ObamaCare: SEIU to drop healthcare coverage for children

November 29, 2010

Citing Barack Obama’s healthcare reform law, the SEIU in New York has announced that it will be dropping coverage for the children of its members.

new federal health-care reform legislation requires plans with dependent coverage to expand that coverage up to age 26,” Behroozi wrote in a letter to members Oct. 22. “Our limited resources are already stretched as far as possible, and meeting this new requirement would be financially impossible

The early returns on the healthcare reform law have been disastrous to say the least: Texas doctors announced they would pull out of Medicaid, Boeing announced it would have to cut back on healthcare benefits, the AARP announced it would also be cutting benefits, McDonald’s and 110 other multi-million dollar companies were granted waivers by the Obama regime and will not have to comply with the healthcare reform law, and now this.

The SEIU will be dropping its  Family Health Plus Buy-In Program and because of this decision an estimated 30,000 low income families will lose healthcare benefits for their children. There is some disagreement as to whether the SEIU joined this program voluntary or if the state of New York forced them into this program run by a third party, but either way, this does not take away from the fact that the healthcare reform law was supposed to provide affordable healthcare to more Americans and here we have yet another example of people losing coverage because of the new law. The SEIU is trying to shift the blame from the healthcare law to the state of New York rather than admit that they supported a policy which ultimately cost some of its members healthcare insurance.

This is particularly embarrassing to the president as the SEIU is one of his–and the Democrats in general–biggest supporters and donors and they threw their weight behind this bill. At one point going so far as to threaten to pull support from any Democrats who opposed the legislation. Now they are cutting healthcare benefits to the most vulnerable among us-the children–and they are doing it to the families that can least afford it, and these people have Barack Obama’s healthcare reform law to thank for this.

John Kerry to hold gala event to celebrate himself

November 27, 2010

When one thinks of the typical Washington insider, elitist, out of touch with ordinary Americans politician, one thinks of John Kerry. And a perfect example of his self-aggrandisement is in full display with this story about a gala event that John Kerry is planning to hold for himself in an effort to fatten his re-election war chest that is already the largest in the nation.

John Kerry is going to hold a campaign fundraiser–in which tickets go for as much as $4,800–to celebrate his 25 years in the Senate and 45 years as a “public servant.” This is not an event that is being held by another party in John Kerry’s honor, that would be understandable, but rather John Kerry is holding this event for himself. Is it any wonder that many Americans (outside of the state of Massachusetts) think this man is nothing more than a pompous blowhard?!

Barack Obama might be the most arrogant, self-centered, egotistical politician in the United States today, but John Kerry is a close second.

Homeland Security and ICE have started seizing domain names

November 27, 2010

I first heard about this story of the Department of Homeland Security and the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement office seizing domain names of websites that are in violation of copyright laws over at Bunkerville so a hat tip is in order.

As I wrote above, DHS and ICE have begun shutting down websites that are engaged in copyright infringement against the music industry. This story should be frightening to people all across the country for two reasons, not because of who these departments are going after–there is no defending people who are stealing something that belongs to someone else–but the manner in which they are doing so, and which departments are doing this.

Senate bill would allow states to opt out of ObamaCare…..or does it?

November 26, 2010

Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown has introduced a bill in the Senate which has gained bipartisan support which would allow states to opt out of the federal healthcare reform law.

Scott Brown’s bill would allow states that implement healthcare reform legislation that is either equal to or greater than the federal law to opt out of ObamaCare, thus protecting the states–such as Massachusetts–which already have laws on the books that provide healthcare reform to its residents.

Scott Brown is doing what is right for his state as Massachusetts already mandates that all residents purchase healthcare insurance, but the fact remains that currently only Massachusetts would be eligible to opt out of ObamaCare under the bill that he has introduced because only Massachusetts currently has a law on the books that is equal to the ObamaCare mandates. New Hampshire man jailed for defending his property

November 26, 2010

Last week New Hampshire resident Ward Bird reported to the New Hampshire State Prison after the state Supreme Court upheld his conviction for criminal threatening. Because of the state mandatory sentencing guidelines, Ward Bird was sentenced to serve at least three years in state prison.

In 2006 a woman showed up on his property–which was clearly marked with “no trespassing” signs–looking for directions to property that she was thinking about buying. She claimed that Ward Bird came out of the house waving his .45-caliber handgun at her and shouted profanities at her. But that is not what happened according to his wife, who said this: Read more…

Happy Thanksgiving

November 25, 2010

I hope that everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving day surrounded by friends and families. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I decided to include the following video that I found over at the Reaganite Republican:

But while you are enjoying your day I would ask all of you out there to take a brief moment to think about our heroes who will not be with their families this year because they are in lands far away fighting to ensure that we remain safe with our families on this Thanksgiving:

Lame duck Senate may attach DREAM Act to a Haiti orphan bill

November 24, 2010

While I was reading this article about how the Senate is preparing to have a shortened recess to provide themselves with more time in order to pass controversial bills that will have no chance of passage with the new Congress in January, I read with interest and concern about the Senate’s latest attempt to pass the DREAM Act.

