Obama DOJ Nominee Once Compaired Pregnancy to Slavery
I am a little late with this story, I apologize, but this is a story that still needs to be written about.
Dawn Johnsen, who is President Obama’s nominee for the head of the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel once equated pregnancy to slavery. She did this in a brief filed with the Supreme Court in 1989 while she was working for NARAL.
In the papers, Johnsen said that any restriction that makes abortion less accessible is, in her view, tantamount to “involuntary servitude” because it “requires a woman to provide continuous physical service to the fetus in order to further the state’s asserted interest [in the life of the unborn].”
In effect, a woman “is constantly aware for nine months that her body is not her own: the state has conscripted her body for its own ends.” Such “forced pregnancy,” she contends, violates the Thirteenth Amendment, which prohibits slavery.
When she was first questioned by Arlen Specter about this radical view during her senate confirmation hearing she tried to deny ever writing those words but as she was pressured by Specter she relented and admitted that the words filed in the Supreme Court brief were indeed her words. Now she claims that she is shocked by her former words but still claims she made no 13th amendment analogy. But she clearly did.
This radical view is exactly the kind of view that would draw Obama towards her for a cabinet position. This president is the most far left leaning president the country has ever had. He believes, as does Johnsen, that ANY restrictions on abortion are a threat to Roe vs Wade and so they must be squashed. Even if that means trying to argue that pregnancy violates the 13th amendment.
On top of these offensive statement she also tried to lie about it during her senate confirmation hearing. Another ethical pick by the president.

Obama’s Energy Plan is a Backdoor Tax Increase
President Obama has cut the taxes of middle class Americans temporarily by $13, this will drop temporarily to $8 next year before returning to the current rate in year three permanently. But there are other taxes middle class Americans are going to be paying that will not only nullify these tax decreases but will also surpass them.
First there is the expiration of the Bush tax cuts that Obama has said he will let expire, this will raise taxes on ALL Americans, not just the rich. And as if that tax increase isn’t enough, Obama’s cap and trade policies on emissions that theoretically are to blame for global warming (thankfully, like every other problem to a Democrat, a tax will just happen to solve the problem, that sure is convenient, huh) will also amount to a tax increase on ALL Americans. This includes the middle class.

Dave Camp of Michigan, the top Republican on the Ways and Means Committee. “How we light our homes, heat our homes and pay for the gas in our cars, in every phase of our daily lives, we will be paying higher costs
This is the one part of the global warming issue where the debate is closed, there can be no more debate on the issue of global warming and taxes. The debate is over. Policies designed to fight this scam all involve the American people paying higher taxes. Every American.
Even White House Budget Director Peter Orszag is admitting that Obama’scap and trade plan is going to hit the American people with higher energy costs, he isn’t trying to hide that little backdoor tax increase any more. We are ALL going to pay higher taxes. But that is what you get with Obama, it should surprise nobody.
Yet the president is still out there claiming that 95% of Americans will get a tax break. He and Orszag are still using the angle that Americans are getting tax breaks elsewhere, but when these tax breaks are smaller (and only temporary whereas Obama’s cap and tax trade proposal will be permanent) than the tax increases that the American people are about to receive, what the hell good are they? He is giving us a kiss before he, well you get the idea.
A Congressman Introduces a Bill That Would Ban GITMO Detainees From Setting Foot in the USA
One of the first things that the current president did upon taking office was to issue the irresponsible executive order to close GITMO before he knew what the hell we were going to do with the terrorists held there. A clear political move that I still feel will not come to pass.
But just in case it does come to pass there is one congressman, John Shadegg, who has introduced a bill that would ban all GITMO detainees from setting foot on American soil. Sadly we all know that this bill will probably never make it out of committee for a vote on the floor, but I still hope that it does. I would love to get every politician on record as to where they stand on this issue. We already know where John Murtha stands on this issue, he said he would gladly take them into his back yard.
