House Minority Leader John Boehner has called Nancy Pelosi’s bluff and asked for the speaker to either apologize to the CIA for saying that the organization lied to her or to offer proof of the transgression.
Lying to Congress is a crime. Purposely misleading Congress is a crime. And if the speaker is accusing the intelligence community of lying to her or purposefully misleading her, then she ought to present that evidence, turn it over to the Justice Department, have them prosecute it
Lying to congress is a crime and if the CIA did in fact lie to Nancy Pelosi than it is time to bring them up on charges. But does Nancy Pelosi have any proof or was she the one who was in fact lying when she made the accusations?
Nancy Pelosi has since tried to backtrack from the comments she made about the CIA but the fact is that she said that the CIA lied to her. She owes them an apology for starters. An apology does not go far enough in my opinion.
If Nancy Pelosi made up the claim that the CIA lied to her in order to cover her own ass, and it seems likely that she did or she wouldn’t have backtracked from that statement, than a simple apology is just the beginning. Nancy Pelosi needs to resign.
Season Finale of 24; What a Joke!
I claimed after last season that 24 was so bad and had jumped the shark that I was not going to watch it this year. I did.
I claimed after Janeane Garofalo’s ignorant and bigoted comments about the Tea Parties that I was going to stop watching it. I didn’t.
Tonight was the season finale and as if it wasn’t bad enough that all season long we had to put up with the cast members running their global warming commercials we learned a few things that make this show a complete joke.

Jack realizes that saving American lives aren’t worth harsh interrogations
Jack seeks a Muslim Imam to seek peace with his upcoming death
Stem cell research is the only chance that he has for survival
Next season can count on one less viewer, I’m out. What a joke!
Joe Biden
Joe Biden has a knack for putting his foot in his mouth. This is no secret, it is just Joe being Joe. Most of the time Joe Biden’s gaffes are harmless and just plain funny because they are so stupid. It is funny when he says things like FDR went on television even though there was no television when FDR was president; it is funny when Joe Biden says that jobs is a three letter word; it is funny when Joe Biden tells a man in a wheelchair to stand up; it is funny when he can’t remember the website number for the public to follow the stimulus money; it is funny that after the president told the American people not to panic about the swine flu Joe Biden said that he would advise his family not to go anywhere; and it is funny when Joe Biden admits that Hillary Clinton is more qualified to be vice president than he is.
It is a little less funny when Joe Biden warns the American people that if we elect his running mate president that we will be attacked. But his latest gaffe is not funny in the least.
During the Gridiron Club dinner Joe Biden disclosed the highly classified top secret location of the bunker that was built to house the vice president in time of crisis. The same bunker that it is believed that Dick Cheney was hidden in after September 11th.
This latest gaffe is not only not funny it is downright irresponsible and it goes beyond stupid. What the hell was this man thinking? Strike that last question– he wasn’t thinking, but that is nothing new for Joe Biden.
Give him a week and he will be disclosing the location of the president’s top secret bunker, the enemy won’t even have to waterboard him to get the location, he will willingly give it up. And while he is at it he will probably give up the nuclear codes.
It is just Joe being Joe.
Nancy Pelosi Backpedals on CIA Criticism; Blames Bush for Misleading Her on Waterboarding

When Nancy Pelosi spoke last she threw the CIA under the bus and basically said that the CIA was lying and that she was misled by the CIA. Her words were pretty clear, it was obvious what she meant.
Now Nancy Pelosi has changed her story again. I have lost count on how many stories that she has had on the issue of waterboarding and what she knew and for how long she has known it. She has had at least four stories, I think it is more likely five. Nancy Pelosi is now claiming that it wasn’t the CIA who misled her, it was the Bush administration.
My criticism of the manner in which the Bush Administration did not appropriately inform Congress is separate from my respect for those in the intelligence community who work to keep our country safe
She is backpedalling on her comments from just one day ago. She has returned to the old reliable blame Bush argument that the Democrats are so fond of. She has infuriated the people at the CIA and now she is trying to spin this, but she has been in spin mode on this issue for so long that she is getting dizzy and she has no idea where she started and she certainly has no idea where she is going to end up.
