Open thread for Sunday, May 10th: ‘Sacred Heart’
Here is the open thread for Sunday, May 10th. Please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.
Last week we covered 13 stories, did you miss any of them? If so there is an easy way to make sure it does not happen again. I understand that all of you are busy and cannot always find the time to check the blog for updates so why not subscribe to America’s Watchtower and receive email updates whenever I write a new post? That is the easiest way to follow the blog to ensure you never miss another post.
In addition to subscribing you can also follow America’s Watchtower on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the links on the right. But you will get more than that for I often post links to articles I probably will not be writing about so it is a great way to keep up with what is happening.
The Twitter widget in the sidebar is fully interactive. This widget updates my tweets in real time and allows you to respond to or retweet my tweets right from the blog. It also allows you to tweet me right from America’s Watchtower. How cool is that! If you do not have a Twitter account what better reason do you need to sign up for one!
We continue with the heavy metal theme this week as coming in at number 6 is the little man with the big voice: Ronnie James Dio. Ronnie James Dio was the front man for Elf and Rainbow before being tapped by Black Sabbath to be Ozzy’s replacement, and eventually struck out on his own. This post is quite timely because this Saturday, May 16th, will mark the fifth anniversary of Dio’s passing at the age of 67. Here is a post I wrote about Dio back then.
“They say that life’s a carousel
Spinning fast, you’ve got to ride it well
The world is full of kings and queens
Who blind your eyes and steal your dreams”
Here is Dio performing “Sacred Heart” live in 1985:
Towards the end of this video you might have noticed Dio singing “you’re the last in.” That is in reference to another Dio song entitled “The Last in Line.” Here is that song from 1985 which includes some lyrics from the song “Holy Diver.”
Next up is “Don’t Talk to Strangers” from 1986:
Well, while my all time favorite list will continue next week with number 5, this brings an end to my favorite heavy metal bands but I cannot bring this post to a conclusion, especially in light of the fact Dio once fronted Black Sabbath, without giving out an honorable mention to Black Sabbath and Ozzy. Let’s face it, no heavy metal list can be complete without at least mentioning Black Sabbath!
Here is “Children of the Grave” as performed live in 1974:

Hello Steve, Hello Lou and Zip and all the Others..
This Week Have Been Buzy.
Can’t believe to hear or read that Pamela Geller is “GUILTY” for the death of two terrorists and the injured Policeman…
Can’t believe that the guilt of letting those terorrists is more important, who’s the guilty ? and in what form ? The Sharia supporter lost two of their own for some drawing !!
The Guilt, is a weapon, and Pamela Geller shall’nt be a Victim !!
Here The Cramps
And a Swiss one

Well, SDL, I like the first video better than the second one. As for Pamela Geller, one doesn’t have to agree or disagree with her to know she has the freedom to do what she did. We are supposed to bend over backwards for Muslims so as not to offend them. Does it work both ways? NO! I also doubt that Ms. Geller will stop what she is saying because someone might be offended. I am offended that there is someone that thinks she should. Last time I checked, if you are in the USA, you have that right.

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
If this is SO, then WHY would some foreigners have the ability to control our speech and get away with it? More to the point, why would our GOVERNMENT allow them to do it?

A great question Lou and that is exactly what political correctness is–an attempt to control our speech and our thoughts!

I like the Cramps but had not heard the other one before–interesting. It is sad to see the way Geller is attacked while the ideology of the terrorists is excused but I have to admit I am no longer surprised.

Hey Swiss, those are a bit out there for me but … Different, and expressive!
Re: Pamela and the Garland TX event. Articles are indicated that ‘no one was killed or shot.’ Story Leak writes: “Was Pamela Geller used to set up another false flag shooting by fake Jihadists in Garland, TX?” http://www.storyleak.com/garland-texas-shooting-another-false-flag-operation-blamed-on-and-claimed-by-islamic-jihadists/

That was interesting and even if this is not a false flag the man still makes some good points. The reaction of the media by attacking Geller and excusing the terrorists shows they are using it to stifle free speech.

Just caught this site and you and this posting came to mind. If you can, check out some of these most recent vids : “Smiling Faces and Other Fakes of Garland Tx” https://www.youtube.com/user/NoDisinfo/videos?&ab_channel=NoDisinfo
‘enough said on that!

Thanks, it is going to take a little while to work through all of those!

Yeah, I got on a roll – since it can be “used” for the Agenda – no matter if Pamela knew it was going to become a false flag, the good news was like Sandy Hooks no one was killed.