It is good to know that there are still some politicians out there who understand what we are up against, I just wish there were more. Hopefully this bill will make it to the floor so that we can find out how many we do have that get it.
Obama to Review the Conscience Clause on Abortions
President Bush signed into law a bill which states that an OB/GYN does not have to perform an abortion if he/she feels it is immoral or if it is against their beliefs. This is known as the “conscience clause” and it is the next target of this president’s administration.
Here is the reasoning behind the people who believe that doctors should be forced to perform abortions:
“This HHS regulation places patients’ rights directly behind the rights of ideologically driven physicians and anyone else directly or indirectly involved in their health care.”
The people who support recinding the “conscience clause” believe that this clause puts the patients rights behind the rights of the morality of the offending doctor. What the doctor believes means nothing to these people because they feel that they hold the moral high ground.
If a doctor feels that abortion is wrong should the government step in and tell the doctor that he has no choice? Aren’t there plenty of doctors who will perform abortions that the woman can go see? A woman wishing to have an abortion will have no problem going to a clinic that performs abortions, so there is more to it than that.
We all know how the president feels about abortion, he loves abortion. Remember, he considers babies punishment for bad behavior, or mistakes. He said the following about his daughters, “but if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby.” That was his potential grandchild that he was calling punishment.
And then there is his refusal to vote to protect babies who were born alive when they survived late term abortion attempts. There is nothing more disgusting that I can think of in this world than that position. These babies were left alone, cold and crying until they died.
So it comes as no surprise that a man as ideologically driven on the issue of abortion as is the president would consider it okay to force his opinions on others, including the doctors who are opposed to abortion. It comes as no surprise that he will force doctors to perform this procedure even if they find it immoral.
This president feels that it is up to him to decide what is moral and what is immoral, what is ethical and what is unethical. He feels that he should be our conscience on issues of morality, and one way or the other we will eventually agree with him. Like it or not. Again we are subjected to this man’s arrogance.
Senator Tom Coburn of Oklahoma, who is also a OB/GYN has said that he would rather go to jail than to perform an abortion, and he also claims that there are many others like him. I for one hope that he is right. I hope that doctors will stand up for what they believe in and not bow down to dear leader.
This is the most pro-abortion president that we have ever had, he considers any restrictions on abortion whatsoever as a threat to Roe vs Wade and that includes doctors who are opposed to the practice. He is for partial birth abortions where labor is induced and the child is halfway birthed only to have his/her brains sucked out or his/her spinal cord severed, and is for infanticide, as his non vote in the Illinois senate proves. The United States is now sending taxpayer dollars overseas so that you and I can fund abortions in other countries thanks to this president. He can’t have anything that he considers an attack on Roe vs Wade be implemented and we have seen the depths that he will go to in order to insure that there are no restrictions whatsoever on this practice. Even if it means forcing people to perform abortions who would otherwise be opposed to it.
This issue goes beyond abortion and into another one of this president’s great loves; government intrusion. Two separate practices that I find vile on their own merits.
Democrats Pull D.C. Voting Rights Bill off of the Floor
According to this article the Democrats have pulled the D.C. Voting Rights Act off of the table and there will be no vote on it. The article states that the conservative (Blue Dog) Democrats were not going to support the bill and thus it was removed from the calender.
While you may agree or disagree with whether the residents of Washington D.C. should have a voting representative in the house the bottom line is that this bill was unconstitutional and it should have been defeated for this reason alone.
Article 1 Section 2 states that “The House of Representatives shall be composed of Members chosen every second Year by the People of the several States.” Needless to say, Washington DC is not a state and under the constitution is not eligible for a representative in congress. If the politicians feel that Washington D.C. should have a voting representative in congress the constitution spells out the correct way to amend it. That is the proper procedure to follow, the same procedure that was followed in 1961 that gave D.C. residents the right to vote.
I don’t have a strong feeling either way on whether Washington D.C. should have a voting representative in Washington but I do want to see the constitution adhered to, and this bill would have been unconstitutional.
