President Obama Claims He Didn’t Know Air Force One Was Going To Fly Over Ground Zero
Today the president claimed that he did not know that Air Force One was going to fly at low altitude past the Statue of Liberty and over Ground Zero. He claimed that he found out when we found out, and he has called for an internal investigation into this “mistake”.
I find it hard to believe that a sitting president can lose track of where one of his two planes is scheduled to fly. I find it hard to believe that the president was left in the dark and was not consulted about flying Air Force One over Ground Zero. It is absolutely inconceivable that something like this would be planned without his knowledge.
This decision shows an extreme lack of judgement, caring, and just plain arrogance by the administration which must feel that it can do whatever it wants. I have trouble believing that he is not lying about his involvement in this horrific, and stupid, idea.
But I am a fair man; I am a just man and so I will take the president’s word when he says that he didn’t know what was going on around him within his administration. I will take his word when he says that he was clueless about this fiasco. I will take him at his word that his subordinates were planning this behind his back and that they didn’t find a need to inform him.
So now I ask you which is worse. Did the president know about Air Force One and is he lying about his involvement, or was he clueless about what was going on in his administration right under his nose?
I think the latter would be more egregious than the former.
And just one more question, can you imagine the outrage and condemnation if Bush had lost one of his planes while he was in office?
Today Arlen Specter changed parties from Republican to Democrat, claiming that he feels more like a Democrat. Finally admitting to himself what Republicans have known for awhile; he isn’t a Republican. This technically gives the Democrats their much wanted 60 vote majority in the senate– filibuster proof. I said technically, but in reality nothing changes in the Senate in the short term.
With Arlen Specter, Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, and John McCain (on certain issues) the president has had his sixty vote majority all along. This just makes it official. It is kind of a moral victory.
The only hope to stop the president from implementing all of his radical far left agenda items still lies in the same hands that is has since he was elected– with the Blue Dog Democrats. The House of Representatives is our one hope and it has been all along. We need to hope that the conservatives in the house along with the Blue Dog Democrats can hold firm to their positions and not give in. Every single Republican can oppose a bill in the house and it can still pass, that is why it is the Blue Dog Democrats who now hold the key to stopping cap and trade, health-care reform, and amnesty for illegal aliens; plus whatever other far left agenda items the president may spring on us. It will be interesting, and vital, that the Blue Dogs do not succumb to party pressure.
But where this switch could have an effect is in the future; and it is the future for which Arlen Specter changed parties– the 2010 election. Because Arlen Specter is was a RINO he was in trouble with the voters in his state. He was going to be facing a tough primary bid and probably would have lost in the primary. This is why he switched parties.
This clears the way for him in the 2010 election. Or does it? I am not sure. Will he face a Democrat opponent in the primary and if so will Democrat voters support him over a lifetime Democrat? I think in the end name recognition will carry the day.
In the 2004 election after narrowly escaping a primary opponent he won re-election easily with support of Independents and some Democrats. I would guess that the Democrats would hold true in a general election and he may lose some Independents but not enough, clearing the way for his re-election.
With the Republicans desperately needing to pick up seats in both the house and Senate Arlen Specter’s seat was one they were hoping to pick up (considering he was not really a Republican in the first place). This move could have put this seat out of play.
Of course it is way too early to tell but for now at least it is status quo in the Senate.
Air Force One Photo Op Sends Panic Through New York City
The administration decided that they needed a new publicity photo of Air Force One so they decided to fly it over Ground Zero at low altitude and buzz the Statue of Liberty trailed by fighter jets. They didn’t think the sight of low flying planes near Ground Zero would bring back memories of September 11th and/or panic that maybe this was another attack so they didn’t bother to notify anybody of the scheduled fly over. Or maybe they just didn’t think, period.
Buildings were evacuated and panic spread through the city as many New Yorkers thought that they we under attack because this administration was too shortsighted to at least warn the city of the planned activities.
Here is what Mayor Bloomberg had to say:
“The good news is it was nothing more than an inconsiderate, badly conceived and insensitive photo op with the taxpayers’ money,” Bloomberg said, echoing the comments of Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer and other New York officials.
Today they apologized for such a stupid, moronic, and insensitive idea. That’s nice, but the fact remains that they are still all of the above. How the hell could they schedule something like this and not think that they should warn the city of New York, it makes no sense. The administration showed a real lack of judgement in this ill advised photo op.
