Open thread for Sunday, March 22nd: ‘What Do You Want From Life’
Here is the open thread for Sunday, March 22nd. Please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.
Last week we covered 10 stories, did you miss any of them? If so there is an easy way to make sure it does not happen again. I understand that all of you are busy and cannot always find the time to check the blog for updates so why not subscribe to America’s Watchtower and receive email updates whenever I write a new post? That is the easiest way to follow the blog to ensure you never miss another post.
In addition to subscribing you can also follow America’s Watchtower on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the links on the right. But you will get more than that for I often post links to articles I probably will not be writing about so it is a great way to keep up with what is happening.
The Twitter widget in the sidebar is fully interactive. This widget updates my tweets in real time and allows you to respond to or retweet my tweets right from the blog. It also allows you to tweet me right from America’s Watchtower. How cool is that! If you do not have a Twitter account what better reason do you need to sign up for one!
This week’s musical selection is The Tubes performing “What Do You Want From Life” live from 1974.
Enjoy:

Joy Division is one of my favorites as well. I am sure it was hard to choose which songs to post but these are three great choices! It is too bad their career was cut so short and there is so little live footage of them.
Was that first video from the movie? I have not seen it yet but I want to.

I like Both Films
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/24_Hour_Party_People
And the Anton Corbin Film
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Control_(2007_film)
Anton Corbin made video clip for many but also Atmosphere for Joy Division, Anton Corbin Knew the members of Joy Division personnaly so his film is somehow giving A View among others, it is why 24 Hour Party People, is a bit crazy but tell in my eyes what was missing in Control.
Yes I did try to cover some of the styles, so many great songs
Here the Clip

Thanks for those links SDL, I will be checking them out! I saw an interview with Bernard Sumner on Youtube where he talked about giving the demos of the last album to Ian’s wife and when he asked her what she thought she said she was frightened because she knew he was serious. Sumner told her it was just art and shouldn’t be taken seriously but of course it turned out she was right. So sad…

The group has a David Bowie/Jim Morrison (Doors) sound to it. Have never heard them before, but like them.

It was surely the music they did listen to, in their youth, I know David Bowie for sure

I remember seeing an older movie with Bowie in it called Labyrinth that was actually good because of the songs.

We took our elderly neighbors to St. Louis (we try and get them to do a day trip about once a month) to Powell Symphony Hall to hear the St. Louis Symphony youth group today. They were wonderful, they are a whole orchestra of brass, percussion, violins, cellos, bass, etc. These kids range from 12 to 22 in age and they would put most orchestras to shame. My nephew is at the top age range and will be moving on from there at the end of the year. Seeing them makes me believe there are actually some kids that have a focus in life other than playing nintendo or whatever the game of the day is or running the streets. We had a good day and then went to Ted Drews Frozen Custard, for a Concrete, a good way to finish up that good day. Hope I didn’t miss anything important today in the news!

Sounds like you had a great day, it is always good to step away from politics every once in awhile in order to stay sane.

Haha, you are so correct! The lady has dementia (alzheimers) and of course we have to answer many questions over and over, but like my parents did, she lives in “the moment” and that is good enough for us. We enjoy their company and take alot of trips that she can handle right now, while she is still able to.
I saw the Ted Cruz announced his candidacy, the vultures will be on him hot and heavy today, but he will withstand it. I have yet to look at the headlines, but I am sure they will say he is not qualified to run, like that makes a big difference after Obama has run 2 times. Oh well, double standards for you and not for e, right?

One that’s not as fun as these but caught my attention:
Next Crash Already Started-Bix Weir http://usawatchdog.com/next-crash-already-started-bix-weir/
https://youtu.be/RVr1xIqsiDo
Bix Weir of RoadtoRoota.com says, “I do believe it will be this year that they end the manipulation and end this monetary system. . . . . You can see it happening already in Europe. It won’t take long when the Greeks say okay Germany, we are done with you. . . . That whole system will go down, and that will come to the United States. If you have a crash of the system, you will have a crash of the banks.