But there is one little interesting aspect to this story. This is the same bill that had another unconsitutional aspect to it. Dick Durbin attached a bill “to encourage and promote diversity in communication media ownership, and to ensure that the pubic airwaves are used in the public interest.” The fairness doctrine under another name. An unconstitutional attack on the freedom of speech and of the press.
In the same bill Jim Demint also attached the “Broadcaster Freedom Act,” to ban the fairness doctrine. These two competing amendments were added to the same bill. So there was allot of interesting maneuvering with this bill. One has to wonder if there was more than meets the eye with regards to this bill being killed.
Not Another one! Obama Nominee Ron Kirk is a Tax Cheat
Stop me if you’ve heard this one before, a cabinet appointee of President Obama’s has tax problems. Just for the record todayis March 3rd and the latest criminal nominated to serve under President Obama is Ron Kirk who was tabbed by the president to be his U.S. trade representative. You are not reading an old post, this is not a re-post, this is yet another tax cheat who was appointed by President Obama.
Now let me get a little more serious, this is appointee number four for the president who has tax problems. Ron Kirk forgot to claim almost $40,000 in income over five years as well as accidentally claiming to large of a deduction for some basketball tickets that he received, about $17,000 worth.
The committee found that Kirk failed to report as income $37,750 in honoraria collected for 16 speaking engagements at Austin College over those three years. One year, he deducted honoraria from four events as charitable donations though he hadn’t reported them as income, according to the committee report.
He also deducted too much for the cost of tickets to see the NBA Mavericks, reporting the entire $17,382 as business expenses, the report says.
The article goes on to say that he has agreed to pay the IRS the nearly $10,000 he owes them. First of all, he agrees to pay them what he owes them? Did he have a choice? Doesn’t he have to pay them?
Secondly, isn’t it strange how he suddenly has seen the light and agreed to pay the back taxes he owed now that he is up for a position in the Obama administration. Would he have agreed to pay these taxes if her weren’t? I don’t think so.
This is how the White House spokesman categorized this latest tax cheat and his problems:
The mayor is working with the Finance Committee on a few minor issues
Owing the IRS $10,000 is a minor issue, that is according to the White House spokesman. Lets see how far you or I get with that line of defense of the IRS ever comes knocking on our door.
Needless to say, the administration doesn’t see this as a problem, they feel his nomination is still on course for approval. And it probably is, these politicians in Washington are held to a different standard than we are.
The problem is that the Democrats won back the house and senate in 2006 because of what they called the “Republican culture of corruption” and then they won the White House by promising to bring change to Washington. These nominees are in direct contrast to both, they continue the “culture of corruption” that Democrats railed against, and they trample any real chance that change was ever going to come to Washington under the Barack Obama administration.
There is a $410 billion spending bill that is being debated on the floor of the senate, this is in addition to the $1 trillion stimulus bill recently passed. This bill contains over 8000 earmarks that total in the $3.8- $7.7 range.
President Obama has already said that he would sign this bill once it made it to his desk, breaking his campaign promise of signing no bills that include earmarks.
Republicans are now beginning to fight back and are attempting to reign in some of this spending. Yesterday John McCain called out the president on his promise to not sign a bill that included earmarks.
We need earmark reform and when I’m president, I will go line by line to make sure we’re not spending money unwisely,” McCain said, reading back Obama’s words at a debate last fall. “That’s the quote, the promise of the president of the United States made to the American people in a debate with me in Oxford, Miss. So what is brought to the floor today — 9,000 earmarks.…So much for change
John McCain is proposing an extension of the stop-gap bill that is currently keeping the government afloat while this bill gets a closer look. This idea is not popular with either party even though it would save about $19 billion, both sides already have their payoffs bribes earmarks in place and appear unwilling to cut them out.
It looks as though this bill will face a tough senate battle and may actually be trimmed down before it is passed and that is good news but it doesn’t answer one vital question. What happened to President Obama’s promise for earmark reform?