And this is supposed to be the smartest man to ever occupy the White House?
Last week the holy father of global warming, Al Gore, spoke before congress and prophesied about how we are all about to die in a plague of pestilence, fire, and locusts. Floods would retake the earth and drown us all because we are heating the planet with basically just our very existence.
When the holy father of global warming speaks we must all listen, and we must all agree. There is no room for debate, just ask this man who flew in from England because he was supposed to join the holy father on the global warming alter in front of congress but was not allowed to be seated.
Lord Christopher Monckton, a global warming skeptic, was invited to debate Reverend Al Gore at the house committee hearing on global warming but when he arrived in Washington he was told that he was not welcome. No soup for you!
Monckton was understandably not happy:
The House Democrats don’t want Gore humiliated, so they slammed the door of the Capitol in my face,” Monckton told Climate Depot in an exclusive interview. “They are cowards.
Monckton claims that the Democrats refused to let him make his scheduled appointment to debate Al Gore and provide some balance to the hearings.
The Democrats have a lot to learn about the right of free speech under the US Constitution. Congress Henry Waxman’s (D-CA) refusal to expose Al Gore’s sci-fi comedy-horror testimony to proper, independent scrutiny by the House minority reeks of naked fear,” Monckton said from the airport Thursday evening.
“Waxman knows there has been no ‘global warming’ for at least a decade. Waxman knows there has been seven and a half years’ global cooling. Waxman knows that, in the words of the UK High Court judge who condemned Gore’s mawkish movie as materially, seriously, serially inaccurate, ‘the Armageddon scenario that he depicts is not based on any scientific view,’
The bottom line here is that the template has already been drawn up and skeptics such as Monckton do not fit that template so they must be silenced. There is no debate on this issue because debate is being silenced. The left is worshipping at the global warming altar and Al Gore is preaching to us. We must convert, we have no choice. It is time for us to pay our fair share,we must now tithe our 10% to the government so that their god, the planet, can be appeased.
Obama Considers Firing the CEO of Citigroup
Feeling emboldened with the power over private businesses that the president now exercises he may now be ready to fire another CEO. This time Vikram Pandit, CEO of Citigroup, may be on the president’s chopping block. This is what happens once the government exercises a power that they were never supposed to have in the first place.
The president is now meddling in private businesses and deciding who should be hired and who should be fired. This is why the bailouts were so damned dangerous, they have given the president unprecedented power and he is not afraid to use it. This is what happens when a business jumps in bed with the government.
I am not saying that Vikram Pandit does not deserve to be fired, that isn’t up to me to say, nor should it be up to the president either. The decision on whether Vikram Pandit stays or goes should be left up to the shareholders.
What I am concerned with is the growing power in the federal government, there is already talk that the feds will begin to regulate how much a person can make even if that company has not received bailout money. This is becoming a case where the government is experimenting in social engineering and it is a little frightening to me to think that a majority of Americans may believe that it is perfectly acceptable for the president to be meddling in the business affairs of a private company.
I have to give him credit, he has been playing the class warfare card brilliantly. He has pitted one class of Americans against another and has made them feel as though bringing down the people who have earned success and stature is a good and noble cause when once it was considered noble to make something out of yourself. Where once the American dream stood now stands shame.
GITMO Detainees to be Moved to Montana?
Is this what the proponents of closing GITMO had in mind when they learned that the president was going to fulfill a campaign promise to close GITMO? Moving the detainees to a Montana jail?
I thought that the idea behind closing GITMO was that these prisoners were not really enemy combatants and that we were holding them illegally and abusing them. Why if we are illegally holding them should we then bring them to this country and continue to illegally hold them?
If they are being held illegally it is time to release them, if we have a legitimate reason to hold them than we have been lied to all of these years by the left for political gain. The truth is that these are dangerous people who need to be detained and the president knows this but in an effort to appease the far left he signed the order to close GITMO without considering what to do with the prisoners.
Now he is left with no place to put these enemy combatants, their own countries do not want them back. So it looks like he may ship them to Montana and keep them detained there. The question I would ask the left is, what is the difference where these prisoners are being held? The fact remains that many of them cannot be released into society and there never was a chance that they would be.
GITMO was used as a political tool and a wedge issue in the 2008 election, but nobody really believed that these people deserved to, or could, be freed did they? If, as the president claimed during the campaign, these people were being held illegally without being tried than the proper thing to do would be to try them in a court of law or let them go. But so far the administration has continued the Bush policies, perhaps President Bush was right all along. Why else would the current president continue the Bush policy on the GITMO detainees?
