The Congress moves to investigate Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s IT scandal

August 1, 2017

debbie-wasserman-schultzYou would not know it by listening to the McCarthyites in the mainstream media but the scandal involving the Democratic National Committee, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the integrity of the 2016 election, and the Awan brothers has exploded in the last week with the arrest of Imran Awan as he was trying to flee the country. He was officially arrested for bank fraud but Imran and his brothers are under investigation for illegally hacking into government computers during the 2016 election.

The Capitol Police have been investigating this story and as part of the investigation they are holding Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s computer as evidence. This so bothers the former head of the Democratic National Committee that she threatened the Capitol Police Chief, saying there will be “consequences” if the computer is not returned. I believe she feels there could be “consequences” to herself if the computer is not returned before they find out what is on it…

According to this story some members of the Congress are frustrated with the slow pace of the investigation and are moving to set up their own investigation, and they want a briefing from the Capitol Police. Here is more:

Congress is advancing an investigation into a growing scandal surrounding IT staffers working for Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D., Fla.), who are accused of stealing sensitive computer equipment from House lawmakers’ offices, according to senior congressional sources who told the Washington Free Beacon the Democratic leader’s refusal to answer questions could “merit resignation.”

Congressional leaders have now requested a formal briefing by Capitol Police into its investigation of several Pakistani House IT staffers who are accused of stealing sensitive computer equipment and of illegally penetrating congressional networks.

Leading members of Congress are growing frustrated with the pace of the criminal investigation and have moved to conduct their own independent probe into the scandal, according to multiple sources who indicated that the relevant congressional committees are making moves to start an investigation, which could include compelling testimony from Wasserman Schultz, who has been accused of stonewalling on the issue.

As more information about the nature and scope of the IT staffers’ collection of privileged congressional information becomes public, lawmakers are seeking to immediately begin their own investigation into the situation.

And here is more:

The scandal is said to have rocked the halls of Congress, despite little mainstream media coverage, sources said.

“The extent of the potential breaches has been made more clear” in recent weeks, according to one senior congressional source who would only speak on background when discussing the sensitive matter. “The inexplicable nature of the conduct of Wassermann Schultz and others has broadened” congressional interest.

Lawmakers are confused as to why Wasserman Schultz continued paying Awan and other staffers implicated in the breach for several months after this information came to light.

“At best for her that is gross misapplication of public funds that could merit resignation alone,” the source said. “There’s got to be more to that story.”

And more “to that story” there is: the three Awan brothers allegedly gained access to the emails of every single member of the Congress and sold the information to foreign governments.

The Democrats and the mainstream media have been breathlessly covering the Russian hacking/collusion scandal because they claim the integrity of the democratic system must be maintained, and I agree with that, however for some strange reason they do not seem to be interested in this story…

Yes poor DWS needs to be investigated by the House Ethics Committee, but DOJ needs to handle the criminal investigation. Supposedly the FBI is in possession of the smashed hard drives.

This is going to setup the Dem. for a real difficult decision. Do they cut their loses and throw DWS under the bus or do they fight the investigation.

I heard the FBI had the smashed computers also, this is hopefully going to go somewhere. If push comes to shove DWS will be pushed under the bus.

I for one am not holding my breath. There will be a presidential election in three years, plenty of time for the republicans to bumble this and for the democrats to pin this on the republicans. Cory Booker (Sen-NJ), talk about corruption, will be the next negro phoney elected president not for the content of his character but the color of his skin augmented by his campaign to legalize pot nationwide. Call me crazy but ….

Deval Patrick is probably also going to run in 2020, he is being urged by Obama’s people. I am not holding my breath waiting for anything to come from this because we have been down this route before and nothing ever comes from these investigations.
