Judging by the type of people that President Obama has hung around his whole life it should come as no surprise that President Obama would have some radicals in his cabinet. John Holdren, Obama’s “Science Czar”, is one such radical.
In the late ’70’s John Holdren touted forced abortions and sterilizations as well as total control of all natural resources; all to protect the planet. None of this came up in his confirmation hearing.
The Obama administration has delayed releasing two reports; one is an economic report, and the other is a report on reduced spending.
It is being speculated that the reason for the delay in the CONGRESSIONALLY MANDATED economic report is because of the trouble the president is having getting his socialized healthcare bill through congress. This certainly seems like the reason to me. People are growing more concerned about the economy everyday and they are beginning to question Obama’s plan to heap another one trillion dollars onto the national debt to nationalize the healthcare system.
The Obama administration is using the “he did it too” defense to claim that this is nothing unusual by noting that both Presidents Bush and Clinton did the same thing also. Talk about a childish defense. There is more to it than this just being a delay due to the transition of administrations.
Chuck Schumer Wants to Filibuster Thune Gun Amendment– Harry Reid Wants to Hold a Vote
Rep. John Thune of South Dakota has introduced a bill that would make it easier for law abiding, licensed, gun owning Americans to carry their weapons across state lines and into states that have similar gun laws to the state that they live in.
Apparently Chuck Schumer does not believe in the second amendment as he has called the bill a “bridge to far” and is organizing a Democrat filibuster against this bill, but in an interesting little twist Harry Reid has said he wants the amendment to come to the floor to be voted on. Apparently there are other Democrats siding with Harry Reid also.
This amendment puts two top Democrats at odds on this issue and it is going to be interesting to see who wins this battle. Will Schumer win and be able to get enough Democrats to filibuster this bill or will Harry Reid win and bring this bill to a vote?
But a filibuster of this bill isn’t even the worst part about Schumer’s plan, he along with Dick Durbin, also wants to craft a different bill that goes entirely in the opposite direction.
Durbin, Schumer and New Jersey Democrat Frank Lautenberg to craft an alternative amendment that would put the GOP on the defensive — one that would impose tough new federal restrictions on interstate transport or even insert a provision closing the so-called gun-show loophole.
It is hard to believe but I actually have to side with Harry Reid on an issue. This is something worth following over the next two days, the bill should come up for a vote on Wednesday. If Chuck Schumer and Dick Durbin are able to filibuster this bill we must take note of every single politician who stopped this legislation. If this bill comes to the floor and is voted down we must do the same.
We have won some recent second amendment issues recently and let us hope that this one is next.
When President Obama announced that he was signing the executive order to close GITMO even though he had no plan on what to do with the prisoners held there I predicted that GITMO would never be closed by this president.
Today that prediction has come a little closer to reality. President Obama has delayed the report on GITMO for six months. That means the GTIMO report will not be released until January, the very month that the president claimed he would be closing GITMO.
This report is actually a review of the terrorists that are being held at GITMO and it is only halfway completed. If the president hadn’t have been in such a hurry to score a symbolic victory with his announcement on the closing of GITMO he would have actually waited until this report was ready before he made a decision on GITMO. But he had to appease the far left and this was the easiest way to do it. Or at least he thought so.
President Obama’s announcement on the closing of GITMO without doing the research and without any knowledge of the people that are being held there or what to do with them if the prison is closed is unbelievably irresponsible. It was a rash and not very well thought out.
President Obama hoped that he could make the announcement and then come up with a plan to follow it through but that seems to have been tougher than he thought.
So as of right now it looks as though the president has broken his campaign promise and also will have to backtrack one of the first executive orders he gave. Most likely GITMO will not be closing in January, this cannot sit well with the far left as Obama has already kept in place all of President Bush’s wartime policies and now he will probably end up keeping GITMO open.
That is what happens when you try to score symbolic victories without doing your homework.
When Massachusetts instituted mandatory healthcare coverage for all residents it was hailed as a model that could be used on a national level. During the primary Mitt Romney boasted that he was the only candidate who actually was able to implement a healthcare plan that insured all of his residents. He claimed that he would be able to take this plan to the national level.
If the Massachusetts model can be used to show us how a national healthcare plan can be implemented than it certainly can be used as a model to show why a national healthcare plan should not be implemented.
Massachusetts’ healthcare plan was implemented during good economic times but now that the country is in a recession the Massachusetts healthcare plan has become insolvent. The state has no money to pay for the program any longer so cuts are going to have to be made.
Massachusetts lawmakers are in the process of cutting healthcare to immigrants.
I feel that it is more than evident that President Obama has absolutely no idea what he is doing when it comes to the economy and ending the recession. From his stimulus plan, to his mortgage bailout plan, to his plan to stall foreclosures, his policies have been abject failures. But don’t just take my word for it, Joe Biden admitted that the administration was guessing on the economy and he even went so far as to say that the administration guessed wrong. That is an indictment on President Obama’s policies from someone that is inside the administration. That is an admission that the administration is clueless. Thank you Joe Biden.
His economic plans have deepened the recession but he clings to abstract numbers like “jobs saved” to prove that his failed plans have worked. It is easy for him to claim that he has saved jobs and that the economy would be worse if he did not save these jobs when there is nobody out there who can either prove or disprove his jobs saved claim. He can simply make up any number that he wants and nobody can dispute it.
But along comes one of President Obama’s top economic advisers, Larry Summers, with proof that President Obama’s plans are working.

