Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

November 26, 2015

Well, today is Thanksgiving Day and I would like to wish all my readers a very happy day surrounded by family and friends.

This Thanksgiving Day has a special meaning to me because one month ago I was not sure I would be here with my family to celebrate the day for reasons that most of you know about. I am so thankful for this day and now I make an effort to make sure I am thankful for every day, I will never take another day on this earth for granted no matter what challenges I face during the course of that day. Every day is special in its own way.

This is going to sound a little strange but now that it is over I am also thankful for my illness in a way because it gave me the opportunity to begin a new relationship with God. I am still working on that relationship, it is a long process after years of neglect but it is a process that I am taking on to the best of my ability and I am learning more every day about what it means to be a follower of Christ.

Again, I wish you all a happy Thanksgiving and I hope that you all have a wonderful day.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family as well. We have so much to be thankful for, and easy to forget the gifts that have been bestowed upon us.

We have many things to be thankful for Bunker, sometimes we forget that, things are overwhelming right now…maybe we need to sit back and take a few deep breaths and be glad it is not worse. Hope your Thanksgiving went well!

Now on to Christmas, Laura! My daughter in law and I ran to Walmart around 5pm yesterday to get some more milk and something for the 2 year olds sniffles…I have never been to the stores for Black Friday or now Thursday evening….hahahahaha! I will pass, they were herding us thru like cattle, had tape marking areas off with their “sales” and people standing and waiting til 6pm to grab off the stack what they were there to get…we just needing regular stuff, but had to go out of our way thru aisles to get back up to the checkouts…what a mess….I still cannot wrap my brain around the concept of how that might be fun, but it must be. Who ever wants to do it, have at it, I will run into a small store for what I need and not get drug into the Christmas Spirit, if that is what it is!
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

I have never been to the store on Black Friday either and unless it is an emergency you will never see me there! I think it epitomizes much with what is wrong with the country and it brings out the worst in people while at the same time diminishing what this time of year is supposed to be about.

Thanks, Lou, it was nice. The family was down in Memphis celebrating with my aunt, just me, my dad, and my son here at home. We had a small dinner, but it was good. 🙂

In ’74 I was part of a group of Americans selected to study overseas. Those of us who selected England were spread around but about a dozen of us wanted to get together for Thanksgiving, which of course didn’t exist there. I don’t remember what we found food wise. Potatoes and vegetables were easy. No turkey but I think goose. But it was a good time with other Americans looking for that traditional gathering.

Off topic Swiss, we are hearing that normally easy-going, easy to get along with Switzerland is reacting to the immigrant crisis. Are you seeing that?

Bruce, there doesn’t seem to be too many countries that have not been dealing with this lately. If they are liberal, they are in trouble. If they are more conservative and have some sense, they will turn them around. I do not know about YOU, but we are not made out of money so we just do not have that extra that Obama wants us to use to support some of those refugees.

A good article that we should follow here, that is IF Obama knew what was the right thing to do for America, which he clearly does NOT!

The president said the refugees were like the Pilgrims. Then I say ok, they are entitled to everything the Pilgrims were given when by the government they arrived. For a real eye opener, look at this. http://www.ijreview.com/2015/11/481372-an-eye-opening-video-youve-got-to-see-about-immigration-and-refugees-that-uses-gumballs/?utm_source=email&utm_campaign=afternoon-newsletter&utm_medium=owned

Not really helping them, but hurting the hell out of this country. We just cannot be everyones keeper, that is what it amounts to. You know if we took care of the Vets and the homeless here, I might think of being more charitable, but how many Americans are hurting? Does Obama think THIS makes him look good to the world, by taking in whoever wants to walk across the borders or float in on a boat? Or how about the ones he is flying in (for their own safety), well what about OUR safety? Have you been able to understand what goes on in his mind? I surely have not.

Well,Bruce, yes, there is a Fear. But not a fear of the unknown but of knowing exactly what’s upon our heads.. or to precise our Neck. Swiss Air Force Training a lot lately. Our Refugees capacity is Full. For the Immigration it is not passport but the potential danger that the person bring, but as his or her status take a while, it is actually a weak point. Fortunately for us, the refugees want Germany and Sweden or France and Britain.
We are not so attractive for them, it is more an International Conspiracy that Switzerland is used…
UN, WHO, CIO…of Which voices to get rid of Israel as a member, many nations refusing to compete with Israel Sports Team…IT is war also, but in a three pieces suit !

