Final New Hampshire poll before the primary

February 8, 2016

At this point I cannot wait until the primary is over because between campaign volunteers and pollsters our phone seems to be ringing non-stop! Over the weekend two volunteers showed up at my door and when I saw they were wearing Jeb Bush stickers I told them I was not interested in Jeb, they said okay and I thanked them. I was kind of surprised they did not try to talk to me more but very thankful they did not.

Anyway, the last poll before the primary is out and it shows Donald Trump with a big lead still but his numbers dropped slightly, with Marco Rubio in second place ahead of Ted Cruz. Here is more:

Trump holds 31%, down two points from the February 3-6 release, but within the poll’s margin of sampling error.

Behind him, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio earned 17% support — within the margin of sampling error of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz at 14%, but significantly ahead of the fourth and fifth place candidates in the poll, Ohio Gov. John Kasich at 10% and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush at 7%.

Behind Bush, Carly Fiorina stands at 5%, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie at 4% and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson at 3%.

At this point it looks like Donald Trump should have a big victory, his support has never really wavered, and the only question will be who comes in second place. It remains to be seen if Marco Rubio’s debate performance will wipe out his Iowa bump, and it is interesting to note that Ted Cruz did not get an Iowa bump after winning the caucuses. Perhaps the alleged dirty trick by his campaign staff did indeed hurt him in the Granite State.

I have to believe this will be Carly Fiorina’s and Ben Carson’s last stand before announcing the inevitable.

Wait, Jeb had real people in the field? We haven’t seen that in the seacoast region. I’m hoping the traditional face-to-face action of the first-in-the-nation presidential primary provides some big upsets, smashing those who think they can do it all with mass mailings and robocalls.

Apparently so, this was the first time I had been visited by any campaign this year. My wife said she was also visited earlier in the week by some Jeb people.

We’ll see how organization pays off this year, in contrast to all the impersonal ads, recorded phone, and phony researchers’ calls.

Yes we will! I love the New Hampshire primary and the attention it brings to the state but I am sure going to be glad when all these robo-calls stop! We are still getting them tonight.

So Steve, how many of your fellow “Live free or die”ers will give up their and the nation’s freedom and vote for Commie Bernie?

Well, in DIxville Notch they vote at the stroke of midnight and Bernie took all 4 voted. Kasich got three votes on the Republican while Trump got two and nobody else got a vote. If that can be used as an indicator Bernie is going to win big.
He has maintained a big lead here so this is going to be interesting.

OT: Hawaii has reported cases of Dengue Fever…we are seeing alot of stuff with these darn insects lately. My Dad had Dengue Fever when in WWII up in the Naga Hills in Assam India. They hinted that later when he got Parkinsons, it might have had to do with what he had years before. Guess it could have been, who knows!

I hate when they start coming out with WHO is winning ahead of others even voting…how many people do you think just stay home then and not vote because they feel it will not count? It sets a precedent for alot when they do that….I think they should shut up…announce the voting has ended, but not WHO won that vote in that area. Just my opinion.

We have alot of snow coming in on Sunday, again, or I should say finally. We have a dusting from yesterday and a bit more today, but nothing compared to what we should get. We need the snow/rain over the winter for a good ground soaking and for the wells. We have had next to nothing.

Well Steve, it is clear that you are as representative of your state as I am of my fellow Californians. The granite state loves commies and non-consertavies. Go figure.

I am afraid you are right! After several election cycles where NH went back and forth it looks like after 2012 we have finally slipped over to the dark side for good.
