Treasury Refuses to Comment on Banks That Are Not Being Allowed to Pay Back TARP Money
Over the weekend I wrote about how there are several banks who no longer need the TARP funds and these banks tried to give the money back to the federal government but the administration refused to take the money back.
The TARP money comes with government controls and when the banks give the money back the stipulations go away, but the president isn’t interested in saving the economy and he isn’t interested in saving the banks. He is interested in controlling them and running them, that is why he will not allow the banks to pay back the TARP funds– he wants control.
The treasury department has been asked several questions about the president’s refusal to accept repayment of the TARP funds but they are unwilling to comment.
Despite repeated requests for the information from CNSNews.com, Treasury spokesman Andrew Williams wouldn’t say how many financial institutions want to give the money back in exchange for getting their stock back.
The Treasury Department also will not say whether it has refused any requests from financial institutions to repay the money they took from the government
This unwillingness to answer the questions is a confirmation in my book. The treasury department is not allowing the banks to give the money back because they want government to control the banks.
Once a government extends it’s power it never gives it back.
California to Consider Banning Big Screen Televisions
California is going to consider banning big screen televisions in order to save the planet from global warming.
Does anybody need any more proof that the global warming hoax has nothing to do with saving the environment? This whole fraudulent crisis is designed to tax and regulate Americans into the dark ages. This is designed to tell Americans what they can do, what they can drive, and now even what they can buy.
This hoax is being used to lower the standard of living in this country. These people are communists. I heard it said on the radio that green is the new red, and when you hear something as preposterous as this that saying doesn’t seem so paranoid now does it?
This isn’t about the environment, it is about government control.
New Hampshire Fights Back Against Massachusetts Sales Tax Plan Part 3 (The Border War is Over)
Massachusetts has a tax that is called a “use tax.”
Massachusetts has a sales tax and this sales tax drives residents who live on the New Hampshire border into New Hampshire to buy high priced items, the state of Massachusetts still wants to collect the tax that they feel it is owed. The “use tax” requires Massachusetts residents to claim on their income taxes items bought in New Hampshire that are used in Massachusetts so that the residents can pay sales tax even though the items were bought in New Hampshire.
Needless to say, this is an unenforceable law so Massachusetts has decided to do the next best thing. Massachusetts is harassing New Hampshire business owners and trying to force them into an audit to see if the stores owe Massachusetts any money for items that Massachusetts residents bought. Because Massachusetts can’t collect the money from her residents she is trying to screw over New Hampshire businesses.
This does not sit well with New Hampshire Governor John Lynch, who has been fighting this harassment tooth and nail.
And the New Hampshire Attorney General had this to say:
New Hampshire businesses will not become agents of Massachusetts tax authorities
Today the border war may be coming to a close soon as Senate Bill 5 passed with a unanimous vote that would stop any state with a sales tax from requiring New Hampshire businesses to report sales that were made to out of staters to that persons home state. This bill has the support of the governor and it will be signed on the near future.
Massachusetts will have to enforce their own tax laws, New Hampshire is not going to do it for them.
Obama Refuses to Comment on Somalia Hostage Crisis
The president had a press conference scheduled for this morning about housing and refinancing. The Great One should have realized that reporters would ask him about the Somalia hostage crisis but apparently he didn’t. When he was asked about the Somalia pirates taking United States citizens hostage he seemed to be taken aback. His response to reporters was, “guys, we’re talking about housing right now.”
Now I understand what the press conference was supposed to be about and I understand that the president isn’t going to go into details about what he is or isn’t doing about the hostage situation but the proper thing for this ignorant bastard to do would have to at least given a statement about the crisis. A simple statement acknowledging the crisis and at least reassuring the families that they are doing everything they can to guarantee the safe return of their loved ones. Tell the families that their loved ones are in his thoughts. Show a little bit of compassion and caring.
Show a little bit of leadership.
