Appeals Court freezes $2 billion in border wall funding
Back and forth we go on Donald Trump’s battle to reallocate some defense monies to build the border wall. When last we left this fiasco the Supreme Court reversed a freeze a lower court put on $2.5 billion.
The Supreme Court decision allowed the President to begin spending the $2.5 billion while the lawsuit made its way through the court system. Well, that lower court has now made its decision and not surprisingly the 9th Circuit Court has ruled against the President. Here is more:
A federal appeals court on Friday ruled against the Trump administration in its transfer of $2.5 billion from military construction projects to build sections of the U.S. border wall with Mexico, ruling it illegally sidestepped Congress, which gets to decide how to use the funds.
In two opinions, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals agreed with a coalition of border states and environmental groups that contended the money transfer was unlawful and that building the wall would pose environmental threats.
The rulings were the latest twist in the legal battle that has largely gone Trump’s way. Last July, the Supreme Court allowed the $2.5 billion to be spent while the litigation continued, blunting the impact of the latest appeals court action.
The 9th Circuit ruled that the Trump administration not only lacked the authority to authorize the transfer of funds, “but also violated an express constitutional prohibition designed to protect individual liberties.”
The vote on both rulings was 2-1 with judges appointed by former President Bill Clinton in the majority and a Trump nominee dissenting.
Much of the money has already been spent and this is sure to be appealed all the way to the Supreme Court, which has largely ruled in the President’s favor on border wall spending.

Guess they found another Obama judge to come out of the woodwork. Didn’t CJ Roberts say there were no Obama judges or Bush judges, etc? Seems that he is wrong. I am not real happy with him, as well. A Bush appointee and he was supposed to be Conservative. People say that President Trump has not done what he has promised. Excuse me, but the man has had a fight the whole time he has been in office. Could anyone blame him if he threw his arms up in the air and went back to his normal lifestyle? He is the only thing standing between us and a Pelosi, Obama, Schiff and Schumer dictatorship. It amazes me that there are so many braindead adults out there. I can almost understand these Antifa children that have been brainwashed in school, but older people (like me) had a somewhat normal schooling until college and I was smart enough to realize what the liberal professors were doing and stood my ground as a Conservative. I have a feeling we will see a lot more money pouring into these riots/protests before the election along with the vote-by-mail ramping up in states other than California, New York, etc. The MSM is egging them on. I see some on FOX that are doing the same. Where does it end and when it does will we recognize our Country anymore???

I know you have sons, but not sure if you have been blessed with grandchildren, yet. I not only have my kids to worry about, but the grandsons, as well. I want them to grow up in a normal world, but doubt that is an option anymore. One would think that there are some of the lawmakers that will stand up and say “no more”, but the handful that are trying are being shut down quickly. The Dems are on a roll!

No grandchildren yet and it doesn’t look like any anytime soon, which is probably a good thing with the country I fear they would be coming into. It just gets crazier everyday and I keep thinking sooner or later it has to stop but it doesn’t.

It will stop when the people that are sitting in the background watching have finally had enough. I think a lot are just waiting to see if this “crazy” heals itself. I just do not see that happening. There are too many indoctrinated young people that have been brainwashed into doing this. Then you add in the ones that have nothing else to do and they get out on the streets to do whatever it is they are told to do. What fun, hey? I watched some of the videos and when the police fight back against those kids, they cry “foul”….I think it is fair game and there should be more of it, but the police have their hands tied. We see most of the riots/protests that erupt in Democratically controlled states and cities…wonder if people ever sit back to think about that? Of course they are not going to punish these “children”, they are just having fun. Well, it is not fun anymore, they destroy peoples businesses, homes and cars that they have worked hard for. They destroy monuments that people paid money to have put up and have a “HISTORY” behind them. It may not be the history they have been taught or is acceptable to them, but that is what history is, you do not have to like it. All these beautiful statues that are being pulled down, should be protected, no matter what side of the aisle you are on, period. The country is what it is because of battles and losses of lives and they want to rewrite that? NO! They rewrite the history books, isn’t that enough? We used to have about 3 sets of encyclopedias when my kids were growing up, our house was a target for kids that had to write papers. When they grew up we finally donated them. Now I am thinking we need to go and find some from the 50’s-60’s and 70’s before they started really changing history or it will be gone. Some things should not change and HISTORY is one of them!
