The Obama regime refuses to release FOIA requested IRS targeting documents
Not that this news is going to come as a surprise to anyone but the Obama regime has decided not to release more than 500 documents related to the IRS targeting scandal which were requested under the Freedom of Information Act.
Here is more:
The Obama administration is refusing to publicly release more than 500 documents on the IRS’s targeting of Tea Party groups.
The Hill sought access to government documents that might provide a glimpse of the decision-making through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.
The Hill asked for 2013 emails and other correspondence between the IRS and the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA). The request specifically sought emails from former IRS official Lois Lerner and Treasury officials, including Secretary Jack Lew, while the inspector general was working on its explosive May 2013 report that the IRS used “inappropriate criteria” to review the political activities of tax-exempt groups.
TIGTA opted not to release any of the 512 documents covered by the request, citing various exemptions in the law. The Hill recently appealed the FOIA decision, but TIGTA denied the appeal.
The stated exemptions range from personal privacy to the laughable excuse that it could hinder “law enforcement proceedings” in regards to the case. But it appears as if nobody will be prosecuted for this scandal:
Yet, congressional Republicans say there is no evidence of any prosecution in the works, and media outlets have indicated that the Department of Justice and the FBI have already determined that no charges will be filed.
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) notes that eight months after Lerner was held in contempt of Congress for not testifying at two hearings, the matter has not yet been referred to a grand jury. The contempt citation is in the hands of Ronald Machen, the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia who was appointed by President Obama.
So this makes one wonder how the release of these documents could hinder an investigation which for all intents and purposes seems to be over.
Does this sound somewhat familiar? It should for when it appeared as if the walls were closing in on Eric Holder, and possibly Barack Obama himself, in the Fast and Furious scandal the President used Executive Privilege to seal the documents and saved his beleaguered Attorney General. This is not quite the same, Barack Obama has not had to resort to that level yet, but it is getting closer to that point and I would not be surprised to see it come down to this once again eventually.
Judicial Watch sued the Obama regime for documents related to the Fast and Furious scandal and a judge ordered over 40,000 pages of documents released. It appears as if this route will have to be taken again but of course there is not even a smidgen of corruption here from the most open, honest, and transparent administration in United States history…

The only hope is maybe we will find out about all of this after he is gone and maybe a couple will go to jail.

It’s hard to believe there is any room left under the Obama White House carpets for more dirt.

It seems that all this is just a front – going thru the motions – but is meaningless, just costly.
None of them really care about doing what’s right only what pads their pockets and fills their depravities.
This presents a perspective of how to view and solve the usurpers.

I think it probably is a front. As you know I believe both the Republicans and the Democrats are on the same side and they play this little game of opposition in order to give us the illusion we have a choice when really we do not.

Agree. Too bad they couldn’t just play their little games with each other in their own little world, without affecting/effecting ours. The insidiousness of this is on a grander scale – not that ‘IT is grand’, but the ‘implementing source’ behind it has power (physical & spiritual – the unseen). Those pulling the strings don’t even live in the US, so what do they care.

But of course their game involves us because we are the pawns and the desired result is control!
