Supreme Court strikes down Louisiana abortion restrictions
Louisiana passed legislation several years ago which stated in order for a doctor to perform an abortion he or she had to have admitting rights to a nearby hospital, this law had been challenged in the courts and today the Supreme Court ruled against the law. Here is more:
The Supreme Court on Monday struck down a Louisiana law that critics said could have forced all but one of the state’s abortion providers to close, granting a major victory for abortion rights supporters and signaling that the more conservative court isn’t ready to overthrow precedent on the divisive issue.
In a 5-4 ruling, with Chief Justice John Roberts casting the deciding vote, the court said the Louisiana law requiring abortion providers to have admitting privileges at local hospitals created an unconstitutional undue burden for patients seeking an abortion.
John Roberts claimed he disagreed with the decision however was forced to vote in favor of it due to precedent:
Justice Stephen Breyer, in an opinion joined by rest of the court’s liberal wing, wrote that the Louisiana law would make it “impossible for many women to obtain a safe, legal abortion in the State and [impose] substantial obstacles on those who could.” Roberts, in a separate concurring opinion, disagreed with the liberal justices’ reasoning but said he was bound by the precedent the court set just four years ago when it rejected a similar law in Texas.
“The Louisiana law imposes a burden on access to abortion just as severe as that imposed by the Texas law, for the same reasons,” wrote Roberts, who had voted to uphold the Texas restrictions in 2016. “Therefore Louisiana’s law cannot stand under our precedents.”
He seems to have forgotten it was his court which set the precedent in the first place. When can we stop saying John Roberts sided with the four liberal justices and just say the five liberal justices?
malo periculosam libertatem quam quietum servitium
Of all the bad news coming from SCOTUS, this is the least surprising. I knew that issue was was untouchable. So glad we have a Republican selection as Chief Justice. NOT!

I was not really surprised by this one either, they know abortion is a political hot button and unless there is something so egregious (like infanticide) that gets passed into law that it cannot be ignored I expect SCOTUS to leave laws in place.

The ‘Shadow Gov’ knows who ‘it’ owns.
Like the book “A Wrinkle In Time” where the evil IT control everyone and everything – people were just ‘vessels’ to use for ITs pleasure. And they didn’t even ‘know’ they were being ‘used’ (hypnotized/possessed) and ‘abused’ by IT. Some know, and like IT. The Bush fam is a ‘perfect’ example.
Funny that this book was written in 1960, before computers and IT were in fashion.

That’s scary because I think Trump is being used.

We have seen as far back as Obamacare what C J Roberts was capable of doing. Guess we knew then that he would be turning towards the left. Yes, think he was a Bush appointee, that should tell us something. When Bush was president I thought he did an ok job, until I started really watching. Now, as outspoken as he has become to criticize Trump, when he was quiet the 8 years of Obama, tells me he is not a Conservative. Then, I start looking at pictures of Obamas and the Bushes together, they are pretty good friends, it seems. Just my opinion.

I defended Bush at the time but I have changed since then. I thought Roberts was going to be the one lasting thing Bush did that was for the good but it turns out Roberts is a huge disappointment. Obamacare was the beginning of the end, I had hoped it was an anomaly but it wasn’t.

Obama care was the downfall for so many working middle-class Americans. So much for keeping your doctor and low insurance rates! It has been downhill ever since. I remember when we thought it would not become the law of the land. My husband and I were working on one of our rentals, we just knew CJ Roberts was going to vote against it. Then I believe it was Laura Ingraham on her radio program that broke the news he had sided with the liberal judges…We just stood there in disbelief! He has not surprised me after that. We always worried what Justice Kennedy would do being the swing vote as we called him. I think he had a better Conservative voting record than Roberts has had. I could be wrong, but it seems that way.

All these ‘rules & regs’ by too man of our enemies (one residing in the spiritual realm ~ Ruthie) could be simplified => them follow the 10 Commandments of GOD!
GOD makes it pretty simple for the simple minded, do these 10 things and you’ll do well. But, “well” isn’t what the ‘spirit of the world’ wants (2 Cor 4:4), rather total submission to it’s perv will. Those ‘drunk with power’ Or ‘wannabes’ bend a knee or face to the ground to the lesser god who hates them. I’d like to see ‘salt of the earth’ people being trained and equipped ‘for such a time as this’. “Battling for the Soul of America”
Interesting that this group is in CO – belly of the beast – they obviously need more participants who ‘are tactical and united’! (there’s a audio of John B Well interviewing Paul u might find interesting). https://kudosministry.org/spiritual-warfare-training/
