Rod Rosenstein asks federal prosecutors to help review Brett Kavanaugh documents

July 12, 2018

Now that Brett Kavanaugh has been nominated by Donald Trump to the Supreme Court to replace Anthony Kennedy the vetting process has begun and there are many documents which will be poured through in the coming weeks.

It is being reported here, in what even The New York Times calls an unusual request,  that Rod Rosenstein has sent an email to all 93 US Attorneys asking for help in reviewing the Brett Kavanaugh documents. Here is more:

Rod J. Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general, has asked federal prosecutors to help review the government documents of Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh, President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, according to a letter obtained by The New York Times on Wednesday.

Mr. Rosenstein’s request was an unusual insertion of politics into federal law enforcement. While the Justice Department has helped work on previous Supreme Court nominations, department lawyers in Washington typically carry out that task, not prosecutors who pursue criminal investigations nationwide.

But in an email sent this week to the nation’s 93 United States attorneys, Mr. Rosenstein asked each office to provide up to three federal prosecutors “who can make this important project a priority for the next several weeks.” Names were to be submitted to Mr. Rosenstein’s office by the end of Wednesday.

As The New York Times article points out, it is not unusual for the Justice Department to help review documents related to a Supreme Court nominee but it is highly unusual for the request to be sent out to prosecutors. Here is more:

Former law enforcement officials described Mr. Rosenstein’s directive as a troubling precedent.

“It’s flat-out wrong to have career federal prosecutors engaged in a political process like the vetting of a Supreme Court nominee,” said Christopher Hunter, a former F.B.I. agent and federal prosecutor who is running for Congress. “It takes them away from the mission they’re supposed to be fulfilling, which is effective criminal justice enforcement.”

It looks like Rod Rosenstein has a little payback in mind for Donald Trump after the President accused the FBI of becoming too politicized and ironically, if this is the case, this just proves Donald Trump’s point.

I guess [RR] (Q’s sign for ‘target’ box) is still useful for a few matters before he’s fired and convicted. He’s one of the dark eye souls of ruin ~ how can he be a ‘qualified or respected judge of anything?’
Lies and darkness make people arrogant, sickening and crazy.

I love the look on Gowdy’s face! He knows he is being lied to and it disgusts him. I hope someday all these people get what is coming to them.

No one appreciates what this means. 300 attorneys will be unleashed by Rosenstein who now takes over the vetting of Kavanaugh. There was a report earlier that I almost posted about was that the Dems intended to obtain all the documents regarding his time with Bush. Keep in mind, he was involved in all of that vote recount in Florida that went to the Supremes. So we will now revisit all of that. Plus there are issues with the 9th circuit where he clerked for a judge how was forced to a speedy resignation. There is more… but the bottom line, Rosenstein will make sure that the work is not completed in time for an approval by the fall election. This will turn the election into a total nightmare and katty bar the door.
Kavanaugh will never get confirmed. They will make sure there is dirt..
Forget about Foster…I doubt they will even touch that… but the will do the Starr case with all of Kavanaugh’s statements on it and his conclusions.
I am totally done…..where the heck is Sessions and why did he turn this over to Rosenstein.

That is my question also. Why is Rosenstein in charge and where is the
AG? The DOJ and FBI have been so effective in stonewalling Congress so far . Why should we expect any different here? Since Kavanaugh has been under consideration for at least 2 years why aren’t all the files copied already?

Neither party has been too bright at anticipating fallout from their actions. So if this turns into an election issue, who gets blamed? Then if the Rs win more Senate seats does Trump force Mitch to steamroll the Ds?

Great questions and I think Sessions is proving more and more every day that he is part of the establishment.

I think you nailed this Bunkerville, this is going to be a nasty fight and nobody cares about this Rosenstein story but this is huge! I have a feeling Kavanaugh isn’t going to make it either because Rosenstein is doing the bidding of the left. This is sickening!
