According to this story the Department of Injustice is preparing to file criminal corruption charges against Democratic Senator Bob Menendez and Eric Holder has already signed off on it.

The Justice Department is preparing to bring criminal corruption charges against New Jersey Sen. Robert Menendez, a Democrat, alleging he used his Senate office to push the business interests of a Democratic donor and friend in exchange for gifts.
People briefed on the case say Attorney General Eric Holder has signed off on prosecutors’ request to proceed with charges, CNN has learned exclusively. An announcement could come within weeks.
I have to admit when I read this story I was stunned that Eric Holder would decide to go after anybody in the Democratic party–something did not seem right. After all Harry Reid’s son stands to benefit from land deals and the Department of Injustice did not blink an eye. And Dianne Feinstein’s husband has made a fortune in what seems to be a conflict of interest. Again, nothing from the Department of Injustice.
So why Bob Menendez and why now?
Then the conspiracy theory popped up: Bob Menendez has publicly opposed Barack Obama on Cuba and on Iran and just last week he filed legislation which would require Congressional approval on any agreement the President comes to with Iran.
Could this possibly be payback for his public opposition? I do not know the answer to the question, perhaps the evidence against Bob Menendez is simply too great to ignore, however I would not rule it out or put it passed Barack Obama or Eric Holder.
In the end I do not feel sorry for Bob Menendez because it certainly seems as if he was engaged in some, shall we say, questionable activities but it certainly looks as though he did not do himself any favors by opposing the President…

I just heard on Megyn Kelly that he was a big player in Hillary’s run. I thought this has gone away. Guess he couldn’t shut him up. My hunch is that we will start to hear more about Biden as the heir apparent.
Apparently he is not well off, and the $60,00 payback was most of his savings. If true, it makes one wonder.

I would like to give people the benefit of the doubt, and that’s quite a charge—criminal prosecution as retribution for a mere political disagreement and sponsoring a bill—but after the IRS under the Obama administration practically waged war on the Tea Party, it sounds uncomfortably plausible.
What does the Latin mean?

I did say I didn’t know if this was true or not but like you I find it to be possible after having watched the way Obama operates.
The Latin roughly translated to: I would rather live under dangerous liberty than tranquil servitude or I prefer the tumult of liberty to the quiet of servitude.

My head may explode. Not because a Democrat was caught breaking the law and accepting bribes, but because at the same time, he had the integrity to oppose policies bad for the United States.
A patriotic, corrupt, Liberal Democrat? No, that’s a mythical creature or perhaps the inspiration of an opium dream.
Let’s try this variant on a Conspiracy Theory: Menendez had some kind of unpublished falling out with Obama and Co. Knowing the axe was coming, he decided to actually vote his conscience on the way out.
It’s the kind of thing you’d expect in a novel or a movie, BUT it’s not impossible.

Dr. J, I do not know what to think about this. The good Senator is playing both sides of the aisle. I am sure this has happened before, but cannot remember ever seeing it myself. He is corrupt, that is for sure, now this. Who would have thunk it!!!!! Guess we will just have to sit back and see how he is attacked from the FAR left now. Do you think he might turn Republican for awhile or Independent? That seems to always be a good choice, the Republicans will welcome him with open arms until he is out of danger and then back he will flip. Congress people are an interesting breed to try and analyze, aren’t they?

I don’t see him flipping but one never knows. Politics makes for strange bedfellows and now we are seeing the Democrats vowing to save Boehner from a conservative coup so I don’t discount anything at this point.

Things have become crazy. There is no sanity left when it comes to this Administration, so anything is possible. I guess I am becoming de-sensitized (if that is the right word) to what they are doing. I do not put anything past them and expect almost anything now. All I have to do is listen to THE ONE say that he”hears it on the news”, the same as us, when something big happens. That is when I shake my head and KNOW that there are alot of people that believe him and know that we are doomed. I have to question if he has to hear it on the news, what are all the talking heads that we are paying in the White House doing for their keep?
