Open thread for Sunday, April 19th: ‘Crocodiles’

April 19, 2015

open-threadHere is the open thread for Sunday, April 19th. Please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.

Last week we covered 13 stories, did you miss any of them? If so there is an easy way to make sure it does not happen again. I understand that all of you are busy and cannot always find the time to check the blog for updates so why not subscribe to America’s Watchtower and receive email updates whenever I write a new post? That is the easiest way to follow the blog to ensure you never miss another post.

In addition to subscribing you can also follow America’s Watchtower on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the links on the right. But you will get more than that for I often post links to articles I probably will not be writing about so it is a great way to keep up with what is happening.

The Twitter widget in the sidebar is fully interactive. This widget updates my tweets in real time and allows you to respond to or retweet my tweets right from the blog. It also allows you to tweet me right from America’s Watchtower. How cool is that! If you do not have a Twitter account what better reason do you need to sign up for one!

Coming in at number nine on my all time favorite band list is alternative rockers Echo and the Bunnymen. I have included four videos which total six songs. First up is a live, and slightly extended, version of the title track from their debut album “Crocodiles.” This particular version is from 1983.

The second video, also from 1983, includes “The Cutter” and the song which introduced me to the band–“The Killing Moon.”

The third video includes “The Game” and the song which might be their biggest hit, I am not sure–“Lips Like Sugar.”

And lastly I give you my favorite Echo and the Bunnymen song entitled “All My Colours (Zimbo)”

  Enjoy:

Hello Steve, I will listen every video of Echo, meanwhile Trey Gowdy might no be a Candidare but I surely wish he’ll be a part of a government GOP of one sort or another ….

    And, Woven Hand :

SDL, I totally agree with Trey Gowdy about Lois Lerner. The problem is, even though he is correct, nothing will be done to her, it has already been decided by “those that be”.
I like this Woven Hand, very mello sounding and easy to listen to!

What’s bother me with this administration is that they get around the Law and make their ways as they like.
        So much for transparency…
When you have such a corrupt Government don’t be surprised by the raise of criminalities.
As well abroad Where Soldiers are on the ground.

Yes Zimbo does have a Joy Division sound to it, it is a little different than the rest but it is my favorite by this band.

My #7 for this Sunday is Harry Nilsson. He was a gifted song writer and played the piano wonderfully. He had a unique voice and did voice overs where it sounded like 3 or 4 people singing on some songs, but it was all HIM. He wrote songs for other people and did jingles for commercials and for alot of tv programs. He was a sad, shy person and had alot of emotional issues, as well as drug problems. It is sad he was not around longer. Enjoy his songs!

Not sure what happened above, if you could take those 2 songs out, I would appreciate it, Steve. I did NOT put those there:

This one is my favorite of his!

This last one, I will leave it up to you IF you want to listen to it, it has a bit of bad language in it, but it will show the diverse songs that Harry had:

I removed the other two videos, that was strange wasn’t it? I find that Youtube sometimes continues playing after the song I am listening to ends. Perhaps that is what happened any you copied the wrong link? I don’t know, just a guess.
Very talented! I have heard a few of his songs and I have to admit I really liked the last one. I have no problem with foul language and while I don’t swear in front of women and children I have been known to let it fly at work! 🙂

Everybody’s Talkin’ at first few notes I remember that Song, Yes like you said Lou, idendification with points in life. “Without You” been sang by so many that I don’t relate necessarily with Nilsson. For The F word…have to remember that Radio of the Time were scarred that Sponsors complained, so that not everything went to Air. Did have to wait for the Free Radio which was illegal but offer a more wide range artists and songs. lol

Bernie Goldberg was on O’Riley and he put a name to what I have long observed, and will put Hillary in the White House. He called it the Suicide Wing of the Republican party, and my God is he right.
We have heard it every election “….if my candidate isn’t the nominee, then I am going to stay home…” Boy, will that every teach Hillary a lesson.
Goldberg said he did think the Dems had a similar Suicide Wing. They always have a hard time getting out the vote, but that is laziness, not philosophical.
As they say, there are two parties; the party of the stupid, and the party of the destructive
And we know we are the former..

Bruce, there is just not a whole lot of difference between the parties, that we can put a descriptive label as you said doesn’t bode well for either party. People are tired of the crap coming out of the White House and the House and Senate. I know people that will sit out the vote for that same reason, to “show them”! How misinformed they are and do not see the damage that will do! I do like to hear what Bernie has to say, he is one of the few voices of reason in this whole mess.

If the Republicans fielded a candidate which drew a clear distinction between the two parties I think they would fare better.

It is a good point and we have seen that in the last two Presidential elections. I always swear I will not vote for the lesser of two evils, and I have said it this time around, but in the end I always go to the polls and do what I swore I would not.

Like they say, you got to play the hand your dealt. I guess you can fold and walk away, but nobody has ever won doing that.
As I have said before, I don’t have much use for political parties, but there is simply no way I believe Cruz, Paul, Rubio, and maybe Walker and Jindal are ANYTHING like anyone the Dems have. Not one of them wants to “fundamentally transform” what America was, although they would transform Oblabla’s transformation.
Even Jeb, if he gets the nomination, would be so much different than Hill-a-beans administration that no comparison could be made. You tell me one single Rep who would kow-tow to Iran? Russia? Cuba?
Even if a Rep President and congress did nothing, that would be a huge improvement over what we have, and will have when the suicide wing stays home.

You nailed it, we have to play the hand we are dealt. It is not always a good hand and any Republican will be better than any Democrat at this point but the thought of Jeb being our nominee sends chills down my spine!

Jeb Bush is the main one I am concerned with. The others, as you said, would be an improvement over Clinton or who else the left might run. I am just so tired of the same old stuff. They talk a good talk, but then we hear what they really think and I am just not impressed. I am also tired of the Administration doing everything they can to take the middle class down. We are struggling as it is, we do not need their “help”. Bruce, that is my fear, that we will have people staying home from voting and have illegals voting in their place.

First battles of the American Revolutionary War on April 19, 1775
Oddity: ‘patriot day’ is 911 (oxymoron) – A photOP showing the leadership of that time with their hands on their hearts and acting all solemn – the very ones responsible for it and the coverup ~ despicable.

This is what he wrote in the description for the Patriot’s Day vid: “The above photos clearly speak to the fact that the end game for Jade Helm 15 is not martial law, it is World War III and the United States military is preparing to be attacked. If you are shaken to the core, as I was, and you should be, you need to fully realize that these reports on Jade Helm are not an exercise in fanciful speculation. America is about to change forever and we are all in a great deal of danger. THIS IS NOT A DRILL!”

It is sad, but I believe reports coming from OUTSIDE the country more than I believe any media reports from within. None of what is in the videos shocks me, it could very well be in the making. The fact that Obama is the one in control when this is happening, is what is scary, he and his Administration could not handle mass chaos.

Yes, it’s difficult to get the real scoop these days with so much propaganda (here and abroad). In the description under his Patriot vid he notes: Dove Hodges “The Common Sense Show” which has a write up he refers to. Here’s a new one my brother told me about that you might like Lou (& Steve!): Jim Stone http://jimstone.is/ If you scroll down you’ll see info about Fukushima sabotage – reminds me of ww2 A-bomb, just an updated version.

It is pretty sad that we can get better information from the foreign press than our own press but of course the MSM has an agenda and decide what to report and what to ignore. In days gone by they were able to control the information but with the internet they are losing influence.
