Democrats introduce bill to have national emergency declared on climate change
When Donald Trump declared a national emergency on the Southern border and then used that proclamation to start building a wall his supporters cheered because finally a President was not giving in to the other side or to political correctness.
In all of the euphoria there were some voices out there trying to remind the people that this could be a dangerous precedent which was being set. We tried to warn the American people that when a Democrat got back into the White House he or she could just as easily declare a national emergency on the climate or on gun violence and then use that crisis to implement an agenda the Congress was unwilling to approve. And now it looks like that warning is about to become a reality.
According to this story Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Bernie Sanders, and the usual band of suspects are introducing a bill declaring climate change a national emergency. Putting aside the fact the President does not need a bill to declare a national emergency, here is more:
The National Climate Emergency Act, introduced by Democratic Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and Earl Blumenauer of Oregon, along with Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, would direct Biden to declare a national emergency under the National Emergencies Act of 1976, allowing him to unlock sweeping presidential powers and be able to organize resources to mitigate climate change.
They had introduced a similar resolution in 2019 — but it had little hope of advancing in the Republican-led Senate and under former President Donald Trump. Now, the lawmakers have re-energized their efforts under a new administration committed to combating climate change with an ambitious plan to do so.
“We’ve made a lot of progress since we introduced this resolution two years ago, but now we have to meet the moment. We are out of time and excuses,” Ocasio-Cortez said in the statement.
She added, “Our country is in crisis and, to address it, we will have to mobilize our social and economic resources on a massive scale.”
This is precisely why many of us thought Donald Trump’s national emergency at the Southern border was dangerous and ill-advised, and now with Democrats in power the entire Democratic platform they have been trying unsuccessfully to implement for decades is going to come to fruition in probably less than a year. Educate, motivate and only when absolutely necessary legislate. That is the triad of public policy in a free society. A free people must be a (private sector) educated people. Education must be based upon a solid moral foundation. Having accomplished that a free society can make a call to reason on the part of its educated citizens to rally around a cause. Reason guided by proper moral sentiments guide people to reasonable and responsible behavior. Progressives have failed because they have undercut the foundation of education by replacing real education (private sector) with a Prussian model assembly line that turns out the equivalent of functional assembly line workers. No need for humanities, logic, the great works of Western philosophy. So when you rob the majority of a population of the tools to reason you cannot expect behaviors to be guided by reason. If the majority lack proper moral sentiments you cannot expect them to act in a moral fashion. Having accomplished that act of cultural, theological and philosophical demolition progressives and their red headed step children the New Left Progressives must now depend on negative motivation and legislation (coercion). Negative motivation comes in the form of prohibitions on behaviors and attitudes. Enforcement is social, a sort of group think based totalitarianism. If that fails state police power arrives under the guise of law and you suck on a flash suppressor while your betters scold you for aberrant behavior. If you are a slow learner you go away. We have now arrived at the point where we are the most heavily propagandized society in human history and that propaganda is simply random noise pulling subjects in every direction at once. Climate kills. Guns kill. Ask your doctor if methyl ethyl ketone is right for you. See the USA in a Chevrolet. Name your poison. You are bombarded with random noise. So now we are down to simple force. Anyone have a nephew deployed to the latest exercise of Garden Plot in DC? Coup 2020. Who noticed?

Everyone has a choice whether to listen to this noise or not…unfortunately, many preferred to lazily join the sheeple breed and I presume their offspring do not have thinking/reasoning capabilities for the very reasons you state. Thankfully, I never went down the SM rabbit hole and quickly cut the cord to the MSM propaganda, but how many of those of us who are left — 74 million or so — will fearlessly push back and not be silenced?

I also quit the MSM many years ago and I haven’t looked back. And another problem besides the MSM is social media, because the young people are getting the news there as well. They see the headlines and the memes but do not look into them.
