Draft dodging Donald Trump attacks John McCain’s war record

July 18, 2015

Donald Trump and John McCain have been having a little spat as of late but today he crossed the line by mocking the Senator from Arizona for being captured in Vietnam. Here is what he had to say about John McCain’s war record.

“He’s not a war hero,” said Trump. “He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”

donald trumpHe has since tried to walk back this comment by stating that John McCain has not done enough for veterans and he might be right about that, I have not looked into his record on this, but that is clearly not what he was saying when he attacked John McCain’s service to this country.

I do not like John McCain as a Senator and I certainly did not like him as a Presidential candidate but those are separate issues from his military service and Donald Trump went too far in an effort to get more headlines. He confused the Republican base’s opposition to John McCain’s political life with their support of his military record and I think this will come back to haunt him.

But seeing as how Donald Trump brought up John McCain’s military record I thought it would be appropriate to look at his military record and I found out he received several deferments which allowed him to avoid the Vietnam War.

Here is a story from 2011:

Newly released documents suggest that a young Donald Trump received several deferments that could have allowed him to avoid service in Vietnam, contrasting claims he made this week that he missed the draft solely because he had a high lottery number.

Trump, who has hinted in recent weeks at a possible run for the White House, told WNYW, the New York Fox affiliate, that he was “lucky” to avoid the draft and remembered the lottery taking place while he was a student at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.

“I was going to the Wharton School of Finance, and I was watching as they did the draft numbers and I got a very, very high number and those numbers never got up to,” Trump said.

In that conversation Trump did not mention he also received several deferments.

According to his Selective Service records, first obtained by the website The Smoking Gun through a Freedom of Information Act request, Trump received four student deferments between 1964 and 1968 while in college and an additional medical deferment after graduating.

Trump received his first two student deferments while enrolled at Fordham University in New York City in June 1964 and December 1965. He transferred to Wharton as a sophomore that year and received another two 2-S deferments in December 1966 and January 1968 during his last year of college.

He was classified “available for service” (class 1-A) in November 1966, but just three weeks later in December 1966 he was given a new student deferment.

Upon graduation Trump, the son of a wealthy New York City real estate developer, was no longer eligible for student deferments.

In October 1968, he was declared medically unfit to serve except “in time of national emergency,” even though he had been declared fit to serve in 1966.

In 1972, Trump was ultimately declared ineligible for service and given a final 4-F deferment

Donald Trump claimed he only avoided the draft during Vietnam because he was “lucky” he had a high draft number but it appears as if there was more than luck involved. But even if he was “lucky” to avoid the draft he could have volunteered to serve before he was mysteriously declared unfit for duty; that is what  John McCain did. Hell, even John Kerry volunteered to serve…

I criticize no one who avoided going to that hell hole that was kept alive and kicking for so many years by government contractors. I was 4-F (diabetic). I knew enough friends and acquaintances who were either killed or family members of those killed; for what? John McCain is a disgrace for the quality of the public service he has performed. If he wants to be a hero he can go to the southern border of his state he has no eagerly sold out and kick some illegal ass with his states National Guard and dare and the man whose ass his head is up to try and stop the war hero. He’s an obnoxious jerk obviously bought and paid for like so many of his asshole colleagues.

And another thing: McCain plays his “war hero” card not unlike his African american “friends” play the race card and his feminist “friends ” play the abused by the patriarchal white male card. DISCRETION IS THE BETTER PART OF VALOR. McCain must have cut class when that lesson was taught.

I hear you Peter. Good point of using that ‘playing card’. McCain is a major nut-case and big player in anti-American policies and under the table dealings. If ‘dumbed down’ people aren’t voting for him then the voting machines are fixed to keep him in – we know how that works!

