Open thread for Sunday, March 1st: Kitchen at Parties
Here is the open thread for Sunday, March 1st. Please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.
We had a slight uptick last week with 8 posts, still not as many as I would like but did you miss any of them? If so there is an easy way to make sure it does not happen again. I understand that all of you are busy and cannot always find the time to check the blog for updates so why not subscribe to America’s Watchtower and receive email updates whenever I write a new post? That is the easiest way to follow the blog to ensure you never miss another post.
In addition to subscribing you can also follow America’s Watchtower on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the links on the right. But you will get more than that for I often post links to articles I probably will not be writing about so it is a great way to keep up with what is happening.
The Twitter widget in the sidebar is fully interactive. This widget updates my tweets in real time and allows you to respond to or retweet my tweets right from the blog. It also allows you to tweet me right from America’s Watchtower. How cool is that! If you do not have a Twitter account what better reason do you need to sign up for one!?
I am going to change it up a little bit with the musical selection of the week. Back in the mid to late 1980’s I grew tired of hearing the same songs on the radio over and over again so I began to look around for something different. I stumbled across a small station without much power which was playing what we now call alternative music. Eventually that station grew and when Nirvana and REM broke through to the mainstream alternative music seemed to have been reclassified and suddenly every station started playing this not-so-alternative alternative music.
Here is a video of a song which received some fairly regular play on alternative radio back in the day. The song is entitled “Kitchen at Parties” and it was done by a man by the name of Jona Lewie.

Another Sunday and no SDL! Still concerned!
We have 12 inches of snow and counting here in Central Illinois. It is pretty, and hopefully it will melt slowly, we need that moisture in the ground! Hope all is well with everyone on the blog, we have all had our share of “weather”, I think!

Very worried about SDL!
We are supposed to get 1-3″ inches tonight but we had a good amount of melting last week and it is supposed to be warming this week so the melting will continue. At least this snow is good for the well!

Sorry, forgot to comment on the tune…..kind of “Leonard Cohenish” in sound. A bit wierd, not sure I would be a fan. It seems an effort for him to move about, kind of choppy, but maybe part of the act. I will give it a “different” on what I think of it.

As far as I know this was his only hit, at least here in the states, and it was not really a hit other than on alternative and college radio. I actually had no idea who did the song and only found out when I searched the title on You Tube!

Interesting music choice Steve. It’s quite amazing all the different kinds of music there is, endless like the stars in the sky.

Thanks for sharing. It is amazing with all these reports coming out that more people are not questioning this but I guess this is just another issue the people are not paying attention to.
