Rand Paul and Rick Santorum drop out of the Republican primary

February 3, 2016

Well, the candidates are starting to drop like flies in the Republican primary field after the Iowa caucuses. First Mike Huckabee dropped out and today Rand Paul and Rick Santorum joined him as members of the also-ran.

Regular readers of America’s Watchtower know that I am a Rand Paul supporter so this news is disheartening to me although not surprising, however I did think that candidates would wait until after the New Hampshire results before making a decision to leave the race.

So where does this leave me at this late date as I prepare to vote in the New Hampshire primary?

The New Hampshire primary ballots have already been printed and distributed so Rand Paul, Rick Santorum, and Mike Huckabee are still on the ballot despite their recent decisions. With Donald Trump holding a double-digit lead in the Granite State I see no harm at this point in not changing my vote. (Believe it or not there are actually 30 candidates on the New Hampshire Republican primary ballot!)

I cannot and will not vote for a lifetime liberal Democrat in Donald Trump, my vote for Ted Cruz will not change the outcome, and I certainly will not jump on the Marco Rubio bandwagon so I still intend to vote for the man whom I believe is the only one who truly understands the Constitution. I do not think it is a wasted vote to cast a vote which will not change anything considering I was voting for a candidate who was not going anywhere in the first place. Does that make sense?

It does to me and this is why: I refuse to accept the mainstream media’s narrative that any vote which is cast for someone who is not a front-runner is a wasted vote. The mainstream media determines who the front-runners are through biased coverage and polls which are designed to influence our votes and then claim if we do not go along with their narrative we are wasting our vote. They set the narrative and expect us to follow along (and in most cases we do) and I refuse to do so any longer.

I believe the only wasted vote is a vote cast against our conscience based on what the mainstream media claims is electability. We justify voting against our conscience by convincing ourselves that we must vote for the most electable candidate while forgetting the mainstream media is telling us who the most electable candidate is in the first place. I have had enough of this! The lesser of two evils is still evil…

What bothers me the most about this whole election cycle is the fact that the one candidate who believes in the Constitution was not able to gain a foothold in the election, he never had a chance, and I think it shows us we are living in a post-constitutional country whether we know it, or are willing to admit it, or not.

Lou, don’t you understand that someone has to pay for all this “free” stuff? 😉

Excuse me, but is this BERNIE talking? You know I hear him saying this and people are ok with it….he says the “middle class” will have to pay a little bit more for everyone to have the same thing…ha! I am fed up, Steve! I have said before, it is not the ones that really need it that I have a problem with, but the ones with their gold teeth, hair extensions, new cars, flat screens, x-boxes, medical/dental, schooling, baby sitting, and carts of food at the store loaded up that I have a problem paying for…these are usually very healthy “people” that could work, except for the fact they are pumping out babies so they can get MORE money and nice places to live with power bills paid and tax return money having never worked….these are the people I have an issue with. We would liked to have had more than 2 kids, but WE knew that is what we could afford. Silly us, now if we had not gotten married and I had the kids, I would have gotten all the “free” stuff, but you know what??? I had too much pride to ever think of doing that….boy did I wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning!!

Sorry, didn’t mean to wind you up! 😉 But you are 100% right and I don’t have a problem with helping the needy either but this has gotten out of control with Bernie and all the other socialists in the Democratic party who are too scared to admit they are socialists.
I wonder how many people are raising a family together but are not getting married because of all the benefits they get by being single even though they are living together. They are scamming the system.

No way is Trump a liberal anything. The real question, though, is just what is he besides a sore loser and opportunist?

He’s a chameleon, matching the background. Shall we put him on a checkerboard and see what happens?

I think you should vote for your first choice since he is still on the ballot. If you want to vote for someone else then read this: https://infogr.am/ted_cruzs_neocon_problem and this

I can recall some years ago, the Iowa caucus was considered a “nothing.” New Hampshire was the beginning of the cycle. Iowa should have remained that way. Iowa runs the primary by the Democratic party and not the State. The caucus is a joke. The pundits base the outcome of the Nationals based on what with these Iowa results? With that said, let the games begin.

Well, I am with you on that, Bunker! I am not sure that a bunch of people in a room doing a hand count warrants a legit accounting. Especially when they do it a second time and the numbers do not match so they just add some extras in. I saw some of the videos and, at best, they appear to be running around not knowing what to do. New Hampshire should be the first legit state. Iowa gets their one day of fame every 4 years, that is about it. Well, that is my opinion, anyway and I am entitled to it, I guess! I just cannot take a caucus seriously.

Bunker and Lou, this is why I am so surprised these candidates did not hang in there one more week. It seems like they should have to me, but maybe it shows us their hearts were not really into it.
