ACLU Claims that Immigration Enforcement “Terrorizes” Americans

May 22, 2008

Well, the American Criminals/Communist Liberties Union is at it again, this time claiming that when America enforces her borders and border laws, (not that it happens nearly as often as it should), that we are “terrorizing” people all across the fruited plain. Also get this, we are racially profiling people who sneak across the MEXICAN border.

“Local law enforcement has been given the green light to engage in racial profiling,” Joanne Lin, a legislative counsel with the ACLU, said at the briefing held by the Appleseed Foundation, a non-profit network of 16 public interest justice centers in the United States and Mexico.“Massive immigration sweeps are terrorizing communities across the country,
Apparently the ACLU is claiming that immigration enforcement is the responsibility of the federal government and not the states. They oppose the states helping out on immigration issues. Not everyone agrees with the ACLU’s asinine position, just look at what a senior fellow at Cato Institute’s Center for Constitutional Studies had to say:
Ilya Shapiro, senior fellow at the Cato Institute’s Center for Constitutional Studies and editor-in-chief of The Cato Supreme Court Review, said there is nothing unconstitutional about states cooperating with the federal government.
“The government cannot force states to cooperate, but if it’s done voluntarily, there is nothing unconstitutional about that,” Shapiro said.
We all know that the end game of the ACLU is not merely to uninvolve the states in immigration enforcement, that is only the beginning. The end game is to end all immigration enforcement, and they will do it one step at a time. How can they continue to call themselves the American Civil Liberties Union when there goal is to bring down the United States and everything we stand for? How can they call themselves the American Civil Liberties Union when they are representing foreigners, illegal foreigners, in a suit against America?

 It is time to :

Supreme Court Justice Hillary Clinton? Say it Ain’t so!

May 21, 2008

This article is speculating that if Barack Obama wins the nomination, he should nominate Hillary Clinton to the supreme court. The article suggests that Barack Obama should promise her now, in a compromise, the first supreme court position that becomes available if she drops out of the presidential race.

I have only one thing to say about that prospect. Hillary, please stay in the race! UUUGGGHHHH!!!!!!

Nancy Pelosi may Have Violated Campaign Finance Laws

May 21, 2008

As much as I would love to use this news to bash Nancy Pelosi, I am going to use it to bash John McCain instead. I am sure I may be able to find a little time to bash Nancy Pelosi before I am done writing.

Nancy Pelosi and Newt Gingrich have been running a national commercial about saving the planet from global warming. Before I get into the possible ramifications of this commercial I just wanted to say how disturbed I was and still am that Newt Gingrich agreed to do this commercial. It seems as though more and more people that I thought we could count on to slow down the alarmists from stealing our money are turning to the dark side. Now Newt appears to have joined in on the hoax. It is either that, or he is taking a page out of John McCain’s reach across the isle and appease the Democrats approach to politics. Either way it doesn’t bode well for the future of the party. Not to mention the fact that the commercial was paid for by Al Gore’s “non profit” group. What is Newt thinking? I am hoping it was Newt’s plan to do this commercial with her because he knew that is was illegal for Pelosi to run this ad. A setup, but I know that isn’t true.

Anyway, because a special election was going to be held within a month after the commercial began airing, it may be illegal.

Under the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002 – popularly known as “McCain-Feingold” and which passed with Pelosi’s support — the degree to which a candidate’s campaign can work with an independent group for a commercial is limited. The rules are set on content and conduct for any political commercial. Content rules can apply to the use of a candidate’s name, for instance, while conduct is determined by what role the candidate had, if any, in planning the production of the commercial. If a candidate is found to have helped plan an ad run by an independent group and the ad mentions the candidate’s name, it could be against the law.
The fact that Pelosi could have violated campaign laws because she ran a commercial with Newt Gingrich of all people is stupid. This just shows us how stupid John McCain and Russ Feingold’s attack on free speech, known as campaign finance reform is. To think that ads can’t be run before an election because it my sway the election is not just ludicrous it strikes at the very foundation of America. If you have no free speech you have nothing. John McCain and Russ Feingold should be ashamed of themselves. The fact that Russ Feingold would want to restrict free speech is not surprising, he is from the same party that has worked at restricting free speech for about twenty years now, only they call it being politically correct. Let’s not forget where the term politically correct came from. From wikipedia:

In Marxist-Leninist vocabulary, the term described the appropriate “party line”, the “correct line”. A similar term was used in the People’s Republic of China.

