Harry Reid wants to end prostitution in Nevada
Harry Reid is saying that the time has finally come to end prostitution in Nevada.
I would like to add that is is well past time to end the prostitution in Washington; for we keep paying them, and they keep…..well you get the picture.
During the debate of Barack Obama’s failed stimulus package Barack Obama went on record as having said, “elections have consequences, and I won.” He said this while accepting proposals by Republicans just to let them know that because he won the election he would ultimately have the final say on which Republican proposals he would agree to. In other words he was stating that he would look at their proposals but they shouldn’t expect him to implement any of them because he won the election and he was going to do what he thought was right.
Last November we had another election and Republicans made historic gains–needless to say the election of last November had consequences and the Republicans won. So naturally the Democrats would accept this premise that elections have consequences based on the words uttered by the president during the stimulus debate, right?

Don’t believe in global warming? John Kerry thinks you are a Neanderthal
During my four plus years of blogging I have–on occasion–written about the elitist, self-serving, I know what is best for you because I am so much smarter than you politician who feels as if what they say is always enlightened and of the utmost importance. And when I describe that type of politician I feel as if there is no better embodiment of that mindset that Massachusetts senior Senator John Kerry.
John Kerry displays his elitist attitude probably more frequently than any other member in the Congress on a regular basis and he has done it once again.
At an event where John Kerry met with his constituents recently, a woman who is a global warming “heretic”–to use Barack Obama’s science czar’s–John Holdren–word confronted John Kerry. When she pressed him on the issue of global warming he called her a Neanderthal for not believing that man-made global warming was real. Eventually he apologized to the woman he is supposed to be representing in the Senate:

Barack Obama interferes in the Wisconsin union/budget battle
Barack Obama has injected himself into an area in which the president of the United States has no authority or business in the first place as he has sent his political operatives to the state of Wisconsin to help organize protests of the governor’s plan to cut back on the union benefits of state employees.
Apparently forgetting about the new era of civility that he claimed must be ushered in after the shooting in Arizona, Barack Obama called this attempt by Governor Walker an “assault” on unions. (And I thought that politicians who used words like assault were responsible for that tragic shooting.) And because unions are probably the single biggest special interest group of the Democrat party Barack Obama just couldn’t sit idly by, so he has now interfered in the business of a sovereign state–a position in which Barack Obama should have remained silent as this has nothing to do with the federal government.
But Barack Obama feels as if he is above the law, the courts, and the constitution, and this is evidenced by the fact that he has ignored court rulings in the past in regards to Obamacare and his moratorium on oil drilling, and it is evidenced in the fact that he is in the process of ignoring the constitution by implementing cap and trade and Net Neutrality even though the Congress failed to pass these bills, and now we are seeing him ignore the 10th amendment of the constitution by interfering in how a state runs its finances. Barack Obama is in the process of applying Chicago style thuggery on a national level in the state of Wisconsin but Governor Walker is less than impressed:
We are focused on balancing our budget. It would be wise for the government and others in Washington to focus on balancing their budgets, which they are a long way off from doing
He has promised that the Republicans in his state will not be bullied by the union thugs or by Barack Obama. Governor Walker made a promise to his constituents that he would balance the budget without raising taxes and that is exactly what he is trying to do. These elitist politicians continue to tell us that we have to sacrifice and that tough decisions are going to have to be made by the government because of the dire economic outlook; and here we have a case where the governor of a state is trying to make a tough decision and is asking state employees to sacrifice and what does he get in return?
He gets attacked by the very same Obama regime which preaches to us about self-sacrifice. And where are the Wisconsin Democrats during this whole fiasco? They ran away and hid so that the state would not have a quorum and would not be able to vote on this controversial issue. So much for them being willing to make the tough decisions.
The House votes to defund Obamacare and Planned Parenthood
The United States House of Representatives is on a roll as of late; yesterday the House voted to cut off funding for the FCC’s attempt to implement Net Neutrality regulations which a court had already ruled they didn’t have the authority to regulate, and today the House voted to defund both Obamacare and Planned Parenthood.