Hello all, looks like this is “heavy metal” week! My #4 pic for this week is AC/DC. I was 19 when the band formed and they had more of a blues rock sound to me. They have had their ups and downs over the years, but have stayed together….lost a few members here and there, as well, like most bands. They celebrated their 40th anniversary of performing and are still touring. They have their “Rock or Bust World Tour” starting up and will be in my neck of the woods, CHICAGO in September, would love to go see them perform at Wrigley Field! This group is going the way of the Stones, performing til they can’t perform no more, as they say! They may not have the range on vocals like they did in their youth, but they can take us back to ours, that is the reason for loving all these “older” groups that still want to perform for us….I give you AC/DC,
My personal favorite that is on my “driving music”
Happy Mother’s Day to all you mothers out there! Today is our day to procrastinate, I guess. Of course I will find all sorts of stuff I need to get done anyway!!!

Ok, it did it to me again!!! I had 4 different songs listed and this is what it pulled. I made sure they were different. Any suggestions to why it does this?

It worked this time. I hate computers sometimes.

I have no idea why this has happened to you twice now, so I am of no help there.

That guitar player sure knew how to ‘move along the stage’ didn’t he! Slowed down a bit since then! That voice is distinctive – when heard you know who it is.

He wears a little school boy look, but guess it works for him! Ya, he can still move across the stage. There are alot of the old groups that can still give a good performance, I am glad they are still touring, it would be a big loss if they did not.

The ‘sch. boy look’ just seemed so opposite of the group’s theme or image … to me. But like you said it worked for him. Reminded me of ‘Cheap Trick’ and the guitar player who dressed funky and wore the cap.

I guess ever era has their “look”, some were just a little more strange than others. I like to look back at the females with hair teased up 6 inches high and the guys with shags and perms, what were they thinking? Also the platforms and bell bottoms, etc… however everything seems to be coming back, if only I had kept that stuff. I would be “stylin” now, haha! Maybe older and wiser, but still “stylin”. Nothing ever seems to be invented, just recycled and the kids do not even know it.

Steve, DIO was a more subdued heavy metal, but loved the voice. As for Black Sabbath, they were a little crazier! I believe I have outdone you on the HEAVY heavy metal today, my friend. 🙂

I like AC/DC but no, I am not going to admit you one upped me this week! 😉
Personally I like the Bon Scott songs the best and The Jack is one of my favorites, thanks for sharing. I also love Jailbreak and Whole Lotta Rosie. And the whole Back in Black album stands the test of time.
Every year we go to a party over Columbus Day weekend the the host’s favorite band is AC/DC, he always has a tribute band play called Problem Child and it is amazing how much the singer sounds like Bon Scott.

-Yes thinking no one could replace Bon Scott… and my favorite and only album I’ve got from AC/DC is : Back In Black…
-It was nice to see Ozzy…Young..
-Pamela Geller is a Bold Woman, She was against the Idea that some had, to build a Mosque at Ground Zero! Can you believe that ! Those SOB clear the ground build the mosque (and it is a good thing) Like they do where ever they are take away the Church, Temple and put their mosque in place…
Subjugation, subjugation and subjugation !

You are right, history has shown they build Mosques after a conquest and that is what they wanted to do here as well.

The Jam – Going Underground
First part of Lyrics:
Some people might say my life is in a rut
But I’m quite happy with what I’ve got
People might say that I should strive for more
But I’m so happy I can’t see the point
Something’s happening here today
A show of strength with your boy’s brigade
And I’m so happy and you’re so kind
You want more money – of course I don’t mind
To buy nuclear textbooks for atomic crimes
And the public gets what the public wants
But I want nothing this society’s got
I’m going underground (going underground)
Well, let the brass bands play and feet start to pound
Going underground (going underground)
Well, let the boys all sing and let the boys all shout for tomorrow
Some people might get some pleasure out of hate
Me, I’ve enough already on my plate
People might need some tension to relax
Me, I’m too busy dodging between the flak
….
These braying sheep on my TV screen
Make this boy shout, make this boy scream!
I’m going underground (going underground)
Well, let the brass bands play and feet start to pound
Going underground (going underground)
Well, let the boys all sing and let the boys all shout,
Going underground (going underground)
Well, let the brass bands play and feet go pow, pow, pow
Going underground (going underground)
So let the boys all sing and let the boys all shout for tomorrow