The way he callously and indifferently shrugged off the questions about a crisis in which American citizens are being held hostage is disgraceful.
The president was overseas last week bowing down to the king of Saudi Arabia and kissing the ass of Turkey. How is he re-payed for his efforts? Exactly how I thought he would be re-payed for showing weakness.
He is so afraid to offend Muslims that he doesn’t dare to say anything about the hostage crisis. That is the corner that he has painted himself into. So he will keep his mouth shut instead. I just thought it would have been appropriate to at least acknowledge the crisis and the suffering of the families who are going through this. I am not even asking him to come out and threaten the pirates. I just want him to show a little leadership.
The world is watching his reaction to this and they are waiting. So far he has failed miserably.
Obama to Push Immigration Reform (Amnesty) This Year

One of my biggest concerns about the presidential election last year was where the candidates stood on illegal immigration. Both supported amnesty for illegal aliens. The fact that John McCain actually authored the amnesty bill, along with Ted Kennedy, that would have granted amnesty to illegals is one of the biggest reasons that made him such a horrible choice as GOP candidate for president.
President Bush and John McCain tried to push through immigration reformthat would have granted amnesty for illegals but it was stopped in the House of Representatives when the voice of the people was heard. The people were vehemently opposed to this idea in large numbers. After the representatives received thousands of angry phone calls and email the conservatives in the house managed to kill the bill.
But everything has changed now. There are fewer conservatives in the house and in the senate and there is a pro-amnesty president in the White House (which we would have gotten either way last November). It comes as no surprise that immigration reform is back on the table and the president hopes to push hard on immigration reform this year. Naturally this immigration reform would include rewarding those that broke the law to get in the country with citizenship– amnesty.
He said then that comprehensive immigration legislation, including a plan to make legal status possible for an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants, would be a priority in his first year in office
While Americans are losing their jobs in this tough economy it seems like a doubly bad time to begin debating the horrible notion that illegals should be granted amnesty. It seems to me that if we began adhering to the immigration laws that are on the books and began deporting some of these 12 million illegals it would open up more jobs for some of the Americans who are losing their jobs.
I don’t want to hear President Bush’s condescending excuse from the last immigration debate that Americans won’t do these jobs used in this debate. There are plenty of Americans who need jobs right now and if taking a job that has opened up because an illegal has been deported means putting food on the table for his family that American will do that job.
It just doesn’t seem rational that any political leader would say, let’s give millions of foreign workers permanent access to U.S. jobs when we have millions of Americans looking for jobs
So the debate is coming and as I said, there are fewer of the conservatives who stopped this bill the last time around to stop it again. As I see it, the House of Representatives is still the only chance we have of stopping this once the debate gets started.
Hopefully there are enough of the Blue Dog Democrats in the house that can be persuaded to vote against any immigration reform legislation. We will need to rise up the way we did the last time through telephone calls and emails. We will need to be heard once again.
This is exactly the reason that representatives in the house face re-election every two years– to hold them accountable by the people for their actions. I can’t believe that if enough Republicans and Blue Dog Democrats in the house face thousands of angry phone calls and emails that they will be able to resist the will of the people knowing that they face re-election if they want to keep their job.
This is the only chance that we have to stop this once it gets started, the senate is lost as is the White House on this issue, the power is in our hands. We need to be heard once again.
Sure the president has threatened those Democrats who don’t fall in line with him when he said “don’t think we’re not keeping score, brother” to a Democrat representative who voted against the stimulus package, but our representatives should remember (and be reminded) of one thing. WE THE PEOPLE ARE KEEPING SCORE, and we are the ones who write your ticket. The members of the House of Representatives were sent to Washington to represent us and they must be held accountable if they vote against our wishes.
We may face an uphill battle on this issue the way the congress is presently constituted by we have to try, and we have to be loud. It is the only chance that we have. To quote the president, we are the ones that we have been waiting for. The future of America depends on us.
