United States Government Seizes Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac
Well, the responsibility of people who are having trouble paying off mortgages that they never should have been allowed to receive, as well as the responsibility of mortgage companies to not give the same people mortgages that they can’t afford, has shifted.
Once again the hard working, taxpaying, RESPONSIBLE families are going to have to foot the bill for irresponsible people who took out mortgages that they should have been smart enough to know that they couldn’t pay. And we are going to foot the bill for the mortgage brokers that are now losing money because they gave loans to people who they should have known couldn’t pay.
Today the federal government took over Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac which will shift the cost of all of the irresponsible lending and borrowing right into the laps of us, the responsible ones.
Officials announced that both giant institutions were being placed in a government conservatorship, a move that could end up costing taxpayers billions of dollars.
It does make you wonder though. Who are the smart ones here? Us, the taxpayers who work hard to make ends meet, who are responsible and don’t live outside our means? Or the people who just do whatever they want and wait for the government (taxpayers) to bail them out?
Effectively, the federal government has now become the nation’s mortgage lender
The conservatorship will be run by the Federal Housing Finance Agency, the new agency created by Congress this summer to regulate Fannie and Freddie, a move taken at the same time that Congress greatly expanded the power of the Treasury Department to make loans to the two companies and purchase their stock.
Wonderful, the government running another “private” company that they have no business in. In a look to the future I can see more and more of this happening as Barack Obama and John McCain think that this was a good idea.
As Ronald Reagan once said,”the most terrifying words in the English language are: I’m from the government and I am here to help.”
It’s time to bend over.
Charlie Rangel Caught in Tax Fraud Scandal
I wrote about Charlie Rangel being caught in the culture of corruption back on July 17th. That was for a scheme that he was running with his campaign offices. He was renting out rent controlled offices as his campaign offices. ILLEGAL!
But now it seems as though Charles Rangel is now in yet another scandal. This is a tax fraud scandal. Chalie Rangel “forgot” to report $75,000 in income from a rental property in the Dominican Republic, a rental property that he charges at least $500 a night to rent. He claims that he didn’t know that he had to claim this money as income.
How stupid does he think that we are? You receive rent and you don’t think that you have to report it? Give me a break. Charlie Rangel is the Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. The House Ways and Means Committee IS RESPONSIBLE FOR WRITING TAX LEGISLATION! Does he really think that we will for for this especially when we know that his committee is responsible for the tax laws?
This man is a fraud and needs to step down immediately.
Barack Obama Admits the Surge has Worked on the No Spin Zone
Barack Obama finally appeared on Fox News on the No Spin Zone. He finally showed just a little bit of courage and allowed himself to be interviewed by Bill O’Reilly. Of course this was an attempt by him to steal a little of John McCain’s spotlight at the RNC on the night John McCain was to give his speech. This coming after his campaign “urged” John McCain to not steal Barack Obama’s night by announcing his running mate during Barack Obama’s speech. So much for “what’s good for the goose is good for the gander” huh?
During this interview Barack Obama finally admitted that the surge was a success even though he refused to admit that he was wrong about the surge. He went so far as to say that the surge “worked beyond our wildest dreams”. Still he claims he was right to oppose it based on what he says is the lack of Iraqis to stand up for themselves. He must not be watching all of the news coming out about Iraq the last few days. He must have missed the report that said that 15 out of 18 benchmarks were reached. He must have missed the reports that the United States and Iraq have reached a “time horizon” for troop withdrawal by 2011, he must have missed General Petraeus’ report may include a reduction of troops, and he must have also missed the fact that the United States has turned Anbar Province over to the Iraqi’s. All of these recent developments were achieved because the Iraqi people are beginning to stand up. Barack Obama missed all of these events, he must have had something else on his plate that is taking up all his time.
But I want to address his assumption that the surge has worked beyond our wildest dreams.
Newsflash to Barack Obama: not everybody holds your contempt and distrust of the United States military. Some of us have faith in our troops. Some of us believe in our troops. Some of us knew that if the full force of the United States military were allowed to fight that there is no army that can defeat it. Some of us love the troops and the freedom that they provide and protect. Some of us knew that the troops would succeed if given the chance. Some of us only wish that the Iraq war was fought to win from the beginning instead of trying to fight a politically correct war.
So while you may have been surprised, maybe even disappointed, that the surge succeeded, most of us knew that it would succeed. It is not beyond our wildest dreams that the military would accomplish it’s goals, but it may have been above yours. Be a man, step up and admit you were wrong. And while you are at it, you owe the troops that you have shit on an apology.