Another Failed Obama Policy– Obama’s Foreclosure Plan
Unless you are Joe Biden or the president himself, or a card carrying Kool-aide drinking Obamabot, you know that Obama’s trillion dollar stimulus bill is a failure. The debate is over and it is settled science, to quote Al Gore on another subject. The stimulus bill was a trillion dollar fraud.
But another President Obama initiative, while slightly less costly at “only” $50 billion, has also failed. That is what happens when you have a regime that is “guessing” on the economy. Joe Biden’s term, not mine.
In an effort to protect its members from having to vote on tough legislation the Democrat led House of Representatives is not allowing debate on certain issues; such as gay marriage and gun control by restricting amendments to spending bills.
Today I received an email that I just had to share with everyone. Anyone who regularly reads this blog knows what a huge fan I am of the military and those who serve our country. This email touched me and there was no way that I could not post it here.
In a time where people like Michael Jackson are celebrated in death with 24 hour news coverage it is a crying shame that real American heroes like “Shifty” Powers die in anonymity without a mention in the news media.
This email asked everyone to honor “Shifty” by forwarding the email to everyone that you know, which I will do, but I wanted to take it a step farther and so I have included the email here in full.

We’re hearing a lot today about big splashy memorial services. I want a nationwide memorial service for Darrell “Shifty” Powers.
Shifty volunteered for the airborne in WWII and served with Easy Company of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, part of the 101st Airborne Infantry. If you’ve seen Band of Brothers on HBO or the History Channel, you know Shifty. His character appears in all 10 episodes, and Shifty himself is interviewed in several of them.
I met Shifty in the Philadelphia airport several years ago. I didn’t know who he was at the time. I just saw an elderly gentleman having trouble reading his ticket. I offered to help, assured him that he was at the right gate, and noticed the “Screaming Eagle,” the symbol of the 101st Airborne, on his hat.
Making conversation, I asked him if he’d been in the 101st Airborne or if his son was serving. He said quietly that he had been in the 101st. I thanked him for his service, then asked him when he served, and how many jumps he made.
Quietly and humbly, he said “Well, I guess I signed up in 1941 or so, and was in until sometime in 1945 .. . . ” at which point my heart skipped.
At that point, again, very humbly, he said “I made the 5 training jumps at Toccoa, and then jumped into Normandy . . . . do you know where Normandy is?” At this point my heart stopped.
I told him “yes, I know exactly where Normandy is, and I know what D-Day was.” At that point he said “I also made a second jump into Holland, into Arnhem.” I was standing with a genuine war hero . . . .
and then I realized that it was June, just after the anniversary of D-Day..
I asked Shifty if he was on his way back from France, and he said “Yes. And it’s real sad because, these days, so few of the guys are left, and those that are, lots of them can’t make the trip.” My heart was in my throat and I didn’t know what to say.
I helped Shifty get onto the plane and then realized he was back in Coach while I was in First Class. I sent the flight attendant back to get him and said that I wanted to switch seats. When Shifty came forward, I got up out of the seat and told him I wanted him to have it, that I’d take his in coach.
He said “No, son, you enjoy that seat. Just knowing that there are still some who remember what we did and who still care is enough to make an old man very happy.” His eyes were filling up as he said it. And mine are brimming up now as I write this.
Shifty died on June 17 after fighting cancer.
There was no parade.
No big event in Staples Center.
No wall to wall back to back 24×7 news coverage.
No weeping fans on television.
And that’s not right.
Let’s give Shifty his own Memorial Service, online, in our own quiet
way. Please forward this email to everyone you know. Especially to the
veterans.

Democrats Don’t Have the Votes on Healthcare Reform
As of right now it does not look like the Democrats have the votes that they need to release the healthcare reform bill from committee. It also appears as if the bill is losing support as the process continues.
Last time I checked, it takes seven Democrats to stop a bill in the Energy and Commerce Committee,” Ross told reporters after a House vote. “We had seven against it last Friday; we have 10 today.”
It would appear that the Blue Dog Democrats and conservative Republicans are holding true so far, although the Blue Dogs are looking at possible amendments that would make the bill more palatable to them.
The biggest problem with the bill according to the Blue Dogs is that it doesn’t do anything to stop rising healthcare costs, and that is what the whole publicly stated goal of the bill was supposed to be. All that this bill does is defer the cost of healthcare to the government from the private sector, and how does the government get its money? Taxes.