But this is where perhaps the fissures in John McCain’s conservatism began to surface. He considers this restriction of free speech as not only good and necessary but also as one of his greatest accomplishments. And people wonder why conservative won’t get behind him.

Well, I can’t let this post go by without talking about Nancy Pelosi’s part in all of this. While I don’t think that she broke this campaign law on purpose and I don’t think it could possible have benefited her in any way politically, she still has to be held accountable for her actions. She was a huge supporter of the campaign finance reform bill and as such she should have known what she could and couldn’t do.

Pelosi strongly supported the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002 that banned soft money contributions, while restricting the political advocacy of independent groups. Proponents of the bill said it would clean up politics from the influence of big money, while critics feared it violated the First Amendment.

In a Feb. 2, 2002 statement before the bill was passed, Pelosi said, “A vote for real campaign finance reform will end the corrosive influence of special interest money and level the playing field so that all Americans can participate.”

Intentional or not, Nancy Pelosi, the speeker of the house, of all people should have known what she was doing could be wrong. If she is found to have violated campaign finance reform laws whether she meant to or not, she needs to face the full punishment, not just a slap on the wrist.

Hillary Clinton Pathetically Campaigns as an After Thought

May 20, 2008
tags:

With all of the bickering back and forth between Obama and McCain on the prospects of America holding talks with terrorist states without pre-conditions one thing remains painfully clear. Hillary Clinton is nothing but an after thought, Barack Obama has moved on to the general election leaving Hillary in the dust.

Barack Obama realizes that Hillary’s campaign is over, John McCain realizes that Hillary’s campaign is over, the only person that doesn’t realize it is Hillary herself. McCain and Obama have started to clash on policies and Hillary is relegated to screeching out to anyone who will listen that she is still in the game. And she believes it too. But, alas it isn’t true.

She reminds me of the child who doesn’t think that she is getting enough attention from her parents while her parents attend to the needs of a sibling so she is tugging on her mother’s shirt to get attention. Hillary is that child, tugging on Obama’s shirt, saying, don’t forget about me. But Obama has forgotten about her, and more importantly the media has forgotten about her.

I almost feel sorry for her, but she has been the spoiled child for so long now that she is just getting her just rewards. Hillary, go sit in the corner.

New Hampshire Democrats Update Platform to Include an Income Tax

May 20, 2008

Last week the New Hampshire Democrat party had their state convention, and according to this article they tried to hide their true platform. While voting to amend the state party platform they failed to add language to oppose the death penalty, but only because they were reminded by party leaders that it might not be beneficial to oppose the death penalty before the election because a cop killer is going on trial just before the election. It wouldn’t look good, so they will wait until after the election to make their opposition public. Several Democrats changed their votes based on perception not principle.

I can understand if a person opposes the death penalty, I don’t have a problem with a person who thinks that it is wrong to end a person’s life for any reason. You just have to ignore the fact that most people that think that killing a murderer is wrong also think that killing an unborn baby just because you don’t want it is okay. The hypocrisy is astounding.

But that is not what I wanted to write about tonight, that is a discussion for another day. I wanted to write about the other sneaky thing that the Democrat party did at the convention last week. They added to their party platform their support for an income tax. They just used a little creative language to disguise it.

delegates approved a platform amendment supporting a new state tax system “that would lower property taxes while at the same time considering ability to pay as a criterion for assessing taxes.”

As the article goes on to say, there is only one form of tax that would consider the ability to pay. It would have to be based on how much a person earns, an income tax. The fallacy in this whole scheme is the notion that property taxes would be lowered. I call bullshit. If an income tax is instituted it will be in addition to the property tax, not in place of the property tax. New Hampshire residents will just have even less money, but the government will have more money. And that is all that Governor Lynch really cares about when all is said and done.

What is equally disturbing is the number of Democrats that voted in favor of the income tax, it was approved by a 336-188 vote. So be warned New Hampshire, if you vote these people back in you deserve what you get.

How many voters aren’t even aware that this went on last week and will vote for these clowns without even knowing what they are voting for? How many people will vote for these people just because they don’t approve of President Bush? How many voters feel that they are worse off than before because of the economy and gas prices and are going to vote for the very people who have now made it part of their party’s platform to take more money away from them?