Harry Reid Hints at Payback for Joe Lieberman
The Democrat party moonbats shit on Joe Lieberman in the 2006 elections and he lost to an anti-war opponent in the primary. Undaunted he ran as an Independent in the general election and the (slightly) more sane Democrats re-elected him. He did not leave the Democrat party, he was thrown out.
Even though he shunned the wishes of the leaders of the Democrat party by running as an Independent they welcomed him back to the fold. He was allowed to hold onto his Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairmanship. This was strictly done for political reasons. With a razor thin majority of 51-49 ( counting Lieberman as a Democrat voter) they were forced to kiss his ass for fear that he would jump ship. They couldn’t afford to lose his vote or their majority would be gone.
Now Harry Reid is threatening payback for Lieberman for speaking at the Republican National
Convention.
Currently the Democrats need Lieberman because with him they hold a 51-49 vote majority but with the gains that Democrats are counting on with their house and senate majorities Joe Lieberman may become expendable to them. Democrats are so sure that they are going to have a large majority after November that they are willing to begin speaking out against Joe Lieberman.
What was Lieberman’s crime? What did he do that has the Democrats so enraged? He stuck to his beliefs and principles and put them above partisan politics. He continued to support the Iraq war even when it became unpopular with the American people and the Democrats grew more and more anti-war for political gain. He stuck to what he believed was right and said to hell with the party.
Democrats aren’t used to a person who will stick to his beliefs even if they aren’t popular. Democrats are used to sticking their fingers in the air, seeing which way the wind is blowing, and then gutlessly floating in that direction. Joe Lieberman refused to compromise his belief that we should continue fighting the Iraq war, and while I disagree with this man on every other issue, If I were a Democrat I would be proud of Joe Lieberman because he is not a man who changes his positions based on partisan reasons. He stands up for what he believes in. Democrats, instead of praising his courage, are now ready to hang him politically for holding on to what he believes is right.
It is a sad state of affairs when doing what is right for the party is more important than doing what is right for the country.
In a sign that the Barack Obama campaign is growing increasingly more desperate, Joe Biden has said that if Barack Obama wins the presidency that he may pursue criminal charges against President Bush. The nomination of Sarah Palin as vice presidential candidate has rocked the liberal world, they are scared to death of her and that is why they have unleashed the full frontal assault of the liberal media upon her.
Now Barack Obama is so scared that his running mate is talking about criminal charges against President Bush. Barack Obama’s campaign has decided to turn even further to the left than he already is and that is a scary thought as he is already the most liberal person ever to win a major party’s nomination for president. This just shows the world how desperate he has become.
In most general elections a candidate tries to move to the center to attract moderate voters, but Barack Obama must be worried that Sarah Palin is going to win those votes so instead he turns even farther to the left. He is now the candidate who has to reconnect with his base after John McCain was the candidate who had problems with his base. Suddenly John McCain has shored up his base and Barack Obama is running scared, he needs to pander to the moonbats who care about nothing else other than bringing down President Bush. Sure this will make the far left in need of cold showers but how will it play to middle class America? It won’t help.
Joe Biden is out of touch.
My Take on Sarah Palin’s Speech at the RNC
Cross posted on Grizzly Groundswell
I was one of those people who when John McCain picked Sarah Palin as his running mate asked, WHO? I knew John McCain was going to screw this pick up and his choice of Palin confirmed it for me. But then I saw how quickly the media, the far left bloggers, and even more mainstream Democrats began to attack her mercilessly. The bloggers began to claim that Palin’s fifth child was really her grandchild and she was involved in a cover up. And suddenly the Democrats decided that a woman couldn’t raise a family and have a job at the same time. Democrats began to say that Sarah Palin should stay home and take care of her children. So much for the feminist movement, huh? All of a sudden Democrats want their women at home, barefoot, and pregnant. Politics is a tough game, honey, step aside and leave it for the men became their attitude.
The quickness that Democrats went into attack mode on Sarah Palin got me wondering why. Why are they attacking her so viciously? I came to the conclusion that they were afraid of her. There is something scary about her to them so they had to immediately discredit her. If they were in such a hurry to discredit her before she even spoke to America there must be a reason. But what is the reason? I just didn’t know enough about her to have an answer.
It was under this pretext that I tuned in to hear Sarah Palin speak last night. I had set the bar high, too high. I knew that there had to be something about her that had Democrats worried and I expected to hear it last night. I realized before the speech began last night that she could never deliver what I expected. Sure I liked what I heard from her after John McCain announced her as his running mate, but on the national stage in front of millions? No way.
