The State Department is still blocking Benghazi witnesses from testifying

January 27, 2015

The Benghazi Select Committee opened up its investigation today into the deadly terrorist attack which left Chris Stevens, Glen Doherty, Tyrone Woods, and Sean Smith dead and once again the State Department is stonewalling by not allowing key witnesses who were on the ground during the attack to testify.

The State Department is claiming it is doing this to protect the lives of the witness as well as the lives of their families. I do  not doubt for a minute that the State Department is trying to save lives–or should I say a life–but the life they are trying to protect is the political life of the woman who would like to be the next President of the United States–Hillary Clinton.

Those who feel as if the last two investigations put to rest the possibility of a scandal in regards to Benghazi need to explain how any investigation can be complete without the testimony of witnesses on the scene.

Possibly realizing this the State Department also gave a second reason for not allowing the witnesses to testify–it could somehow put in jeopardy the Department of Injustice’s investigation into the matter.

The State Department revealed that is is also concerned about jeopardizing the Justice Department investigation being carried out by Attorney General Eric Holder.

“We want to avoid interfering with the Department of Justice’s ongoing investigations and prosecutions,” Rubin said.

Trey Gowdy is not buying this excuse either, here is what he had to say:

Gowdy questioned Rubin’s statement that somehow the Benghazi committee would endanger the Justice Department investigation by conducting interviews of the witnesses, when other agencies were allowed to conduct similar interviews including the State Department’s independent review board.

The State Department had no answer. So other agencies are allowed to interview these witnesses but the Select Committee is not? I think it is fairly obvious what is going on here…

The evil Witch of the East must be and will be protected at all cost. I fear we will never learn the truth about the whole Benghazi affair. People who have no shame are dangerous people.

Sadly I have to agree with you, we are never going to know what really happened that night.
