Donald Trump ‘threatens’ to send illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities
There is some debate as to whether or not this is still on the table but yesterday it was reported that Donald Trump floated the idea of sending illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities if a solution to the border crisis cannot be agreed upon.
Some reports say that Homeland Security put the kibosh on the idea while the President said it was still on the table and reiterated the fact that he would do this if the Democrats do not work with him on a solution.
That sounds like a threat–and the media has portrayed it as a threat–if it were not for the fact that these cities have declared themselves a refuge for illegal immigrants, it seems it would be more accurate to say Donald Trump is taking them up on their offer. These are illegal immigrants who are set to be released pending hearing anyway, why not send them to a place which has already told them they are welcome?
But of course if Donald Trump proposes something it cannot be a good idea according to the Democrats, who have vowed to resist everything, and so this idea has been called an “assault on human dignity” and a notion that is “unworthy of the President of the United States” by such people as Nancy Pelosi.
Of course the idea of settling refuges is nothing new, in fact this is what the Counsel of Foreign Relations says on its website:
Refugees are resettled in one of approximately 190 communities across the country, though there are several states that generally resettle higher numbers than others. According to the State Department, Texas, Washington, and Ohio took in the highest number of refugees in fiscal year 2018, making up 20 percent of all refugee admissions that year.
So resettling refugees across the nation is nothing new and the Democrats have not complained about it in the past. In fact I would guess that in the past the Democrats would have argued taking refugees and relocating them in a community that wants them so they can start a new life is beneficial to their dignity, not an assault on human dignity. And yet here they are taking the opposite position…
Here is my take: this is not going to happen and Donald Trump knows it is not going to happen. The President was trolling the Democrats for a reaction and as usual they overreacted exactly the way he knew they would and in the process exposed themselves once again.

I’m not seeing a problem with this. Left wants them, they can have them…Of course the Left is hoping to flood conservative states with these immigrants in hopes they vote…Liberal..

That is a very good point, they already have the votes in the sanctuary cities so they want these illegals to go into strategic cities to turn red areas blue.

As a not very proud resident of one of the sanctuary cities, and being only 100 miles from the most famous sanctuary city, I think Trump has a great idea. As a resident, I would hate them living here, but it just might make some of these social Utopians wake up to the reality of life. Unicornia is like the very early church teachings where it was thought the whole universe revolves around them

Maybe it would but still I don’t think they would make the connection.

Maybe when they find their schools are totally in the crapper, and the drunk drivers are killing and maiming, and their houses looted and pillaged they might just get the hang of it. Wouldn’t count on it, but a try.

Unfortunately I believe that is what it is going to take before the liberal voters even begin to understand. The push back that some of the politicians are making shows that they know but were using this as a political tool and they have been exposed.
