Could Hillary Clinton’s personal emails reveal a pay-to-play scheme at the Clinton Foundation?
Shortly before news broke that Hillary Clinton used a personal email account to conduct all State Department business it was reported that the Clinton Foundation was accepting donations from foreign governments. This report seems to have been backed up by Bill Clinton himself in an interview over the weekend.
There is nothing illegal about this, however is it possible that Hillary Clinton’s hidden emails might reveal a dirty little secret about the Clinton Foundation? Namely that the foundation was involved in a pay to play scheme. That is what this article wants to know and their seems to be some justification for the inquiry.
Here is more:
“Follow the money.” That apocryphal phrase, attributed to Watergate whistleblower “Deep Throat,” explains why the biggest threat to Hillary Rodham Clinton’s presidential dreams is not her emails. It’s her family foundation. That’s where the money is: corporate money, foreign money, gobs of money sloshing around a vanity charity that could be renamed “Clinton Conflicts of Interest Foundation.”
What about the emails? Hillary Clinton’s secret communications cache is a bombshell deserving of full disclosure because of her assault on government transparency and electronic security. But its greatest relevancy is what the emails might reveal about any nexus between Clinton’s work at State and donations to the Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Foundation from U.S. corporations and foreign nations.
Here is even more:
One of’ his [Bill Clinton’s] longest serving advisers, a person who had worked directly for the foundation, told me the “longtime whispers of pay-to-play are going to become shouts.”
This person, a Clinton loyalist and credible source, has no evidence of wrongdoing but said the media’s suspicions are warranted. “The emails are a related but secondary scandal,” the source said. “Follow the foundation money.”
Is the foundation clean? Is it corrupt? Or is the truth in the muddy middle, where we so often find the Clintons? Due to the fact that Hillary Clinton chose to skirt federal regulations and house her State Department emails on an off-the-books server, even the most loyal Democrat can’t honestly answer those questions without an independent vetting of her electronic correspondence.
And even more still:
a New York developer donated $100,000 to the foundation about the same time Hillary Clinton helped secure millions of dollars in federal assistance for the businessman’s mall project.
An aide close enough to Bill Clinton to be considered a surrogate son set up Taneo, a company that New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd calls “a scammy blend of corporate consulting, public relations, and merchant banking.” Doug Band recruited clients from the foundation donor list while encouraging others to donate. “Its marketing materials highlighted Mr. Band’s relationship with Mr. Clinton and the Clinton Global Initiative, where Mr. Band sat on the board of directors through 2011 and remains as an advisers,” according to a 2013 New York Times expose.
Is this just a remarkable coincidence or is there more to the story? How many more stories like this are out there and possibly contained within the emails Hillary Clinton apparently took great measures to hide from the public?
Supporters of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton are sure to claim this article is nothing but a right wing hit piece, or perhaps part of a vast right wing conspiracy if you prefer, but there is one problem with that line of defense. The article linked to above was penned by a person who admitted to knowing and covering the Clintons for the Arkansas Democrat when Bill Clinton was governor in the 1980s. Furthermore, he goes on to admit the Clintons have been kind to his family and admits his career benefited from their rise to power.
There is a reason, in my opinion, why Hillary Clinton set up a private email server in her home while registering it to some unknown person with ties to the family and these emails might hold the key. Perhaps there is nothing here but until the emails are released, and until Hillary Clinton addresses this issue, the speculation will continue to grow.
Her silence is deafening…

We knew back when Clinton was in office all the scandals they were involved in, at that point and when they were in Arkansas. Why would it surprise any of us that, as usual they do not get taken down? I doubt it will happen now, as well. Money talks and they have plenty of it to pay off anyone they need to. Plus, they are the right party affiliation for the media. There is our core problem, the MEDIA! We need to go after them to start playing the game fairly, but that will never happen. I know they say Obama is stacking the deck of Judges in the country to as many liberals as he can, but the Media has been stacked for years, hence we get crap for news and questionable reporting, at best.