Maybe you should talk to Vets who were there. McCain was nicknamed the Hanoi Hilton songbird. His Vietnamese capturers soon realized their POW, John Sidney McCain III, came from a well-bred line of American military elites. McCain’s father, John Jr., and grandfather, John Sr., were both full Admirals. A destroyer, the USS John S. McCain, is named after both of them. The Vietnamese offered to release him. McCain refused, apparently realizing how it would look and the questions that would be asked. Compared to others, he was extremely well treated.
REP. DORNAN: In Hanoi, he saw McCain turn red in the face. He even used the term “Rumblestiltskin” [sic], jumping up and down in place in a rage: “If you release any of these records that you have here in Hanoi on me or the other POWs, you will NEVER get diplomatic recognition.”
“McLamb said the POW’s told him that McCain had sustained two broken arms and a leg injury from not pulling his arms in when he bailed out of his A-4 Skyhawk that was shot down over the Truc Bach Lake in Hanoi. The POW’s said that McCain made 32 propaganda videos for the communist North Vietnamese in which he denounced America for what they were doing in Vietnam.”…”Several Vietnam veterans groups do solely exist to expose McCain’s abandonment of veteran’s interests as well as his lies about being tortured, including Vietnam Veterans Against John McCain and U.S. Veteran Dispatch.
Retired Army Colonel Earl Hopper, a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam, contends that the information that McCain divulged classified information North Vietnam used to hone their air defense system…McCain told his North Vietnamese captors, “highly classified information, the most important of which was the package routes, which were routes used to bomb North Vietnam. He gave in detail the altitude they were flying, the direction, if they made a turn… he gave them what primary targets the United States was interested in.” Hopper contends that the information McCain provided allowed the North Vietnamese to adjust their air-defenses. As result, Hopper claims, the US lost sixty percent more aircraft and in 1968, “called off the bombing of North Vietnam, because of the information McCain had given to them.”
I lost many friends in Vietnam and have always been a strong supporter of the military as well as being classified as a dependent, first as a daughter, then as a wife. However, i believe in the truth, something apparently to this day McCain doesn’t. He can’t afford for the truth to come out.

I remember my brothers friends going to war and coming back and we went to alot of funerals. I neither will criticize those that didn’t want to go or what those that were there did during their stay there or when they came home. I don’t believe, not being in those situations, I have a right to that opinion.
However, McCain in the here and now has alot to answer to with how he has voted and how he has sided against the American people. Trump is entitled to his opinion and I bet if he had to say it over again, he would be sure to word things differently. Is this enough to throw him out of the race? Hell no! There could be alot worse than that and there has been with other candidates. The Republican candidates that are afraid of him winning will come out against him as will the Democrats. Somehow I think “The Donald” will weather this…

What really happened in that war? anything for the good of America? Or just another political play using ‘expendable’ human lives. Clinton dodged the draft too – did that bother anyone when he was voted in as prez (twice), or even today? No. If that’s one thing Trump lied about, that’s small potatoes compared to what McCain and the Clintons have achieved to bring about with ISIS and drugs/fire arms/human trafficking/etc. Calling McCain a ‘Loser’ might not be ‘nice’ but have his actions helped America or helped to further destroy it? Photos of McCain shaking hands w/ ISIS then an interview of him saying “Kill them.” He’s goofy and shouldn’t even be in any leadership position. But in this wacky world run by the corrupt he and others like him are the one’s placed in positions of power and doing the will of the Globalist / Banksters – and it ain’t for your good or mine.
Serving one’s Country is admirable when it’s really For The Country, but these wars are not.
And, how ‘convenient’ that El Chapo is out of prison and just happens to be going after Trump. “Bill Clinton Tells Jeb Bush, “This Trump Thing Will Be Taken Care Of.” http://dcwhispers.com/bill-clinton-tells-jeb-bush-this-trump-thing-will-be-taken-care-of/

Should Bush win, Chelsea takes the crown in 2024. Should Clinton win, Chelsea takes the crown in2024.

If you ever watched the TV series “Fringe”, you’d ‘recall’ a scene when Olive is in the Twin Towers (in the alternative universe) and the newspaper has a headline of Chelsea running for Prez – so not too far off Peter! When the corrupt rule only the corrupt get in – following the crooked path of her parents.

If you’re into SciFi you’ll like this one. Well done – probably banked by the illuminati – filmed mostly in Canada. The themes and info though interesting. You can view it all here: http://stream-tv1.net/?s=fringe&op.x=0&op.y=0

Haha, besides the spoiling and sending home….feels good. I only have the 2 grandsons, but that is ok…they are special. Is that red hair I see on the little Dude, Peter? Sweet!
I will check out that program, have not heard of it either.
It doesn’t surprise me that Clintons and Bushes are in cahoots with each other. We know it probably doesn’t make much difference who we vote for, but at least they “let” us go thru the motions. As for Chelsea, I just do not see much of a person there, she is just in the shadows. Maybe that is how they planned it. Who knows!