Republicans account for about 40% of the earmarks in this bill, they are not without blame here either but Obama promised he would not sign any bill with earmarks so that makes him more guilty than the rest of them. This was a campaign promise that he seems more than willing to break.
The administrations response to the criticism of this bill? Lets just pass it and move on. They seem unwilling to debate what is in this bill, and with good reason; this bill comes with more than just wasteful spending, it comes with broken promises. The sooner this bill is passed and the public forgets about it the sooner the public will forget about another President Obama broken promise.
With the economy in a recession and growing worse every day as the president unveils more of his plans, the last thing that this country needs is more wasteful spending. This is when we need a leader to stand up and say to the congress, cut the wasteful spending and send me a bill I can sign. It appears that President Obama is no such leader.
If ever you needed more proof that global warming is just an excuse to raise taxes perhaps this story will help provide you with the proof that you need.
Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick has proposed charging people a $2 “carbon fee” for parking at Logan airport. Even if you are a true believer that global warming is real and is man-made this “carbon fee” has nothing to do with saving the planet.
Governor Patrick is using the politically correct term of “carbon fee” to raise taxes, which as I have been saying for two years here, is the only true goal of global warming. (That and global socialization and subjugating the people.)
His intent here is not to cut down on carbon emissions or to dissuade people from unfriendly environmental habits, it is strictly to raise more money for infrastructure.
to be used for improvements to airport-related transit projects, including a proposal to build a new tunnel under South Boston to speed up the Logan-bound Silver Line bus service, and the initial phases of a long-term plan to build a transit loop around the city
Maybe these are needed and welcome projects but that is not the point. The point is that instead of just admitting that he is raising the fees for more construction projects he is hiding behind the ideal of global warming. What does building a tunnel have to do with carbon fees other than the fact that it provides a convenient way to raise more money for the state? If anything the construction vehicles will pollute the planet even more.
All I ask is that Governor Patrick be just a little more honest with his constituents and not hide behind what he thinks is a politically correct issue. This is a tax increase pure and simple and this “carbon fee” has nothing to do with carbon emissions or controlling them. This is just a way for him to raise more money and he is hiding behind the global warming hoax.
When you come right down to it, Governor Patrick isn’t doing anything that other global warming alarmist politicians wouldn’t do, he just isn’t bothering to hide behind the scam that the taxes he raises will go toward saving the planet. He is going to use the “carbon fees” for whatever the hell he wants to. But he is showing us that the ultimate goal of global warming is raising taxes, and for that we should be grateful.
Candidate Obama made a campaign promise to veto any bills that contained earmarks. He first broke that campaign promise when he signed the stimulus bill, although he was able to use semantics in order to claim that there were no earmarks in the stimulus bill. Technically he was right, according to the traditional definition of earmarks, but the bottom line was that the stimulus bill was one giant wasteful spending bill that we will be paying for for years to come. He signed it anyway, and was able to claim that there were no earmarks in it.
Now the administration is admitting that President Obama will sign the latest spending bill, the $410 billion spending bill, once it reaches his desk. This bill has over 8000 earmarks in it estimated between $3.8-$7.7 billion.
President Obama can no longer play games of semantics with the signing of this bill. This bill is pork ladened and when the president signs it he will be breaking his campaign promise.
Obama’s budget chief, Peter Orszag, is eager to just put this behind the administration:
We want to just move on. Let’s get this bill done, get it into law and move forward
He just wants to get this bill passed and move forward. Is it any wonder that he is unwilling to spend (pardon the pun) any amount of time discussing this bill? Again we see the arrogance within this administration and it starts at the top. While President Obama is saying one thing he will sign this bill and do the opposite.
It seems as though there is a shift in the Obama administration when it comes to earmarks:
“We want to make sure that earmarks are reduced and they’re also transparent. We’re going to work with the Congress on a set of reforms to achieve those”; said Orszag, director of the Office of Management and Budget.