When her speech was over I was disappointed. I was disappointed for a reason that I had hoped for but never really expected. I was disappointed because the speech was over, I could have, and wanted to, keep listening.
I thought that she did a great job of defining her family life. She came across as having the average American family, although five children isn’t average. A working mother and father supporting their family. She took a small shot at the media for their attacks on her and her family but didn’t dwell on it. That seemed to be the right angle for her to take, especially after hearing Hillary Clinton play the victim card time and time again during the Democrat primary. Perhaps the greatest compliment was payed to Sarah Palin by Gloria Steinem, although it was supposed to be a criticism, when she said this, “Palin shares nothing but a chromosome with Clinton.” in this article. Thank God. Sarah Palin came off as above the fray when it came to the politics of personal destruction.
She then showed how tough she is, not backing down and going right after Barack Obama and Obama’s criticism that she is less experienced than he. She shot holes in that whole argument. Perhaps my favorite line of the night, and there were many great ones, was ” Barack Obama had the time to write two memoirs but not a single law or reform.” While Barack Obama has talked a good game Sarah Palin has actually accomplished something. She has walked the walk while Obama has merely talked the talk.
I thought that Sarah Palin came of as a tough, down to earth person. She showed us what the Democrats are afraid of, she seems natural and comfortable in the national spotlight, not overwhelmed. I think that the best description of her that I heard was authentic, and that is sure a rarity in today’s politics.
Sarah Palin has invigorated the conservative base in a way that John McCain had hoped for but was unable to deliver himself. She was picked in my opinion to sway disgruntled Hillary supporters into John McCain’s camp, and she may be the perfect candidate to do that. While Hillary’s supporters will not agree with her on abortion I find it hard to believe that ANY voters go to the polls with abortion as their number one issue. Therefor I think that her image as an ordinary, down to earth working mother will attract some Hillary voters who can relate to her, but it may also draw the votes of working class, family men over to John McCain also. That is what has the Democrats so worried.
This campaign has just become very interesting and even though I was cynical of this pick when he made it, John McCain may have the perfect running mate.
I know one thing, I can’t wait to watch her mop the floor with Joe Biden in the upcoming vice presidential debate.
Palin vs Obama on Abortion
This whole “controversy” over Sarah Palin’s pregnant teenage daughter gives us an opening to take a look at the difference of opinion between her and Barack Obama on the issue of abortion. It comes as no surprise that these two people differ on this issue but this an an opportunity to take a closer look at it.
This is what Sarah Palin had to say about her daughter’s pregnancy:
Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We’re proud of Bristol’s decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents,”
Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family.”
I am sure that Sarah Palin was disappointed at her daughter’s carelessness and bad decision. But being the supportive and caring mother that she is, she vowed to give her the love and support that any true family would. She is proud of her daughter and even though she probably felt some amount of failure for not being able stop this from happening she is being supportive of her daughter. She may have failed to convince her daughter about unprotected sex but where she didn’t fail was in her effort to teach her daughter about the sanctity of life, even unborn life. And for that she deserves credit.
This is what family is to me. Sure, family members might not always agree. But to me family should always be there to support you through the bad times as well as the good. Sometimes you may let your family down, but when all is said and done the family will never let you down. They may be mad at you for a while, but blood is thicker than water, as they say, and a family’s love will always trump the disappointment you may have incurred from them.
Let’s contrast Sarah Palin’s love and support for her daughter with the hypothetical of the pregnancy of one of Barack Obama’s daughters. When talking about sex education and contraception, this is what Barack Obama had to say about the possibility of one of his daughters making a mistake and getting pregnant, “But if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby.”
Punished with a baby? Instead of promising to love the baby that would be his grandchild he considers the grandchild a punishment. There is no thought about this child being life, just an inconvenience that can be easily done away with. The fact that this man sees a baby as punishment for a bad decision reveals quite a bit about this man. To me it is chilling that a man couldn’t look past his initial disappointment in his daughter’s decision, and love his grandchild, but would rather see his future grandchild as nothing more than a punishment.
That is a fundamental difference between Sarah Palin and Barack Obama. I know that I am comparing the Republican VP candidate to the Democrat presidential candidate, but I think I made my point. While one person declares that she will help her daughter and love her baby, the other candidate considers the potential baby a punishment. This is just a fundamental difference in the thinking between the two parties. And I think the difference is striking.
