Open thread for Sunday, May 3rd: ‘The Number of the Beast’

May 3, 2015

open-thread  Here is the open thread for Sunday, May 3rd. Please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.

Last week we covered 11 stories, did you miss any of them? If so there is an easy way to make sure it does not happen again. I understand that all of you are busy and cannot always find the time to check the blog for updates so why not subscribe to America’s Watchtower and receive email updates whenever I write a new post? That is the easiest way to follow the blog to ensure you never miss another post.

In addition to subscribing you can also follow America’s Watchtower on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the links on the right. But you will get more than that for I often post links to articles I probably will not be writing about so it is a great way to keep up with what is happening.

The Twitter widget in the sidebar is fully interactive. This widget updates my tweets in real time and allows you to respond to or retweet my tweets right from the blog. It also allows you to tweet me right from America’s Watchtower. How cool is that! If you do not have a Twitter account what better reason do you need to sign up for one!

I hope you all are wide awake and have had your coffee this morning but if you are still a little blurry-eyed perhaps the band coming in at number 7 on the countdown of my favorite bands will help to jar you awake. Sticking with last week’s theme, heavy metal band Iron Maiden comes in this week at number 7.

Iron Maiden is not your typical metal band lyric-wise as they often write about historical events, WWI, WWII, Greek mythology, literature, and much more. They could be considered a thinking man’s metal band because many of their songs are based on previous writings and historical events.

Up first is “Two Minutes to Midnight” which is of course a reference to the Doomsday Clock:

“Blood is freedom’s stain”

Next up is a song about the Battle of Britain, it is entitled “Aces High” and includes an into with part of the iconic speech Winston Churchill gave to the British people when the Germans were attacking during WWII.

The third video I have decided to include is one of my favorite Iron Maiden songs and it is about a man on death row as he deals with his fate, it is entitled “Hallowed be thy Name.”

Mark my words believe my soul lives on
Don’t worry now that I have gone
I’ve gone beyond to seek the truth

When you know that your time is close at hand
Maybe then you’ll begin to understand
Life down there is just a strange illusion

And lastly I give you the title track from “The Number of the Beast.” This song and album is interesting because at the time of its release it was quite controversial in the United States. The same country which was born on the  concept of the freedom of speech and on the freedom of religion seemed to have turned on those ideals when some groups labeled the band Satan worshipers and called for the burning of this album. The song was actually inspired by a nightmare bassist Steve Harris had after watching Damien: The Omen II.

I really like this band, thanks for sharing I am going to have to check them out more closely! Great version of A Forest but of course you are going to have to wait several more weeks to hear The Cure here in my countdown.

No, just in a hurry, have to head back outside and finish up a few things and put stuff away. Did not want to wait too late to post.

I’m late, I’m late! Been cleaning the patio and outside furniture, grill, etc…putting flowers out, should have done it before now, but now it is done, for awhile.
My #5 for this week is Bon Jovi. I bet you did not guess I would like this group? He never seems to age and I think he is pretty well liked by a plethora of age groups:

I have been patiently waiting all day for your number 5 favorite and I have to admit this one surprised me! 🙂 I am not a big Bon Jovi fan but I do like some of their music. Runaway is probably my favorite. I have always liked this song:

Yep, a good song! Sorry about the wait, but things have to be accomplished first before I can sit down at the computer. You have to admit that Bon Jovi is ageless, he just keeps getting better looking every year, kind of like Sam Elliot, but that is another story!

Yes I do admit he is ageless, and speaking about being ageless so is Prince. It is amazing that he still basically looks like he did in the ’80’s!

Now you are talking with Iron Maiden, I was 21 when the band started up. This was a group where you cranked the stereo up in your car and drove a bit faster than you should have. My favorite song is:

This is one of my favorite Maiden songs and I almost used it today. I had not seen this version but I love the way it is interspersed with scenes from The Charge of the Light Brigade, thanks for sharing!

Ya, sometimes we can find some pretty cool videos. I wish they had some from older bands, but it just wasn’t done that much. I still have the “driving songs” I put on a flash drive when I am going on a long trip, much better than listening to stuff stations MAKE you listen to. I will tell you that the stations down thru Missouri and Arkansas leave a bit to be desired other that KSHE in St. Louis, that is a classic station and always has been good.

There is not much around when it comes to live footage of older bands but there are some interesting slideshows that people have put together. But it is not the same..

Yeah, this is the Hegelian Dialectic on full display and it is only going to get worse as the days go on. Obama has been trying to insight this for quite some time in an attempt to divide and conquer and sadly it appears to be working.

It’s a tough reality, but knowing it and that the Globalist (Illuminati & whoever) are taking over the world – more than they have since Nimrod’s Tower – it’s good to have like-minded friends & acquaintances to communicate together what is and what isn’t! Rock on with the Rock of Truth!

This divide and conquer strategy has been used for quite some time and it is very successful, I wish more people would wake up and realize what they are doing to us.

I agree that there is alot of “pre-staging” going on. Look at the riots with all their matching t-shirts and printed up signs, imagine they were handed out at a “staging area” somewhere. If you listen to some of the people, they will tell you that it is not the people living there that are causing the trouble, but bused in people, sometimes from out of state. This smells of Sharptons doings, doesn’t it?

Also, came across this regarding the Jade Helm 15 that you might find interesting. It’s been done in the past and they just brushed it off, updated it and nows it’s time to release it out on the masses. I still think it’s connected to the Baltimore phenomenon. Something to peruse:

Right … Is .. Is. Compliments of ‘over-throw the country usurpers.’ Lou is it Martial Law when those doing it are our enemies? OR IS it called something else? Like an Enemy Invasion or something like THAT!

Well, judging from all the foreign countries doing “exercises” over in OUR country, it could very well be an enemy invasion. However, our government holds to it being for our OWN protection. Now, ask me how much I believe what our government tells me?