The administration has apparently gone from opposing all earmarks to the policy of reducing earmarks and making them transparent. I believe there is a name for a shift in policy such as this; flip-flop. Although I prefer to say that President Obama is breaking a campaign promise. He lied during the campaign and promised something that he could not deliver.
That is where the problem with this administration lies. Not in the fact that he broke a campaign promise, all politicians do that, but the fact that he ran as the candidate of change, the candidate that would change Washington, and for him to go to Washington and acquiesce to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid shows us that he is no different than the others. His whole campaign was a fraud and people bought into it.
Rahm Emanuel has been quoted as saying, and I paraphrase, never let a crisis go to waste, it allows you to do things that you normally couldn’t get away with, and that is what this administration is doing. They are using this crisis to push through spending bills that would normally have the public up in arms. But the crisis is so great according to this administration that there is no time to debate these bill, we just need to get them into law and move forward. Don’t worry, they know what is best for us. We can trust them. RIGHT!
President Obama is still using that time honored tradition of blaming Bush.
“First, this is a $1.7 trillion deficit he inherited. Let’s be clear about that. We inherited this deficit and we inherited $4 trillion of new debt,” Emanuel said. “That is the facts.”
So it isn’t Obama’s fault that he has to break his no earmark campaign promise, it is President Bush’s fault. President Obama knew what the economic outlook was when he was running for president. Sooner or later he is going to have to take ownership of this economy. He did that in my opinion with the stimulus bill. Whatever happens from this point on with the economy falls on President Obama’s shoulders.
In one sentence above we see Obama’s budget director claiming that we need to sign the bill and move forward, yet in the next sentence we see Rahm Emanuel looking backwards and blaming the previous administration. This administration is trying to have it both ways.
Once the stimulus bill takes effect there can be no more looking backwards. For better or worse President Obama now owns whatever happens to the economy. It is time for them to put on their big boy pants and accept whatever happens with the economy from here on out. He doesn’t have Bush to kick around any more.
House minority leader John Boehner on Friday called President Obama’s spending policies the first step towards American socialism.
“First it was the stimulus, then the omnibus and now the budget,” Boehner said during a speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference. “It’s all a down payment on a new American socialist experiment.”
I can think of no better way to describe all of President Obama’s fiscal plans up until this point. They are all designed at a redistribution of wealth. They are all designed at ushering a new era in America, the socialist era. This is the Barack Obama that many of us feared we were getting, we just hoped that we would not get it this soon.
President Obama realizes that he has a limited amount of time to push these radical fiscal views before the American people catch on and that is why he is so agressive in pushing these plans. He needs to implement them before the American people catch on, by the time that the American people wake up it will be to late to reverse them.
John Boehner also claims that the “spending barrage is just beginning” and I have to day I agree with him on this also. President Obama’s policies in his first month in office have shown us that he is willing to spend money at an unprecedented level, and we still have four more years of this. There will be more bailouts, rest assured of that, and there will be more spending.
President Obama is going to go after those who have been successful in this country and he is going to punish them for their success through higher taxes. Where once the American dream stood now stands shame. When once success was proof that anything was possible in America, now success in America is just proof of her greed. To quote President Obama’s pastor of twenty years, Reverend Wright “Goddamn America.”
Some people look at those who have made it in America as inspiring, they find it uplifting and use it as motivation to aspire to the same lofty goals. Hell Barack Obama used the American dream as inspiration and he rose up to achieve great success.
But now that he has achieved that success he wants to punish those that have also achieved success. He looks at America and says Goddamn America. He doesn’t see the opportunity it has given him and many other Americans.
We need people like John Boehner to continue to expose President Obama for who he is. We need more people like John Boehner to step up and fight for us, fight for America. We need to limit the damage that Barack Obama does to the country until the 2010 elections.
We may not have enough Republicans in congress to stop all of President Obama’s policies but we must hope that Republicans are able to limit what he is able to accomplish. We need people like John Boehner to continue to fight for those that believe the American dream still means something today.