The fact that these people are still going to be held, even if it is in a different location, tells us all that we need to know about them. The fact remains that issuing the order to close GITMO was nothing but a political stunt.
These people should be kept in GITMO and never be allowed to set foot in the United States, if they go to trial let them face trial in GITMO. If they are going to be held indefinitely, let them be held in GITMO. If, as it appears, the president is just going to follow the Bush policy on GITMO detainees, let them stay in GITMO. Why bring them here is nothing is going to change?

The left wants the Bush administration investigated for war crimes and for torture. They have been calling for investigations for years. I have been against investigating the Bush administration all along. Well now I am joining the left and I demand we investigate the Bush administration NOW!
It is on, open up ALL of the records and let us see who did what and who knew what and when they knew it. The president released a few of the interrogation papers, select papers, to appease the left. These papers showed the harsh procedures that the Bush administration approved for use. This was a partisan move designed to appease the left but it hasn’t appeased them, it has just whet the appetite of the left.
The release of these papers has emboldened the left and there are now calls in the senate for a truth commission to investigate the Bush administration. The United Nations is now also getting involved and claiming that Bush administration lawyers need to be prosecuted. This is the can of worms that the president has opened up with the release of just a few selected documents. He should have thought all of the consequences through, but he didn’t.
We now believe that Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats in congress knew about the Bush administration approved interrogation methods and agreed with them. As a matter of fact the question that was asked twice when congress was briefed about the administration’s interrogation techniques in 2002 was, do these policies go far enough? Nancy Pelosi is denying these charges but she has not asked for documents to be released to prove her innocence and neither is the white house willing to release further documents, although they will be releasing pictures of prisoner abuse designed to make the Bush administration look even worse. The only way to find out if Nancy Pelosi is telling the truth is to release all of the documents.
The president cannot pick and choose which documents to release. Now that some documents have been released, and now that the pictures will be released it is time for the current administration to release ALL of the documents. We need to know if Nancy Pelosi is a war criminal and whether she should be prosecuted alongside the former president and vice president. What is good for one war criminal is good for all of them.
But the president is hesitant to release the papers that will tell us how many, if any, attacks were prevented using the harsh interrogations and he refuses to begin a truth commission claiming that he wants to move on from the dark days of the past. Funny that he didn’t want to move on from the past before he released selected papers isn’t it? But now that he has learned that Democrats in congress, including Nancy Pelosi, knew about, and approved of waterboarding as early as 2002, and now that there is demand to release all of the papers he wants to move forward and forget the past.
Well in light of the recent revelations I think that now is the perfect time to move forward with the investigations. I want to know what Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and all others who have been so critical of the Bush administration knew and when they knew it. I want to hold these hypocritical bastards feet to the fire. I want everybody responsible for this to be prosecuted equally or not at all.
Today the senate committee voted to kill three bills that passed the New Hampshire house earlier this year; gay marriage, the bathroom bill, and the repeal of the death penalty.
The committee voted 3-2 to kill the gay marriage bill claiming that civil unions gave the same rights to gay couples as marriage so there was no need to change the definition of marriage.
New Hampshire became the first state in the country to pass a civil union or gay marriage law the correct way without the threat of judicial interference. Whether or not you agree with civil unions it was done through legislation by the legislature elected by the people and not through the over extension of the judiciary.
The civil union law in New Hampshire states that if a question arises within a civil union that the law of traditional marriage is to be referred to. This is equal rights for gay couples, just without the name. And that is how the committee saw it also.
In the state house the governor is breathing a sigh of relief. He claims that he is against gay marriage but was feeling the pressure from his party to sign this bill if it made it to his desk. He refused to say whether he would sign it or not, hoping that the decision would be made for him before it made it to his desk. It was.
The committee vote 5-0 to kill the bathroom bill. This bill would have allowed men who identify themselves as women, even if they are men to use any bathroom that they want to. All a man would have to do is claim that he feels like a woman and he would be able to use the women’s room. This would have opened the door to any potential sexual predator to stalk women in the bathrooms. The committee seeing the possible dangers shot this bill down convincingly.
Both of the above bills originally failed in the house but after a short recess the liberals were able to persuadeenough Democrats to change their votes. The bills were brought up for reconsideration and passed. Today justice was served considering the coercion that was applied to Democrat party members who didn’t toe the company line the first time around.