But before I get to the main point of this post, I wanted to touch on the fact that the Democrats who are still in power are going to attempt to pass Barack Obama’s agenda even after the American people have rejected it. While it is not surprising that the Congress is going to neglect the will of the people in order to pass these controversial bills, because we saw this disregard for the will of the American people when they forced healthcare reform on an unwilling public, it is nonetheless aggravating that they are still unwilling to listen to the people who spoke so vociferously just a few short weeks ago.

Ed Rendell claims that Pennsylvania voters acted illogically during the midterm elections

November 23, 2010

As Democrats try to find a reason why they suffered huge losses in this month’s midterm elections they refuse to look inward. Democrats refuse to take the blame for their losses, instead blaming their inability to properly communicate to the American people how wonderfully they performed in the first two years of the Obama regime as the reason for their failures at the polls.

Along with this perceived communication gap that the Democrats claim is their biggest problem with the voters, there is another reason why they claim Democrats lost the midterm election–the voters are too damned stupid and frightened to vote the right way during these tough economic times. They believe that the voters are just plain scared stupid.

Barack Obama himself claimed that Americans were “hard-wired not to always think clearly when we’re scared.” Basically he said that Americans were so scared about the economy that we were not thinking straight when we went to the polls and rejected his agenda. One would think that after his agenda caused such a major rebuke at the polls that the president would look inward and evaluate himself to determine what he could do better, but that was not the case. Instead he holds stubbornly onto the very agenda that Americans rejected while claiming that we are basically too stupid to see how brilliant he is.

But Barack Obama was not alone in his condemnation of the American people; John Kerry had this to say about the American voters: “It’s absurd. We’ve lost our minds, we’re in a period of know-nothingism in the country, where truth and science and facts don’t weigh in.”  We headed to the polls earlier this month and we rejected Barack Obama and the Democrats and everything they stand for and according to John Kerry it is because we are a bunch of “know nothings” who don’t understand the truth about what Democrats stand for. According to John Kerry, the fact that the Democrats suffered such glorious defeats in the election is due to the fact that we have lost our minds.

The arrogance of these two politicians to simultaneously deflect the blame for their failures and belittle the very people they are supposed to represent is astounding but it didn’t stop with the politicians. Katie Couric called the voters the “unwashed masses,” while Bill Maher claimed we were “hillbillies” who needed to be pulled into the 20th century by the Democrats.

Enter the governor of Pennsylvania–Ed Rendell–and his analysis of why Democrats lost the midterm election.

Senate Republicans are preparing to fight against the DREAM Act in the lame duck Congress

November 22, 2010

Barack Obama has called for the Congress to pass the DREAM Act during the lame duck session–calling it a down payment on comprehensive immigration reform–and Harry Reid has promised the lame duck senate will hold a vote on this controversial issue. Republicans are now gearing up to fight this insidious legislation and Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions has been disseminating a report that highlights exactly how this bill would affect illegal immigration.

The DREAM Act is being billed by the liberals in the Congress as a means to grant children who were brought here illegally by their parents a pathway to citizenship. Proponents of this legislation claim that we cannot hold  crimes perpetrated by parents in bringing their children here illegally against these children. After all, these children had no say in the matter when they were brought to the United States, therefore it is not their fault they are here illegally in the first place.

But this bill goes beyond naturalizing the children who were brought here illegally by their parents. This bill would also make these children eligible for in state tuition rates even though there are residing in these states illegally, and would make them eligible for federal monies. It may not be the fault of the children that they are here illegally, but that doesn’t mean they should gain privileges that are unavailable to many AMERICAN citizens and their children.

“In addition to immediately putting an estimated 2.1 million illegal immigrants (including certain criminal aliens) on a path to citizenship, the DREAM Act would give them access to in-state tuition rates at public universities, federal student loans and federal work-study programs”

But that is not all, it gets worse.

JFK assassinated 47 years ago today

November 22, 2010

On December 22nd 1963 a disgruntled and deranged communist determined to one day be famous–Lee Harvey Oswald–ascended the stairs of the  Texas School Book Depository and dubiously etched his name into the history books. As President Kennedy’s motorcade turned up Elm Street and headed into Dealy Plaza in Dallas Texas, Oswald fired a shot from the book depository,  killing the president wounding John Connally.

As Lee Harvey Oswald tried to make his escape–probably to Mexico and then on to Cuba–he was confronted by Officer J.D. Tippet whom he also murdered before hiding in a movie theater where he was eventually captured.

Seven months earlier Lee Harvey Oswald failed in an attempt to assassinate General Edwin Walker, believing he was successful he confessed to his wife that he had killed the general and justified it to her by comparing Walker to Hitler. The attempt proved unsuccessful because the shot he fired was deflected by the window paine he fired the shot through. Marina Oswald never reported her husband to the authorities–if she had the assassination of JFK would never have happened.

On November 24th, 1963 Oswald was felled by a bullet fired by Jack Ruby, fueling speculation that there was actually a government conspiracy to kill the president. We will never know the full details of that day and what led Lee Harvey Oswald to commit this heinous crime because of Jack Ruby.

November 22nd, 1963 was one of the darkest days in American history, those that did not live through that day can never fully understand what America was going through during this day. But there must have been anger, confusion, heartbreak, disbelief, and grief the likes of which had never been felt before on a national level.