United States Hands Anbar Province Over to the Iraqis
The good news keeps on coming out of Iraq, although you wouldn’t know it based on the commercials and rhetoric being offered by Barack Obama and Joe Biden.
Yesterday the United States handed Anbar Province over to the Iraqis, they are now in charge of the province that once symbolized the insurgence in Iraq.
Two years ago, Anbar Province was the most lethal place for American forces in Iraq. A U.S. marine or soldier died in the province nearly every day, and the provincial capital, Ramadi, was a moonscape of rubble and ruins. Islamic extremists controlled large pieces of territory, with some so ferocious in their views that they did not even allow the baking of bread.
On Monday, U.S. commanders formally returned responsibility for keeping order in Anbar Province, once the heartland of the Sunni insurgency, to the Iraqi Army and police
Here is what Barack Obama had to say about this momentus occasion:
That’s right, he had nothing to say, he ignored the story completely.
The war in Iraq has improved to the point where a “time horizon” for withdrawal was negotiated between Condi Rice and Iraq, and General Petraeus is readying his proposal to draw down the troops, yet these developments are being ignored by the anointed one, Barack Obama. Now we have learned that the symbol of the supposed civil war in Iraq, Anbar Province, is safe enough to hand over to the Iraqis.
Even as Barack Obama negligently misrepresents the conditions in Iraq to impress his far left base the conditions on the ground in Iraq continue to improve.
Another milestone was reached today, a milestone that was good for America and bad for Barack Obama and the Democrats who so badly want the news out of Iraq to be bad. So instead of praising the United States military and congratulating them on a job well done the Obama campaign has just decided to ignore another sign that the war is winding down.
Former DNC Chairman: “Gustav Proof God is on our Side”
First we had Michael Moore claim that Hurricane Gustav was “proof there is a God in heaven“, and now former DNC Chairman Don Fowler had this to say about the impending natural disaster:
His thoughts on the people who might be affected by the hurricane? None. The hurricane is proof that “God is on our side,” is what he said. (Our side being the Democrats of course) Thinking politically before all else. The thoughtless and cold-hearted way that he was able to put politics first is chilling.
He later apologized for the remarks:
“If this offended anybody, I personally apologize,” Fowler told ABC News. “It was a mistake, and it was a satirical statement made in jest. And one that I clearly don’t believe.”
Of course he then followed up his apology by blaming a right wing nutcase for taping him in the first place.
“One doesn’t anticipate that one’s private conversation will be surreptitiously taped by some right-wing nutcase,” said Fowler. “But that’s the nature of what we’re dealing with.”
Ah, the good ole right wing conspiracy is back. But he doesn’t even stop there, he then decides that he was just making satirical humor aimed at Jerry Falwell, who like the Reverend Wright blamed Americans for 9/11 although for different reasons. After watching the video it is quite obvious that he found it humorous that the hurricane was timed to hit land on the day the GOP convention started. There was no satirical humor, he was giddy about it.
These are some of the people who attacked President Bush for not caring about the poor people of New Orleans. These are the same people that used Katrina to say Bush is out of touch. Remember Kanye West’s George Bush doesn’t like black people comment? But when a natural disaster may be headed their way again what is the first thing that comes to their minds? Is the the people who will be affected? NO! The first thing that they think of is, “how will the election be affected?”
The DNC has has said that they need to make an effort to reach out to evangelical voters. Is this what they meant?
Michael Moore: “Hurricane Gustav is Proof God Exists”
This is all that you need to know about Michael Moore. When asked about the hurricane that is bearing down and may be headed to New Orleans this is what this asshole had to say:
I was just thinking, this Gustav is proof that there is a God in heaven,” Moore said, laughing. “To have it planned at the same time – that it would actually be on its way to New Orleans for day one of the Republican Convention, up in the Twin Cities – at the top of the Mississippi River.”
What was the first thing that this man thought about when he heard that this hurricane may hit New Orleans? Was it the welfare of the people who would be affected? NO! The first thing that came to his mind was to politicise this natural disaster. His first thought was how will this hurt Republicans? He laughed when he thought about how ironic it is that this hurricane could hit during the GOP national convention. He doesn’t give a damn about the people of New Orleans he only cares about how this could possibly hurt the Republican party and affect the November elections.
He then realized how heartless this sounded and tried to back off by saying he hopes that nobody gets hurt, but that was too late. He exposed himself for the heartless, uncaring bastard that he is. He has made millions off of the misery of others and I hope he is right about the existence of God because he should rot in hell.