New Hampshire voters need to start paying attention to what is going on in this state. AND FAST!

Boston Children’s Hospital Opens Transgendered Clinic for Children

May 20, 2008

Sometimes I read a story and I just have to shake my head, and now I have read another of those stories. Boston Children’s Hospital is opening a brand new clinic for children. Sounds like a wonderful idea, doesn’t it? But this wing is for children AS YOUNG AS SEVEN YEARS OLD to begin preparation for sex change surgery. Let me repeat this again, THESE CHILDREN ARE AS YOUNG AS SEVEN YEARS OLD! Treatments begin by medicating children to postpone puberty so that they have more time to choose what sex they want to be.

Led by endocrinologist Dr. Norman Spack, the Gender Management Service Clinic is the first U.S. clinic to initiate medical intervention for healthy children on the basis of a “transgender” identification. A 12-year-old German boy who began receiving puberty-blocking hormone treatments last winter in preparation for sex-change “transition” surgery was believed to be the youngest child to receive the treatment at the time.

The Boston clinic will reportedly offer the treatments to children as young as seven years old, according to researcher Ari Taube for MassResistance.

Hormone treatment of pre-pubescent children is intended to prevent normal development of gender characterization in order to ease eventual surgical procedures to complete a change of gender, which can take place once the child is about 16.

This is really disturbing. Delaying puberty by artificial means cannot be healthy to a child. And it will likely leave the child infertile even if they keep their “birth gender” according to the “doctor” that is overseeing this abusive program.

Puberty is a confusing time as it is for children and now they are going to be introduced to the idea that maybe they may not be the sex they think they are? That is sure to clear things up, huh? I don’t understand how anybody can think that telling a child this young that they may be transgendered is a good idea. Hell, at that age they barely even know what a gender is.

Thankfully not everybody thinks this is a good idea, this is what Dr. Paul McHugh, University Distinguished Service Professor of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University had to say:

“I have witnessed a great deal of damage from sex-reassignment.  The children transformed from their male constitution into female roles suffered prolonged distress and misery as they sensed their natural attitudes.  Their parents usually lived with guilt over their decisions-second-guessing themselves and somewhat ashamed of the fabrication, both surgical and social, they had imposed on their sons.”

How can the hospital agree that this is an appropriate clinic for children to participate in? We are talking about children here. I am at a loss for words, if you want to read more about this click here and here.

And by the way, if you are thinking about leaving me a comment to tell me about all of the good that Boston Children’s Hospital does, and to berate me for bashing the hospital, don’t bother. I know and understand what Boston Children’s hospital does for children. I know first hand that Boston Children’s Hopital saves the lives of many children every year, trust me. That doesn’t mean that I have to accept this bullshit.

Note to Barack Obama: Michelle is Fair Game

May 19, 2008

Barack Obama has warned the Republicans to lay off of his wife. This was in response to an ad that was running in which Michelle Obama’s words were used and compared with down to earth Americans who disagree with her.

Michelle Obama is the one who injected herself into the presidential race and in doing so she made herself fair game. Michelle Obama is the person who admitted that she was never proud of America until her husband had a more than realistic chance at becoming president. Michelle Obama is the person who said that Americans were ignorant. She is the one who said we hang onto stereotypes and misconceptions to justify our ignorance. In doing so she became fair game.

Michelle Obama is allowed to smear Americans who do not agree with her husband’s policies and we are not supposed to fight back. This seems to be becoming a trend in the Obama campaign. Whenever someone points out a position that Obama has that a person disagrees with, that person is said to be attacking Obama. God forbid that someone speaks out against a politician’s viewpoints. It is called debating the issues, yet Obama portrays it as a personal attack.

Michelle Obama injecting herself into the race is no different than Bill Clinton injecting himself into the presidential race. Bill Clinton made an ass out of himself during the campaign and probably single handidly cost Hillary the nomination, and that was widely debated and discussed. As it should be. He made himself the story and so it is justifiable to use whatever he said against his wife. The same goes for Michelle Obama. She has made herself the story and as such America can debate and discuss her and whether they believe they want her as first lady. There is nothing wrong with debating her comments, if she or Barack didn’t want to debate what she said, she shouldn’t have said anything.

Just as former President Bill Clinton learned, when you become the story you can’t necessarily control the story.

 Michelle Obama is fair game.

