Elizabeth Warren tells Barack Obama to declassify TPP text

May 11, 2015

elizabeth-warrenThere is a battle raging between Barack Obama and Elizabeth Warren over the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal, a deal the President wants fast-track authority to pass. This battle ratcheted up a notch when Elizabeth Warren slammed the deal saying it could lead to the Republicans picking apart Dodd-Frank at some point in the future.

Barack Obama then struck back by saying “she is absolutely wrong” and this was nothing but “pure speculation” on the part of the first-term Senator from Massachusetts. (I have a conspiracy theory about this little spat which can be read here.)

Today Elizabeth Warren fired back: as you might know, the TPP is super secret and members of the Congress must jump through hoops just to read what is in it, and today Elizabeth Warren lashed out at the secrecy surrounding the deal by stating Barack Obama should declassify the text so the American people can see what is in it.

Here is part of what she had to say:

“If the president is so confident it’s a good deal, he should declassify the text and let people see it before asking Congress to tie its hands on fixing it,”

Well, this is one time–GASP–when I have to agree with Elizabeth Warren but of course the TPP will have to be passed so we can find out what is in it…

I love it when two radical leftists fight & one is pointing out that the other is keeping info secret from the public . . . only thing is, it obligates me to find out more … grumble, grumble! I’d rather we just shut down the gov-ment for a while …

It is entertaining but I get the feeling this is a precursor to Warren running for President. It is almost like they are using this as a promotional gimmick.

I think she is going to get in the race and yes it will be interesting and fun to watch…until she wins the nomination and has a real shot at the Presidency, and then we may be wishing she did not.

Bravo for Elizabeth Warren. It’s about time the terms of this trade deal be made public knowledge. We’ve been sold out too often in secrecy, behind closed doors. Where do these people get off thinking they can make these agreements that literaly devastate our economy and rob us of our local democratic rights?

Exactly, there is no reason to hide this from the people until after it is too late! For once she has said something I agree with!

When these deals are being made on our behalf and it is being done behind closed doors and in secrecy, then I would hardly consider it legal or binding.

Don’t be so giddy. As we used to say when we were allowed our colloquialisms before PC overtook the 1st amendment, “There’s a n___r in the woodpile.”

Yeah, it will be fun but of course she could actually become President if she runs and then we won’t be laughing.