According to John Holdren, the president’s science adviser, the president is ready to take drastic, radical actions to save the planet from the hoax that is also known as global warming.
One of the stupid ideas that is being seriously looked at is shooting pollution into the atmosphere in order to deflect the sun’s rays. Correct me if I am wrong, but haven’t we been told that pollution (renamed greenhouse gasses) is what is causing global warming?
I thought that car exhausts and big factories were belching pollution into the air and this was causing the planet to warm. Isn’t the president’s cap and tax trade proposal supposed to punish companies who pollute too much? Now we are being told that polluting the air is a technique that can be used to save the planet from the factories that are polluting the planet.
If polluting the air is the only way to stop global warming then wouldn’t it be beneficial to drop the cap and tax trade proposal and allow the factories to continue to pollute the air? The only problem is that there is no money in that for the government, and that is what this whole scam is about; raising revenue (taxes.)
The more these people talk the more credibility they lose.
Last week during his “America Sucks” world tour the president bowed down to the King of Saudi Arabia. This is the King of the nation from which many of the terrorists people came from that implemented the man-caused disaster (as Janet Napolitano likes to refer to both terrorism and terrorists) known as September 11th. President Bush was criticized for going into Iraq when most of the terrorists were from Saudi Arabia and now this president is bowing down like a subservient little dog to the king of this very same country.
This was part of the president’s outreach program designed to make us more well liked around the world. He then went to Turkey and kissed a little ass over there, this was also part of his idea of reaching out. So how does the Turkish media respond to this outreach?
By doing a report in black-face.
Turkey is laughing at us, Turkey is laughing at the president. He has been made into a laughing stock. Nobody overseas is actually taking our president seriously.

Today the president’s administration denied that he bowed to the king of Saudi Arabia.
It wasn’t a bow. He grasped his hand with two hands, and he’s taller than King Abdullah,” said an Obama aide, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
This is just an outright lie. Everyone who has seen the video knows that this was a bow. For the administration to deny it now is asinine. How stupid does he think that we are? The president is on video bowing to the king and the administration has the gall to deny it.
The administration must be feeling the fallout from this gesture in order for them to actually release a statement that claims what we saw isn’t what it looks like. The administration would have been better served if it had just stayed quiet, or even released a statement claiming that he was just showing respect to the king, than to release a statement that is such an obvious lie. This administration is losing whatever credibility it though it had on foreign affairs every day.
Somali Pirates Seize United States Ship, Where is Obama?
The world is testing our president, and he is failing.
On the very day that the president claimed he could see a world without nuclear weapons, North Korea tested him, they launched a missile that someday may be able to carry a nuclear warhead to Hawaii or even Alaska. Make no mistake, Kim Jong il challenging the president, he was feeling him out. The president said if the missile was fired he would call Kim Jong il a bad, bad boy. He has failed to even do that yet. There has been no response by the administration to this provocative move by North Korea.
This weak reaction, or non-reaction, has emboldened other who are not so friendly to the United States.
Today Somali pirates hijacked a ship that was sailing under the American flag and had an American crew. As I write this the crew was able to regain control of the vessel but the captain has been taken hostage.
In response to this attack the president has said…..NOTHING. He hasn’t even released a statement condemning the attack. NOTHING.
President Bush has been criticizedforwaiting so long to react after the second plane hit the World Trade Center and he was told we were under attack. How long was his inaction? Wasn’t it a minute or two until he had the chance to excuse himself from the classroom he was in?
This attack happened several hours ago, we are being told that the president is monitoring the situation closely, but he still hasn’t said a damned thing.
The word now is that a Navy destroyer is en route, this should have happened right away. But at least it is finally happening even at this late period in the crisis.
Let us all hope that this ends well and that all of the ship’s crew come home safely. Let us also hope that this president will learn a lesson soon, before something bigger happens. His inaction and confusion over what to do about North Korea has shown the world that he is weak and today Somali pirates are looking to exploit that weakness.
