for Sunday, January 11th: Down in a Hole

January 11, 2015

open-thread Here is the open thread for Sunday, January 11th. Please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.

This week we discussed another 11 stories, did you miss any of them? If so there is an easy way to make sure it does not happen again. I understand that all of you are busy and cannot always find the time to check the blog for updates so why not subscribe to America’s Watchtower and receive email updates whenever I write a new post? That is the easiest way to follow the blog to ensure you never miss another post.

In addition to subscribing you can also follow America’s Watchtower on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the links on the right. But you will get more than that for I often post links to articles I probably will not be writing about so it is a great way to keep up with what is happening.

The Twitter widget in the sidebar is fully interactive. This widget updates my tweets in real time and allows you to respond to or retweet my tweets right from the blog. It also allows you to tweet me right from America’s Watchtower. How cool is that! If you do not have a Twitter account what better reason do you need to sign up for one!?

This week’s musical selection is Alice in Chains performing “Down in a Hole” acoustically. If I am not mistaken this is the last performance before lead singer Layne Staley lost his battle with addiction. While usually being associated with grunge or metal music the band was known for the vocal harmonies between Staley and lead guitarist Jerry Cantrell–which is unique in the genres.

  Enjoy:

Interesting, thanks for sharing! Nirvana’s Unplugged performance was brilliant, I can see a little similarity here, but Layne’s voice was better in my opinion.

I turned on FOX (bad, Lou), had the heads of countries over in Paris showing their support on what happened there. Netanyahu had 3 or 4 body guards around him while they were walking arm in arm…..guess the problem I have is, where were all these “heads” on 9/11 here? Why do WE seem to go it alone when we are attacked? Can anyone answer that for me? Are we that hated now as a country that they will not support or back us up?

Lou, America is the first country people think of when they want something and the last country they think of to help. The old saying “he got his comeuppance” is what the rest of the world (and too many of our leftists) think when something bad happens here. But the fact that France has that idiot Holder over there means they don’t have it all good.

I heard Holder left the event early and the rest of the world was not happy about it.

Bruce, I believe you are right. Guess they think we can take care of ourselves. I imagine we could do better, IF we were not sending billions of dollars to every country that has their hand out. The problem I see is that it never stops and then they start DEMANDING the money and WE comply. No wonder our taxes keep going up, that and Obamas “vacations”!
Holder made a bit of a showing, but what he did not do is more telling.

This is where Rand Paul is right. He says every foreign country should start with zero foreign aide and then should have to prove they deserve it before we give them any money. I like that idea!

      Hello Lou
As someone from the European Continent… my generation “Love The US” Feeling that in the US there is a freedoom there is nowhere else, and it worth Stand For It…
as much this get value for a few Generations, it didn’t get impact with the new generations…D-Day is a movie not a reality, The freedom will send to jail, gang, poverty …many of those things put you away from was that success… USA Number one and now not much… Can see it like Sport, a Group win, score, people follow…a group never win..people stop to go

I think you are right when it comes to history, as events like D-Day fade away into the past the younger generations don’t realize it was reality. I think the same can be said for the founding of this country; our children are not being taught about what the role of government is supposed to be and as such they allow the government to become more and more powerful as time goes by.

SDL and Steve, I believe that our history books have been rewritten to take so much out of them that the kids will never know until someone explains it to them. So, I guess it might not really be their fault. You cannot remove and/or sugar coat the past and expect them to understand our real history. I also believe that America stood behind countries, financed them when they were down and continued to support so many of them while we, as a country are suffering and begging to take care of US.
PS SDL, love the WHO, that was./s my music, along with much more acquired taste thanks to some people that post music here. As I have said before, there are those that have broadened my horizons when it comes to music and I am grateful.

Favorite album by THE WHO was Live at Leeds and favorite album cover was the bathtub with Heinz Baked Beans. I still have a shit load of vinyl, but my son, over the years has “selected” a few to take home. We also had a juke box he restored and “selected” alot of my 45’s when he took the juke box. I play it now and then down at his house. I one song I require being on it is “96 Tears”, by Question Mark and the Mysterians. The one thing I do to him once in awhile is find him some 45’s or albums by Paul Anka and try and pawn them off on him, wrapped as a gift, haha! For some reason he will not put them in with his other records, cannot say I blame him.

That’s the key, revisionist history. We are constantly told by our own educators that America was founded by racist rich white men and only exists because of slavery. How can other countries think of us differently than we think of our selves?
But you are right Lou, why the hell do we have to keep PAYING them to hate us?

That’s right Lou and Bruce; he who controls history controls the future and the left has been busy rewriting history and indoctrinating the younger generations and they have been at if for a long time.

Here’s something interesting from Intellihumb “Paris events meet the false flag checklist” https://www.intellihub.com/vindicated-paris-events-meet-false-flag-checklist/
When it first happened I didn’t think ‘false flag’ at all. But it just happens to be when surveillance is at a high and the desire by those running it want to justify even more restrictions and options: 4. A false dialectic of left versus radicalism polarizing public consumption of propaganda

I don’t know if it was a false flag or not but I do know that even if it was not the left is going to take advantage of this “crisis” in an attempt to further their radical agenda by trying to chip away at free speech.

      Hello Zip
The TV show’s theme song was created by composer/performer Stewart Copeland, From The Band The Police…
The Movie could turn back as a Tv Show but I believe Denzel Washington have other project than enclose himself into one in particular.
Always been since the TV exist that there are actors for TV and actors for Big Screen and the two keep a distance. Have you seen much of the friends or sex in the city ? They do one movie and there are back in a tv show, …I know,,,I know George Clooney is an exception that put all said above in the trash can lol… But however there is a reality here for many actors.

I do remember watching some of the TV series. And “The Police” choice a favorite! Interesting Swiss, thanks. I was just thinking the other day how people in this world are NOT reflected by their leaders (some people maybe, but not the whole). Those in leadership positions live a bubble of a different reality than the majority and arrange things that divide us from just wanting to live our lives without them intruding into our God given rights and being. BUT, the controllers and sickies don’t agree and go about their way destroying the lives of many for their own rewards. The Equalizer isn’t really the answer but it’s a start. Did he need the ‘okay’ from the US Gov. head? Would he have done it anyway. If the Gov. head was invested in this Mafia, they would’ve told him NO. Inside of him though, YES.

They say 4 million marched in France today. That is something like 16% of the country. I don’t remember anything like that after the World Trade Center or the Boston bombing. Sadly it is easy to get thousands to protest the 2 lawful grand jury outcomes.

When this Regime goes anywhere to support anything you know it’s crooked. The French just have more practice with collecting and getting results (The French Revolution). But changing out the bourgeoisie, just replaces one con group for another.
It’s easier for Nation leaders to collect for a ’cause’ when they’re in it together – the world Agenda – “See we need to work together against Global terrorism!” NO, we need to get the corrupt leaders out of every Country and deal with the little terrorist next – they’re linked. “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times …” http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/A_Tale_of_Two_Cities
Pie in the Sky thinking to ‘imagine’ cleaning the slate of crooked people in leadership positions, but a nice thought 😊