That is an interesting last sentence, SDL, “war also, in a three piece suit”! We talk about Obama as an empty suit,. Maybe the problem is WE are not watching closely who we elect here in our country and maybe we should have term limits with shorter terms. This putting people into office where they come out as millionaires has got to stop. They are not working for us, but to build up their money when it comes to retirement, at their leisure. What is it that makes your country less desirable to refugees? I know why the come HERE, but why do they not want to come THERE?

I have had family here since Sunday and have cooked and cleaned up only to cook and clean up over and over AND I would have it no other way. We have eaten so much and watched so many movies and played outside so much this week with good weather, it is always fun to have the little kids around.
Steve, I am thankful that you are getting better every day and wish you and your family an extra special Thanksgiving!

Just got them back on the road heading south to Little Rock a few minutes ago after breakfast( no one goes away hungry at my house). It is rain all the way down, so told them to be careful (ya that is the Mom in me)! Having 2 more adults and 2 little kids in the house where there is just 2 of us now is an eye opener, some how I used to do it years ago, guess I got used to the solitude! We had a good time and I made alot of meals, so guess it all went as planned. Now, for the cleaning up the dishes and putting away stuff and sheet changing and toys put away for the next trip (the boys know exactly what closet their tubs of toys are in and make a bee line to them when they hit the door). We even had good weather to get out and fly some kites. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving at their home and that you all got to see family and friend!

Here is a great kite flyer you might enjoy, he amazes me!

      Hello Lou
1)What is it that makes your country less desirable to refugees?
2)I know why the come HERE, but why do they not want to come THERE?

      1) I think because we get expectation, that thinks doesn’t from the sky. So everything is accountable. No easy pass, No bypass, if catch it’s back to the border. However I believe can’t get an eye on everyone…and that mean.. something could explode.. anywhere

      2) We don’t get welfare like other countries, and here you pay for everything, for my own I pay the medical insurance (I call them the racqueteers ) One month I didn’t pay…I have receive a letter to remind me and that they will pursuit incase of non payment…It’s like a gun pointed at you. Welfare might help me when I loose everything Roof and Food and help getting back on your feet, as money is freedom here, it’s why everybody run after it, there are no place made for beggars. Some Country like Sweden,Britain…They receive a place to stay, School for children, Food…and I don’t know what else, OH Yes, “Free Medical Insurance” that you start to think would they allow Swiss ??
Nah I travel enough in my youth, Now Switzerland is my home, I’m back with the good and the bad…Paradise is not of Earth

Thanks SDL, I had no idea Switzerland was that strict. I (wrongly) assumed it was much more socialist. That is the key, How much free stuff can I get if I invade, sorry I mean enter, that country.

Thanks SDL! So we should pattern ourselves after your country and we would not be having all these free loaders making a bee line for our borders. I know there is a happy medium and I know there are people that cannot take care of themselves and need help, but when I see generation after generation getting all the freebies, it really makes me angry. We cannot take care of the people that are here, but we sure as hell have open borders (YES we do) for anyone that wants a piece of the pie. Maybe your country is a bit TOO strict, but then again, when you sway the other direction you have the USA.
Bruce, “invade” sounds more like the truth, doesn’t it?

People Here Like Traditions and more then to be Strict, more than the money it is an heritage…A part of their Identity …lets say that at Thanksgiving You Order Pizza..Everyone is free ! ,but be abit on the Tradition and by choice, be more strict on what you do, bring order and order put in light Disorder and give security (self esteem) Sense of Belonging (Valid for Immigrant who catch a long the way)
I’ve been a Swiss Youth Rebel against that Swissness Strictness… but after seen around
I see it, as a Chance…welll also I’m Patriot like most of you isn’t ?

SDL, I think you just described the eternal struggle between Liberty and security. Dictators offer security at the cost of liberty. Personally, I’m willing to pay a high price to keep out Liberty. .

There is always someone you “owe” for that security, isn’t there? I prefer having a bit more freedom and will take care of my own family. I do not need the Government sticking their nose into everything that goes on in my family. I also am smart enough to know that there will always be a certain amount of “nose sticking” that is going to be forced on us, so I have to prepare accordingly.

That can be confused between Liberty and Anarchy….I don’t remember who said Liberty stop where the other one start… Somehow Respect. Teaching Respect is protecting liberties…
I like to thank You and Lou for this opportunity to express my self on Switzerland and other topics aswell. Switzerland is no Paradise even that certain Landscape look like it, with hard work and will, anyone can make it on a journey full of testing, that bring you near the heart of things. God Bless You!
