Open thread for Sunday, June 14th: ‘Reapers’
Here is the open thread for Sunday, June 14th. Please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.
Last week was a slow week as we only covered 7 stories, but did you miss any of them? If so there is an easy way to make sure it does not happen again. I understand that all of you are busy and cannot always find the time to check the blog for updates so why not subscribe to America’s Watchtower and receive email updates whenever I write a new post? That is the easiest way to follow the blog to ensure you never miss another post.
In addition to subscribing you can also follow America’s Watchtower on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the links on the right. But you will get more than that for I often post links to articles I probably will not be writing about so it is a great way to keep up with what is happening.
The Twitter widget in the sidebar is fully interactive. This widget updates my tweets in real time and allows you to respond to or retweet my tweets right from the blog. It also allows you to tweet me right from America’s Watchtower. How cool is that! If you do not have a Twitter account what better reason do you need to sign up for one!
This is the week in which I was supposed to reveal my number one all time favorite band but most of you already know who it is so I have decided to do an honorable mention post this week, if you do not know who my all time favorite band is I apologize but you will have to wait one more week.
Before I get to the honorable mentions I am going to post two videos from bands who have already made the countdown: last week I revealed Muse as my number two favorite band and this week they released a brand mew CD which I have been listening to quite a bit. Here is my favorite song from the new CD which is entitled Drones. The song is called “Reapers.”
The Talking Heads came in tied at number four but somehow I forgot to include my favorite song from that band so here is “Crosseyed and Painless.”
Now on to the honorable mentions: Here is Depeche Mode performing “People are People.”
Here is the Violent Femmes performing “Add it Up.”
This next band had no chance at making the top ten but I have always loved this song; here is Smoking Popes performing “Need You Around.”

There are some album or band that you can’t listen to anymore, like Lou did describe it like a jump in time, they can bring to good but also not good time. Cure is one of this band, except their First Album where Cure is not yet defined.
Certain Cover are however adding for a song to create an new ambiant so an new perception

SDL, had not heard these songs. I am not sure if I like them or do not like them….will play them again to make sure. Yes there are groups that I just cannot listen to because of what was going on at the time. I think that sticks with all of us. This was a not so good time in your life? The good thing is that each day is a new start over, hopefully and we move on….take care! We have massive amounts of rain coming over the next 10 days, the garden will enjoy it, but my hair will not!

We are trying our hand at a small raised bed garden this year for the first time. Last year we did a container garden and it worked well so this year we decided to go for it. So far I am worried about what it looks like though, I hope it will be okay.

Have not done a raised bed, but do like the looks of them and it saves the back, haha! We put down lots of compost while tilling that we have “cooking” over the winter and spring, them newspaper, then more compost and a pvc pipe watering system under that last layer of compost, just hook the hose up and let it water….the newspaper actually keeps alot of moisture in the ground where we do not water alot. This will be MY garden since the husband will be leaving for a couple months shortly. Should be “fun”. Good luck on your garden.

Thanks, this is our first attempt at any garden other than the container garden so who knows what is going to happen! 🙂 We figured it would be easier than tilling the soil and trying to get something going from there.

TIB is a great album which was released in America as Boys Don’t Cry but it had a few song changes. The songs which were left off are some of my favorites from that period. That was a very interesting and different version of A Forest. I always like it better when a band covers a song and makes it their own instead of trying to sound too much like the original.

Going to leave us hanging another week? That is just like you, Steve! My take on your videos this morning: Loved the new Muse song,,,,reminds me of the old movie Crossroads where there are dueling guitars with dealing with the devil, best part of the movies was the guitar playing, the rest was cheesy. The Talking Heads song is very laid back almost sounding a little like Santana….Depeche mode is not my favorite, but I listened…Violent Femmes was a surprise to me…I half expected him to lead into the Harry Belafonte Banana boat song with the Day…you know Day-o….I really liked the song….Smoking Popes was a very upbeat song, liked it!

SDL already nailed my number one this week, my only problem is going to be trying to narrow it down to only a few songs. That is part of the reason I decided to take an extra week. I always loved that Smoking Popes song; the CD that one is on is the only one I own by that group but it is really good.

Zip, it doesn’t matter what we think anymore. We have “people” that will make sure we are taken care of….not sure if taken care of for the good or the bad….I have a feeling it is NOT in our best interest. We put these people there, now we will pay for it, won’t we? I seriously doubt that making the phone calls and telling them what WE think will make a difference, there is an agenda that will be pushed thru. This is not going to end well!!!!!

Problem is we tend to believe ‘liars’. Just thinking today Lou, after watch a vid talking about the UN red cross trucks being transported on the Interstate, and hearing his ‘hype’ over ‘busting’ / exposing them. If they didn’t want these vehicles to be seen they wouldn’t be. Big GREEDY Biz and Power Policy maker’s are having their days of heaven on earth – since the corrupt are in charge. I wonder if we really did ‘vote them in’? I’ve sent 3 emails to our local ‘area Congressman’ and requested a reply. Do you think I’ve received one? No. It’s ‘all about them’ Lou and their wants and desires! It’s better to know than not though.

How quickly the ones here in Illinois we voted in based on what they were going to do, changed colors. You can call and write and no answer. You can see that they change very quickly, however, once they are there they do what they want.
The videos of transported vehicles are pretty plentiful now. If it is not the UN, it is the Army, I wonder like you if they just WANT us to see them. It could be a form of intimidation to make us back off OR it could be that they are trying to get everyone used to the fact this is going on and it becomes NORMAL! At what point do we not want to know anymore? I would say there are many that just do NOT want to know, you know, what they don’t know cannot hurt them!!!! I doubt that will be very comforting when the shit hits the fan…..people saying “we didn’t know”, that will not make a bit of difference.
