Did James Comey perjure himself today?
That is what Donald Trump’s lawyer claimed today after James Comey’s testimony was over. The issue revolves around James Comey’s decision to orchestrate the leaking of his own personal memos.
James Comey said he decided to leak his personal memos after Donald Trump tweeted that he had better hope the conversation was not taped. The problem is, according to Donald Trump’s lawyer, the New York Times article which quoted James Comey’s memos was published the day before the tweet in question. Here is more:
Trump Attorney Mark Kasowitz told reporters today at the Washington Press Club that James Comey lied during testimony while under oath!
Comey FALSELY claimed he leaked private conversations because of Trump’s tweet — which wasn’t published until the following day after the leak!
Comey FALSELY claimed he leaked private conversations because of Trump’s tweet — which wasn’t published until the following day after the leak!
Move along, nothing to see here. I am sure James Comey simply “misremembered” the sequence of events which led to his decision to leak the contents of his memos of conversations he had with Donald Trump…
malo periculosam libertatem quam quietum servitium
As I remember it…
That’s why Trump tweeted about being recorded because the Comey memo was leaked to the press first

True, he added that little caveat in there.

Oh Steve, what an apropos word you used! caveat!
Like ‘caving in’ on him.
If the Justice system works as it should – those individuals in place who do their job -this could be the needed dominos effect. Tip him and start collecting the pieces.
After checking to see how ‘caveat’ was pronounced, I saw this: Trending: NY Times: Comey’s Testimony a ‘J’accuse Moment’ = a bitter denunciation.
I wonder what begets this …

Yes, we just need one domino to fall and then more will continue to fall. I hear Trump’s lawyer is going to seek charges, maybe this will be the beginning but I am not holding my breath…

The article in question does not mention the existence of memos. As a matter of fact, it mentions unnamed sources close to Comey speaking on a condition of anonymity. From what I understand that Comey made it known what was going on with others which means that he did not necessarily perjure himself.

But there is still the fact Comey said Trump’s tweet is the reason he leaked the information even though the tweet did not come until after Comey leaked the info.

You should read the article. It credits unnamed sources not memos. Assuming that the unnamed source were not the memos, he did not perjure himself. Of course since Mr. Trump claims it must true. Amirite?