The world is watching Mr. President.
Joe Biden warned us that the president would be tested early and he was right. The president has now been tested twice. Joe Biden also said that it would look like the president would make the wrong response.
Well, he was right on two counts.
Porkers of the Year: Nancy Pelosi And Harry Reid
Congratulations are in order for both Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. They are the 2008 “Porker of the Year” dual award winners. These two porker supremes won the on-line poll and have taken home the prestigious award.
Here is part of the statement from Citizens Against Government Waste, who sponsor the award:
Although both leaders have garnered rotten reviews from CAGW as well as other taxpayer watchdogs for years, like all the truly committed abusers of tax dollars, they refused to rest on their proverbial laurels
After their slacker period, and throughout early 2009, Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Reid came roaring back when they were front and center in the legislative battle over President Obama’s so-called ‘stimulus bill,’ ginning up anxiety and fomenting panic among taxpayers at every opportunity in order to finally muster support for passage of the outrageous $787 billion plan
Apparently both Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid were so moved by this award that they are speechless for once as both offices declined comment. Hopefully we will hear from them as soon as they are able to reign in the emotions they are feeling.
But lets not forget those that tried so hard and came up just a little short, please join me in giving Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.), Rep. Jim Moran (D-Va.), Rep. John Micah (R-Fla.) and Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) a round of applause. They tried their best and they deserve credit also.
Once again let me congratulate Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid on the honor that has been bestowed upon them and let me wish them also good luck in the future as they look to defend this award. I am sure if they give it their all they will be right back here again next year.
New Hampshire Gun Shops Can’t Keep Ammunition in Stock
Gun sales have gone through the roof since last November as people who are worried about the president’s second amendment position has them buying guns before it is too late.
Gun shop owners have reported that they have not been able to keep guns on the shelves, but it isn’t only the guns themselves that there is a shortage of. One of the president’s positions on the regulating of guns is to tax the hell out of the ammunition, make it too expensive for people. Many guns shops are regularly running out of ammunition as people look to stock up before the government increases taxes on the ammunition.
I personally have seen both of these scenarios over and over again here in New Hampshire, where the gun laws are some of the most lenient in the country, and which has been named the safest state in America. When going to any of the local gun shops and perusing the shelves it is amazing how small of a selection there is. To my casual observance it appears that anything over a .32 caliber handgun is hard to come by. The same can be said for the ammunition, every time that you walk into the store you are never sure what they will have in stock for ammunition.
There is a shortage of ammunition across the country and it is because of this president and his second amendment positions. The hardest ammunition to come by are calibers that are the most popular for personal protection.
Right now, the big run is on four particular items: 9mm handgun ammunition, .380-caliber handgun ammunition, .45-caliber handgun ammunition
The fact that so many gun rights advocates are buying anything that they can get their hands on should tell you something about where this president stands on the second amendment. It is ironic that his strict, I would say radical,position on gun rights is actually having the opposite effect from what he would wish.
This isn’t just some paranoid gun nuts running out and buying weapons in a panic. People are applying for gun permits at record levels, women are buying weapons and applying for permits at record levels as well. There is a reason for this, and there is a reason that stores can’t keep ammunition is stock and it isn’t just paranoia as the media would have you believe. People who never owned guns before are now buying them, these people could hardly be considered gun nuts.
I have written in the past about the plan to serialize ammunition under the Ammo Accountability legislation, this act would force manufacturers to serialize ammunition and would also outlaw reloading. And I have written about states that had legislation pending that would charge a $5 a round tax on anti-personnel ammunition, which is basically a $5 a round tax on all handgun ammunition. With the shortage of ammunition the price of a 50 round box in New Hampshire has risen to about $15, when you add the anti-personnel tax the price becomes $265 for a box of 50 rounds.
Is it any wonder why gun shops can’t keep ammunition is stock?