Why I am Leaving the Republican Party

May 19, 2008

I am going to leave the Republican party. I have been a registered Republican since I was eighteen years old and I became old enough to vote. That doesn’t mean that I have always voted for Republicans, but that was my party affiliation. That is about to change. As soon as I have a day off and I can get to the town hall I am going to undeclare.

This is not being done on a whim. I have been giving this serious thought for quite some time now, and I am not just spouting off. I don’t know what happened to the party that used to be for smaller government and reduced spending. It is sad actually that they have driven me to this, but it is what it is.

I still have not been able to come to grips with the fact that John McCain, the man who has spit in the face of conservatives for eight years, has won the Republican nomination. I can’t accept it. But it is more than just that. John McCain just symbolizes where the Republican party and it’s voters appear to be headed. The party is beginning to “re-brand” itself. That is the term that is being thrown around, but what does it mean?

What I think it means is the fact that the Republicans are throwing away their core values in an effort to get re-elected rather than running on them. This is appalling to me. Either you have core beliefs or you don’t. If your beliefs change because you need to win re-election you are nothing but a political whore and I have no use for you. If a person is willing to compromise his beliefs, he has none. And that is where the Republican party stands right now. This was quite evident most recently by Arnold Schwarzenegger who proclaimed the party must move to the left, the last straw for me. The Republican party is moving left for political gain.

On the issues of spending, immigration, borders, and global warming to name a few, the Republican leadership is on the wrong side. And to be perfectly honest, I don’t trust John McCain when it comes to appointing judges, especially with a large Democrat majority in the house and senate. He will just “reach out” and appoint judges the Democrats approve of in order to “get things done” and to hell with conservative judges.

I can think of no other way to voice my displeasure with the party other than to leave it as a sign of protest. They don’t listen if you write to them and they probably won’t listen to this either, but it has to be done. Maybe the fact that their base is constantly shrinking will be enough to slap them in the face and wake them up. As the Thomas Jefferson quote quote in my sidebar says, on matter of principle, stand like a rock. I consider this a matter of principle. Principle is more important than party. So where do I go from here? I don’t know.

I have been reading lately about the New Hampshire branch of the Libertarian party, as a matter of fact that is where I found the Thomas Jefferson quote. I love allot about what they stand for but some of it seems to go against one of my biggest bones of contention. And that is the fact that there is this whole “no consequences for your actions” mentality that has crept into American society. And that attitude is prevalent in the Libertarian party. I am able to somewhat, but not fully, justify it however by the fact that as long as your actions hurt nobody other than yourself it is deemed okay.

I have also been reading about the New Hampshire Constitution Party, this seems to be a real fringe party that just had their first convention last year. Their motto is “principle over politics”, which is what I have been writing about here today. That is certainly appealing as is their party platform:

 *Repeal the Unconstitutional Income Tax

*Protecting the Inalienable Right to Life of All, including the unborn, elderly and infirmed

*Protect the Individual Right to Keep and Bear Arms

*Comprehensive Immigration Reform

*Promote Pro-family Policies

*Maintain a Strong National Defense

*Restore National Sovereignty, including withdrawal from the United Nations

*End Federal Subsidies for welfare and education

*Protect the inalienable rights of Liberty and Private Property

*Abolish corporate welfare

I am conflicted, I don’t know where to turn and I don’t know where to go. All I know for sure is that I am turning my back to the party that has turned it’s back on me. I am tired of fighting for a party that refuses to fight for itself.

As the government grows, spending increases, and our borders remain open, I have to ask what happened? How did it go wrong? I just don’t know. But I can’t be a part of it anymore.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Says the Republican Party needs to Move Left

May 18, 2008

Rino Arnold Schwarzenegger believes that the Republican party needs to move to the left. This is really nothing new, but with the emergence of John McCain as the Republican nominee that appears to be where the Republican party is headed.

Here is what Arnold had to say recently:

“The Republican idea is a great idea, but we can’t go and get stuck with just the right wing,” Schwarzenegger said. “Let’s let the party come all the way to the center. Let those people be heard as much as the right. Let it be the big tent we’ve talked about.”