In a largely symbolic gesture the House had already voted to repeal Obamacare but as expected the Senate struck it down. But this is much more than a symbolic gesture–or at least it will be if the House has the courage to stay firm and united in their resolve to defund Obamacare–because perhaps the greatest power that the House holds is the power of the purse strings.
All bills which raise revenues must start in the House, but we can rest assured that the Democrat controlled Senate will reinsert the funding of both Obamacare and Planned Parenthood when they debate this bill next week. Once this happens the amended bill will have to be passed by the House. If the House refuses to pass the bill as amended by the Senate a showdown will occur that will most likely result in the shutdown of the federal government.
The question is: Do the Republicans in the House have the courage of their convictions and will they have the political gravitas to hold their ground and shut down the federal government if it comes to that, or will they flinch and give in?
The defunding of Obamacare and of Planned Parenthood today, coupled with the defunding of Net Neutrality, is great news but it will all go for not if the Republicans end up caving in on these issues. The Democrats are going to attack the Republicans on the grounds that they are uncaring, heartless bastards who are intentionally hurting the poor in an attempt to win votes with the Tea Party, but that is not what this fight is all about. We are engaged in a battle over the future of our country and we are trying to return the federal government to its role as a limited government as outlined in the constitution and if that means that the government needs to be shut down in order to achieve this goal than so be it. Let the chips fall where they may, if the Republicans lose the House because of this action I would find that more acceptable than if they simply roll over to the Democrats.
I would rather they went down swinging for something that they believed in than to see them hang onto power by passing legislation for which they were supposedly opposed.
The House votes to cut off funding for the FCC’s Net Neutrality laws
It is becoming quite obvious that Barack Obama and his regime have a total lack of respect for the law; between Barack Obama ignoring the court ruling which overturned his drilling moratorium in the Gulf to his refusal to halt Obamacare after it has been ruled unconstitutional to the EPA moving to regulate greenhouse gasses even though the legislation did not pass in the Congress to the FCC moving to implement Net Neutrality rules after a court ruled that they did not have the authority to do so, one thing has become more than apparent–Barack Obama feels as if his agenda is so important and righteous that the end justifies the means and as such he is above the law and can do whatever it takes to accomplish his Marxist goals.
Earlier today the House took the first steps in their attempt to stop the FCC from illegally implementing Barack Obama’s Net Neutrality laws when they voted to cut off funding for this operation. By a vote of 244-181 the House successfully added an amendment to a bill that would fund government agencies for the rest of the fiscal year.
The American people can have an honest debate about this issue, and we can elect politicians who represent our views on Net Neutrality. If the American people support this legislation they will send people to the Congress who also support it. The legislation can then make its way through both houses of the Congress and it will end up on the president’s desk for his signature. But the one thing that we cannot have is for this–or any other legislation–to fail in the Congress only to have the president allow an unelected federal agency to implement the failed legislation through dictate because the president feels as if he is above the constitutional process, and that is exactly what is happening on the issue of Net Neutrality.
Today the House took the first step in at least temporarily slowing down the FCC’s attempt to implement the president’s Net Neutrality laws, and while this is good news that is all this was–a first step. This bill will still have to go through the Democrat controlled Senate where it might meet some opposition, but the fact remains that this is the one option that the House has for slowing down Barack Obama’s agenda. They can defund this as well as Obamacare and this will allow the American people to decide who is right–Barack Obama or those that look to rein him in.
Earlier today Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner sat down in front of the Senate Budget Committee in an attempt to defend Barack Obama’s latest budget proposal. But even he ran into a little problem, here is what Barack Obama’s tax cheating Treasury Secretary had to say about Barack Obama’s proposal:
You’re absolutely right that with the president’s plan, even if Congress were to enact it, and even if Congress were to hold to it and reduce those deficits to three percent of GDP over the next five years, we would still be left with a very large interest burden and unsustainable obligations over time
Do I really need to say anything else? Even Timothy Geithner could not defend Barack Obama’s budget.
