He is risen!

  The StoneHe is risen!

This is the open thread for Sunday, April 1st, but today is too important of a day to get bogged down in the normal trivialities of the open thread.

“When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go and anoint Jesus’ body. Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, “who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?” But when they looked up they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away.” (Mark 16:1-4 NIV)

“But when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood before them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he is risen!” (Luke 24:3-6 NIV)

Here is “Hallelujah–He is Risen.” From what I have been able to glean from the internet this hymn was written in the late 1800’s, but in this version the words from this hymn are set to the tune of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.” I hope you enjoy it.

    Happy Resurrection Day Celebration!
1 Corinthians 15:14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.
“And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas [Peter], then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also [Paul on the road to Damascus & taught later the mystery of the Gospel of Grace], as of one born out of due time. 1Cor 4-8; Gal 1:15-18
Romans 4:25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. John 14:1

Noticed today is also ‘April Fools Day’.
I bring this up because recently I’d heard years ago April was considered the ‘New Year’ ~ being Spring and symbolizing new birth and new life! not January ~ cold and sleeping.
“Julius Caesar honors Roman god: In ancient Roman religion and myth, Janus (/ˈdʒeɪnəs/; Latin: IANVS (Iānus), pronounced [ˈjaː.nus]) is the god of beginnings, gates, transitions, time, duality, doorways, passages, and endings. He is usually depicted as having two faces, since he looks to the future and to the past. ….” ~ so 2 faced is what they mean!
..” following his (Julius) victory in his civil war and in his role as pontifex maximus, ordered a reformation of the calendar in 46 bc.”
The ‘sundial’ took in account days and seasons, made it simple without man’s adding in pagan gods.
Genesis 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

Great verses, thanks for sharing them! I hope you had a wonderful day today! John 14:1 is one of my favorite verses. I find that since I came back to God I am less stressed than I used to be because I have God with me and I know I can trust in Him.

That was very good, thanks for sharing it. I struggled a little but with which verses to use today. Originally I wanted to do a full harmony of the Gospels but I thought it would be too long so I chose just a few. I love the verse about “why do you seek the living among the dead?”
