Democratic Senator Bob Menendez says it sounds as if Barack Obama is getting his talking points ‘straight out of Tehran’

 I have said this before but I will say it again: while much has been made in the media about the civil war brewing in the Republican party there is also a civil war brewing in the Democratic party which is not getting nearly the coverage in the mainstream media.

  It started during the 2014 election campaign when vulnerable Democrats tried to distance themselves from an unpopular President and it continues to an extent to this day. It may not be as glaring or as obvious as the revolt against the establishment Republicans but it exists nonetheless.

  The latest example of this comes from Democratic Senator Bob Menendez, who is the ranking Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and his comment was in regards to Barack Obama’s position on Iran.

  Here is what he had to say:

“I have to be honest with you, the more I hear from the administration and its quotes, the more it sounds like talking points that come straight out of Tehran,” Menendez charged at a Wednesday hearing.

“And it feeds to the Iranian narrative of victimization when they are the ones with original sin,” he continued. “An illicit nuclear weapons program going back of the course of 20 years that they are unwilling to come clean on,”

“They get to cheat in a series of ways and we get to worry about their perceptions” about sanctions, Menendez said

  That is a pretty damning comment, especially coming from a member of Barack Obama’s party, is it not?

  Yet it does not appear as if the mainstream media finds this comment to be noteworthy. Rest assured that if a Republican such as, oh I don’t know Ted Cruz or Sarah Palin, had said this it would be used by the mainstream media to portray this person as a nativist or as a racist or as being naive on foreign policy. 

  But the media will ignore this not to protect Barack Obama (although that is part of it) but because to report this news would be to admit it is not all rainbows, unicorns, and lollipops within the Democratic party and they cannot have that.