Every time that Nancy Pelosi opens her mouth there is a new story coming out. I would feel sorry for her if she hadn’t spent the last four years bashing the people who have kept America safe.
The more that Nancy Pelosi talks and the more that she tries to spin this issue the worse that it gets for her. She has turned into an embarrassment. Somebody in the Democrat party needs to take her aside and tell her to stop talking.
It is time for her to either step down or shut up. I would prefer that she did both.
The president is urging the Bank of America to make changes in its board of directors. The problem with this is that Bank of America did not get any federal bailout money. The government has no business telling this company how to run its business.
I do not believe that any company should be given taxpayer dollars, period. I believe that we should let the free market dictate which companies fail and which ones survive. The government has no business interfering in a private business. But considering that these companies are taking taxpayer dollars and there is nothing that we can do about it, I hold the position that if a company receives corporate welfare, otherwise known as bailout money, than the government should be allowed to place some conditions on the companies that receive the money. If you lie down with the dog you are bound to get fleas.
That being said, I am still leery of the government stepping in and telling companies how they should be run even if they did receive bailout money. I am very leery of a government that can hire and fire employees. And has very recently done exactly that. We are beginning to wade into very dangerous waters here.
The reason I am leery is because it will not end with companies that receive taxpayer dollars and this is a perfect example. The government, and the president in particular, is feeling emboldened with new power. Power that the government was never supposed to have. And now the president feels that he can dictate to companies who did not receive taxpayer dollars how the companies should be run as well has who should be fired.
This president is grabbing more and more power over private businesses, he is going from Commander in Chief to CEO in Chief at an alarming rate. This, not the crisis, is an unprecedented power grab. This president has brought the Chicago style thug politics to a national level.
The president has announced that he will continue the Bush administrations policy of trying GITMO detainees in military tribunals. This is a major reversal flip-flop from his campaign promise to end the tribunals and provide the GITMO detainees with rights under the United States constitution and try them in courts of law.
It seems as though the longer that this president is in office, the more he realizes that the Bush administration was conducting the war on terror overseas contingency operation properly. Campaign rhetoric has been replaced with reality and the reality is that the president is continuing many of the Bush administration’s policies in regards to the war and the holding of prisoners.
This is not sitting well with the far left who actually believed that this president would wave a magic wand and end the war.

President Obama is reinstating the same deeply-flawed military commissions that in June 2008 he called an ‘enormous failure.’ In one swift move, Obama both backtracks on a major campaign promise to change the way the United States fights terrorism and undermines the nation’s core respect for the rule of law by sacrificing due process for political expediency. Whatever revisions the Obama administration has made to the commissions do not change the fact that the commissions do not provide an adequate standard of justice for the detainees nor the victims of terrorism — they merely mock the U.S. Constitution, international laws and undermine fundamental human rights standards.
What happened to President Obama’s confidence in the U.S. justice system’s ability to try detainees? He himself said that ‘we need not throw away 200 years of American jurisprudence while we fight terrorism.
U.S. federal courts are a perfectly sound system to try any and all detainees. They have brought other terror suspects to justice, and there is no reason why these courts cannot continue to do the same.
Some harsh words there. The fact is that enemy combatants do not have the right to a trial by jury that the constitution grants the citizens of the United States. Military tribunals are the way that the detainees should be tried. Obviously someone in the administration has convinced the president that the Bush administration was correct.
This probably has allot to do with the fact that this president has no idea what the hell to do with the GITMO detainees. He signed an executive order to close GITMO without considering what he was going to do with the terrorists being held there. Just two days ago he announced that he would hold the GITMO detainees indefinitely without a trial, another Bush policy that he campaigned against, and now I guess we know why.
It appears as if the real world has interfered with the president’s Utopian, naive world view. Now he needs to convince the far left that he is doing the right thing by continuing the Bush administration’s policies that he was so hard on before he was elected.
When the state of New Hampshire decided to become a full fledged nanny state by banning private restaurants and bars from permitting smoking in their establishments they made an exception for “cigar bars.” New Hampshire cigar stores are still permitted to allow smoking in the stores.
The prevailing thought was that the “cigar bars” would be the next target by the over-reaching usurpers in Concord but the opposite happened yesterday when the state senate actually voted to allow “cigar bars” to serve alcohol.