Michael Addison was sentenced to death, he is currently on death row. He put a gun to Manchester police officer Michael Briggs head and pulled the trigger. Officer Briggs held on to life for a few days but finally succumbed to his wounds and left behind a wife and two children. This case was cut and dry, there is no doubt about weather Michael Addison was guilty. He did it and now he must die according to a jury of his peers.
Opponents of the death penalty used the publicity of this case to bring a bill forward to repeal the death penalty. Today the committee voted 3-2 to kill the bill. The committee voted to recommend a study on the issue and then come back to the table.
Overall this was a good week for New Hampshire. With the special election victory of Republican Jeb Bradley, and the news that moonbat Representative Carol Shea-Porter may be in trouble in the 2010 elections it feels like things may be beginning to turn around.
Every once in a while the people rise up and make their voices heard so loudly that the government has to listen. The last time that the people rose up in anger and stopped legislation from being passed was the Bush/McCain/Kennedy illegal alien amnesty bill. The American people wrote letters and emails, blogged and called senators and representatives in such large numbers that the government had to listen and vote down the amnesty bill.
Today the American people have risen again and stopped a directive by the Department of Defense that stipulated that used bullet cases would no longer be sold to ammunition retailers for reloading and would be scrapped instead. The Department of Defense has rescinded that order based on the outrage that ensued.
Shipley said thousands of calls, letters and e-mails went to the DOD and to lawmakers to protest the now-rescinded order, which would have made the brass available only as useless scrap metal to be sold to China and other countries.
This directive from the DOD was the first salvo fired (pardon the pun) towards gun owners by this administration. The first target of this administration when it comes to the second amendment was and is ammunition. This was a stealth attack on the right to bear arms and it might have been having some effect as ammunition all across the country is in high demand and manufacturers can’t keep up production to the levels required. As a result prices for ammunition have risen dramatically over the last few months.
Today the people fought back and gained a victory, so much pressure was put on that the Department of Defense had no choice but to rescind the directive on destroying used shell casings.
We may have one this battle, but it was just the first battle. We can’t let our guard down because the attack on the second amendment has just started.
Is the New Hampshire GOP Ready to Make a Comeback in 2010?
I feel that New Hampshire may be turning the corner as frustration grows with Governor Lynch and his out of control spending. Maybe I am still riding the wave of optimism that I have been feeling since last week’s tea party but I feel that residents are beginning to tire of the governor and may be ready for a change.
Republican Jeb Bradley winning a special election earlier this week bolstered my feelings that New Hampshire is ready for a change and now comes this article from politico.com that considers the same thing.
My representative, Carol Shea-Porter, could be facing a tough re-election bid in 2010. As the article linked to above states, she rode a toxic anti-Bush/anti-war wave into office in 2006 and also rode this current president’s wave of popularity into her re-election in 2008. In 2010 she will have no help higher up on the ticket, she will be on her own and even some New Hampshire Democrats are admitting it won’t be as easy this time around in New Hampshire.
In 2006, if you were a Democrat, … [you] were going to win no matter what office you were running for. And in 2008, you had Barack Obama on the ticket,” added state Sen. Martha Fuller Clark, a Democrat who ran unsuccessfully for the seat in 2002. “I think everything will be much more wide open for Democrats in 2010 than in the last two cycles.”
I believe between the current out of control spending in Concord coupled with the out of control spending in Washington, which Carol Shea-Porter voted for 100% of the time, that New Hampshire voters are finally beginning to say enough is enough. And her approval ratings may prove this:
A late February University of New Hampshire survey showed Shea-Porter with a weak 38 percent favorability rating among all voters
She remains popular with Democrats, not surprising, and has a favorability rating among Republicans of only 15%, again not surprising. But where her trouble lies is with the moderate voters:
just 34 percent of moderates view her favorably
If that number does not improve I think that she will find it very hard to get re-elected next year. This coupled with two possible Republican candidates with name recognition, John Stephen, and Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta, could pose a problem for the congresswoman.
Plus her fund-raising is way down.
her $130,000 haul during the first quarter was the smallest of any of the 40 endangered incumbents on the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s Frontline program. Her $121,000 cash-in-the-bank total at the end of the quarter also put her at the bottom of the heap.
2010 could be the year that New Hampshire finally starts to correct the out of control state government, and begins the road back to fiscal responsibility.