By moving to the center Republicans would be moving further left. The Republican party isn’t ruled by or “stuck with” the right wing as Arnold says. If it were, Mike Huckabee would be the disastrous nominee instead of John McCain. If either party is ruled by the fringe wingers it is the Democrats. They are controlled by the moveon.org types, just let someone in the Democrat party suggest that the Democrats need to move to the center and watch the insuing outrage. Let Obama or Hillary play to the center and watch the fireworks begin. The truth is that with John McCain as the disastrous Republican nominee the party has already shifted left.

 Arnold goes on:

“Let’s invade and let’s cross over that (political) center,” he said. “The issues that they’re talking about? Let them be our issues, and let the party be known for that.”

Now he is saying we need to cross over the center. That would put us on the left, wouldn’t it? He wants us to make the left’s issues the right’s issues as well. I have news for you Arnold, the issues belong to both parties. We are just on different sides of these issues. By crossing over, Republicans would be giving up what they supposedly believe in.

When a person is willing to compromise his beliefs, he has none. The Republican party is now seemingly willing to compromise their beliefs. How else can you explain the nomination of John McCain.

I am tired of fighting for a party that won’t fight for themselves, that’s all I have the patience for tonight. This is the last straw, I am leaving the Republican party. Stay tuned.

New Hampshire Governor John Lynch is Having Trouble Leading his own Party

May 18, 2008

Governor John Lynch likes to think of himself as a leader. During his re-election campaign he talked about all his successes during his first term while working with a Republican majority as proof of his leadership and skill at working with both parties.

Now that he has been re-elected and he has a Democrat majority a funny thing has happened. Suddenly he is no longer able to lead, suddenly his own party is denying him his legislative agenda.

It all started two weeks ago, when in order to prevent huge budget deficits because of his irresponsible budget, he decided to raise taxes and fees once again. He proposed multiple “sin tax” increases but the Democrat controlled legislature decided to hold off raising the cigarette tax to study how much revenue would come into the state without raising it. Massachusetts is raising their cigarette tax and Democrats in the house and senate think that if New Hampshire also raises the cigarette tax it will discourage more Massachusetts residents from coming here to buy cigarettes and would cause a drop in revenue.

Governor Lynch didn’t even bother to wait to assess the projected revenues of Massachusetts residents coming to New Hampshire to buy cigarettes with the potential drop in cigarette sales by Massachusetts residents in New Hampshire if New Hampshire also raised the taxes. Hell he didn’t even wait for the Massachusetts cigarette tax increase to be approved. He had dollar signs in his eyes and if Governor Lynch is one thing- he is a consistent tax and spend liberal. He has never seen a tax he didn’t like and he thought Massachusetts provided him with the perfect opportunity to raise taxes once again.

But the Democrat controlled legislature shot down his proposal, at least for now. Suddenly a crack appears with this supposed great leader of man, and it occurred in his own party.

Then last week he suffered another stunning defeat at the hands of his own party. While campaigning against Jim Coburn in 2006 Governor Lynch was against a state constitutional amendment on education funding, something his opponent was for. However, shortly after the election he changed his tune recognising that Jim Coburn was right. Of course he never actually admitted Coburn was right, but it is all too evident now.

Just a very quick and abridged history of the education fiasco in New Hampshire for those of you unfamiliar. In the early nineties the state supreme court illegally ruled that the state must provide an adequate education for all children. This is erroneous as it is the town’s and community’s individual responsibility to educate their children. The court overstepped their bounds. There has been a battle on education ever since. Jim Coburn, Lynch’s opponent in the 2006 election wanted a constitutional amendment that would have taken the courts out of the education issue altogether, an issue that they have no business being in in the first place.

Governor Lynch’s amendment would not go as far as Jim Coburn’s and would actually legitimise the court’s decision. Nevertheless, he has made this amendment a staple of his second term. Last year the Democrat controlled legislature voted against the first Lynch amendment brought before them. And last week they voted against the second. These are Democrats who are voting against their great and noble leader, this has started to become remarkable to watch. And it brings a smile to my face, I have to admit.

Governor Lynch was able to paint himself as a leader while he had a Republican majority in the legislature, he was able to portray himself as a moderate when in reality the Republicans kept him in line. Now with a Democrat majority he has been exposed for the liberal he is and it seems as though Democrats, during an election year, are unable or unwilling to follow him into the abyss.

Suddenly this great leader is not even able to control his own party and his own agenda even with the huge majorities he was awarded last year. He has failed at uniting his party, never mind the state.

 Governor Lynch is no leader.