If the governor signs this bill into law, a grown adult (government rarely treats people like adults any more) would be able to make a decision on their own to go have a cigar and a beer in a “cigar bar” while watching a baseball game with other like minded individuals. Individual choice and responsibility is a wonderful thing and it is good to see that at least on this one small issue a person will be allowed to make a choice for themselves.
There are a few restrictions on “cigar bars” if they want to sell alcohol. Most of these restrictions are to ensure that regular bars don’t re-brand themselves as cigar bars in an effort to circumvent the smoking ban. And cigarette smoking in the establishments are still banned. Evidently this restriction was put in the bill to protect regular bars whose patrons may decide to go to a “cigar bar” where they could then enjoy what they are no longer permitted to currently in this state.
Another rule that will be put in place is a requirement to tell anyone who wishes to work at a “cigar bar” that they will be exposed to second hand smoke and that is could be bad for your health. You read that right, a person applying for a job where smoking is allowed must be told up front that they will be exposed to smoke. There is that nanny state mentality again. Evidently the lawmakers don’t think that potential employees are smart enough to figure that little gem out for themselves.
Needless to say, there are people upset with this bill. Mainly the bars and restaurants that were stripped of the right to run their businesses the way that they see fit and who were forced to ban smoking in their establishments. Proponents also see this as a weakening of the smoking ban. I hope that they are right. I hope that the ban gets lifted someday. Call me old fashioned but I still believe that a private business has the right to decide what can and cannot be done inside their four walls as long as the activity is legal.
75% of New Hampshire bars and restaurants voluntarily banned smoking before the mandatory smoking ban went into effect. That was their choice. Now that choice was taken from them. People had the choice to frequent whatever establishment they wanted to; smoking or non-smoking. That choice was taken away from them. This is just one small victory for personal choice and responsibility. But it is a beginning.
Obama Admits We Are Mortgaging Our Children’s Future
I am a little bit confused, I must have entered the Bizarro World. Just look at the following quote from the president:
We can’t keep on just borrowing from China,” Obama said at a town-hall meeting in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, outside Albuquerque. “We have to pay interest on that debt, and that means we are mortgaging our children’s future with more and more debt
I have heard that somewhere before. It is the exact criticism that has been leveled at this president for his irresponsible budget. Suddenly he is concerned with mortgaging our children’s future? Is he forgetting that it is his budget and the bailouts that are the problem. I know, I know, he inherited this problem, he didn’t create it. Blah, blah,blah.
At least he is finally admitting what his critics have been saying is true. Kind of. While he has admitted that we are mortgaging our children’s future he is not blaming his budget for the debt that we have just borrowed– he is blaming health care costs and credit card companies. Which of course in his eyes means that we are going to have to spend even more money so that the government can “fix” these problems by taking them over. Figure that one out.
I have to give him credit, he has managed to take one of his biggest criticisms and spin it in a way to defer all blame for the problem that he exacerbated. Much like with the war in Afghanistan, he may not have created the problems that we now face but with the policies he has implemented he now owns the problems. For better or worse.
Nancy Pelosi is at it again. She has changed her story once again on what she knew and when she knew about waterboarding. Now she has fallen back on the old “its Bush’s fault” excuse.
She is now claiming that she was mislead by the CIA and the Bush administration. This is what, the third or fourth different story that she has had on this issue. She has been twisting and turning on this issue ever since the president released the CIA harsh interrogation memos and it was learned that she knew about the harsh interrogations being used all along and did nothing to stop them because she agreed with them. SO she has fallen back on the old reliable and convenient excuse of blaming Bush. She is trying to defect blame by saying that the true issue is the liars at the CIA.
At least now she is finally admitting that she did know about the use of waterboarding, a fact that up until now she had denied. It is time to open up the “truth commission” that the Democrats have been calling for. It is time for Nancy Pelosi to make her statement under oath, it will be interesting to see which story she decides to stay with if the threat of perjuring herself is on the table.
Until and if the “truth commission” investigates and clears her, Nancy Pelosi needs to step down as the speaker of the house. We can’t have somebody with so many questions third in line for the presidency.