Wisconsin’s anti-union bill: An “assault” on unions, or a sacrifice for the common good?
No doubt you have heard about what is going on in Wisconsin? The state–like many others in this tough economy–is going broke and needs to make cuts in order to make ends meet. The governor–Scott Walker–has been forced to make some tough decisions in order to bring the problem under control, and one of his solutions is just a little bit controversial (especially to one of the Democrat biggest special interest groups–the unions.)
Governor Scott Walker wants to de-unionize state workers (the notion that state employees are represented by unions for any gain whatsoever is in direct contrast to the founding ideology and the idea that a people can govern themselves and sacrifice a little something to give back to the American people because it is the right thing to do and is not a career opportunity) and that has drawn the ire of the teachers union who have staged a sick in and taken their students to the state house to protest the measure. Barack Obama has even weighed in on this controversy in which the federal government has no legitimate authority interfering in a state’s business when he stated the following:

In these tough economic times we are constantly being told by Barack Obama and his ilk that we must sacrifice for the common good, but yet is seems as if the working class people who are just barely scraping by is the only group of people to which this idea applies, for as we have seen recently, the federal government certainly doesn’t seem to be sacrificing all that much. And as we have seen with the 700+ healthcare waivers that have been granted to the SEIU and other unions as well as multi-million dollar companies that they are not going to be sacrificing anything in order to help other people gain healthcare insurance.
This economy has hit nearly everyone and many of us are no longer able to enjoy the luxuries that we once did–we are sacrificing to put food on the table and heat in the house and yet we are still asked to do more by the Obama regime. Here we have a Democrat special interest group which is being asked to sacrifice for the common good and what is the president’s response? He calls it an attack on collective bargaining. I would ask the average struggling American this; is this an attack, or are they simply being asked to make the same sacrifices that are already being asked of many people all across America?
The average struggling working class American is already sacrificing, and yet our hard earned dollars are being taken from us and are going towards paying for the salaries of government employees who are earning their money on the backs of those that are still employed. And we are still asked to sacrifice more, when is there going to be just a little bit of the same responsible budgeting that we are making in order to get by going to be applied to the government?!
Lara Logan’s “assault”: What this says about the Egyptian protesters and the American media
First off let me say that my thoughts are with Lara Logan and her family; I hope that she is able to make a full recovery (if someone who suffers through such a vicious and depraved attack can ever fully recover both physically and mentally.) Lara Logan’s vicious assault is a new chapter in the story of the Egyptian protests which have dominated the news in the last two weeks and as such I feel that we must examine what this means about both the people protesting in Egypt and the media right here in America.
I have not written about the Egyptian protests until now because I just didn’t feel as if I knew whether or not it was going to be looked upon in the future as the beginning of true democracy in Egypt or the dawning of the day when a full blown anti-Semitic, anti-American, sharia law Muslim theocracy was born, but I finally felt compelled to write about it after I read this post over at Capitol Commentary because the assault on Lara Logan tells us quite a bit about some (many?) of the protesters in Egypt as well as the American media. It adds a new dimension to the story.
The Justice Department refuses to release documents pertaining to Elena Kagan’s role in the healthcare reform debate
The battle over healthcare reform is just beginning to make its way through the court system and there is a battle brewing over which Supreme Court justices should even hear the case once it makes its way to the Supreme Court. Liberals are already pushing Justice Clarence Thomas to recuse himself from the healthcare reform case because of his wife’s former affiliation with an anti-healthcare reform advocacy group and conservatives are concerned about Justice Elena Kagan’s role in the debate over the law while she was an advisor in the Obama Regime.
One conservative group–Media Research Center–has made a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for documents relating to Elena Kagan’s role in the healthcare reform debate while she was a member of the Obama regime, but not only has the White House been non-responsive, the Justice Department is challenging the request in court.