Today the governor of New Hampshire, John Lynch, finally made his much anticipated decision on the gay marriage bill that is about to make it to his desk in the next few days. He will veto the bill as it is currently written but he has provided language to the senate that if, or I should say when, added will change his vote.
If the Legislature passes this language, I will sign the same-sex marriage bill into law. If the Legislature doesn’t pass these provisions, I will veto itThe governor doesn’t believe that the language that prevents
The language in question is the provision that makes it okay for religious institutions to refuse to perform gay marriages. He wants that language strengthened to further ensure that religious institutions are protected. It is all but a done deal now as the senate will surely make these language changes and send the revised bill to his desk.
With today’s statement we have learned three things about Governor Lynch. First, he is a liar; second, he is a liberal; third, he is not a leader.
Let me elaborate.
First; the governor has claimed for five years that he opposed gay marriage. He claimed all along that he believed a marriage was between one man and one woman. During debates while campaigning when the question came up he reaffirmed his opposition to gay marriage.
Last week when the senate killed the gay marriage bill he reiterated his belief that marriage was between one man and one woman. He claimed that New Hampshire’s civil union law gave same sex couples the same exact rights as traditional marriage. He went so far as to say that any changes in gay marriage in New Hampshire would have to come from the federal level.
As I said, he made all of these claims after the senate killed the gay marriage legislation, but the senate pulled a fast one. Two days after the senate killed the bill they brought it back up for reconsideration and it passed. The last person who wanted to see this was the governor because it put the decision back into his hands.
Once the bill passed he began to hedge his bets immediately by saying that he still personally believed that a marriage was between one woman and one man, but that he would do what he thought was right for the state. This was all the confirmation needed to see where he would come down on this issue.
Suddenly five years of campaign promises on this issue were out the door and he has shown us that he is nothing but a liar. People elected him because of his stance on the issues, and the stance he sold the people of New Hampshire on gay marriage was that he opposed it. He lied, otherwise he would have just vetoed the bill and he would still be able to claim that he was just fulfilling a campaign promise. He could say that the voters knew this was his stance on the issue. He didn’t do that, he hid his true stance on the issue but now we know where he stands.
Second; he is a liberal. Some people get upset when you call politicians liberal and it sounds like you are using the term as an insult. I am not using it as an insult, I am stating a fact. And the fact is that Governor Lynch himself has been hiding from the fact that he is a liberal. He is the one who has hidden from this moniker. He can hide no more.
Governor Lynch has always claimed that he is a moderate but he can no longer make that claim. He has been defending himself from attacks on the right which has been trying to paint him as a closet tax and spend liberal. (Admittedly myself included.) Today he has outed himself (pun fully intended.) as the liberal that many of us thought that he was. He can no longer play the moderate card.
Third; he is no leader, he is a follower. The question that has been asked since this legislation passed was whether the governor would abide by the will of the voters who knew his stated position on gay marriage or would he succumb to the pressure of the party. Today he answered that question.
The governor likes to say that he is a leader. During campaign debates he claimed that he has shown great leadership by working together in a bipartisan manner to accomplish much during his time as governor. But when push came to shove instead of looking to his party and leading them he fell in line and followed them. He had the chance to stand up to his party and say “I am opposed to gay marriage”, that is what he claimed during the elections, he should have lead his party on this issue as well. But he couldn’t control them and now we have learned he will follow them further and further to the left as they continue in the future.
Governor Lynch was re-elected twice with about 70-75% of the vote, all of these people knew his position on gay marriage, at least the position that he stated. A recent poll showed his approval rating at 54%, while good that is way down from his usual approval rating of around 65%, this is not going to help him.
He is now going to lose a good portion of the conservatives who have been fooled by him and some of the moderates. It is one thing for him to irresponsibly run up the state’s debt and wiggle out of blame by blaming President Bush. It is one thing to raise multiple taxes to pay for all of his out of control spending. But it is another thing altogether to lie to the voters and that is what Governor Lynch has been doing on the issue of gay marriage for the last five years.
When he signs the gay marriage bill onto law he should also be signing his ticket out of here. The last thing New Hampshire needs is a standard run of the mill lying politician as governor.
