Putting the ‘R’ in mpinkeyes
Starting today, March 1st, regular readers may notice a very slight difference here. Probably most will not, but I thought I would mention it anyway.
Being from New England I have a tendency to leave the ‘R’ off of allot of words when I speak, but today I have added an ‘R’ to my name.
As of today I am mrpinkeyes.
Mr. Pink Eyes was the way that the name was always supposed to be pronounced and if you are really interested in why the ‘R’ was missing in the first place you can read my “Why mpinkeyes?” page, which will soon be “Why mrpinkeyes?”
It just didn’t make any sense to me to leave the ‘R’ out any longer. I don’t know why it took so long to add it in anyway.
Was There a Florida Conspiracy to Screw Mitt Romney?
Robert Novak recently wrote the following:
Close supporters of Mitt Romney have been injecting into the political rumor stream an unsubstantiated report that Sen. John McCain obtained the vital endorsement of Florida Gov. Charlie Crist by promising him the vice presidential nomination.
Spreading that rumor reflects the anger in the Romney camp over the late endorsements of McCain by Crist and Sen. Mel Martinez of Florida. Until then, the Romney insiders claim, their private polls showed a lead in the Jan. 29 Florida primary that in fact delivered a crushing victory for McCain.
Is it beyond the realm of possibility that John McCain had a back room deal worked out with the moderate governor of Florida for the vice president position? I don’t think it is. Governor Crist’s endorsement did come very late in the process.
We will have to wait and see, but if McAmnesty picks Governor Crist as his vice president candidate the rumor mill will be turning. Picking Crist will not calm the tide of the anti-McCain conservatives like myself, it will just add fuel to the fire.
Was the fix in?
Democrats, upset that Americans are paying too much for gas and oil, have decided to……….make sure Americans pay even more for gas and oil.
For the purpose of this post I am going to set aside the fact that the United States government has no business regulating how much of a profit a private business is allowed to make. I am also going to set aside the fact that a growing number of people think government intrusion into private businesses is okay. This goes beyond profits, and into government intrusion into such things as whether a private business can allow smoking. But, as I said, I am going to set that aside for the purpose of talking about a little business 101.
The United States House of Representatives recently passed legislation that would raise taxes on oil companies. Big, bad oil companies. There is only one problem with raising taxes on oil companies, who do you think will pay the price for this? You and I. When the price of doing business goes up, whether it is the price of material, labor, overhead, or anything else, the price of the product has to be raised in order for a company to maintain a profit margin.
Part of the price of doing business is how much a company pays in taxes. If the government raises taxes on the oil company, the increase will naturally fall on the consumers. This is not hard to understand. The government will not be taking profits away from the oil companies, they will be taking money out of our pockets. Oil prices will rise to offset the increase in taxes. Is this how the Democrats plan to help us?
Here is what House Minority Leader John Boehner had to say about this bill:
“Unfortunately, the Democrats’ ‘no energy’ bill will only make matters worse by raising taxes and setting the table for even higher prices at the pump.”
That is exactly correct. This is nothing more than a publicity stunt by house Democrats. They know that the outcome of this bill would be higher prices at the pump, they also know that President Bush will veto this bill if it ever makes it to his desk. Democrats are just trying to win the approval of the American people by posing as if they are going after “BIG OIL” all the while knowing President Bush is going to veto it. They will then use the veto as a political tool and issue to use against the president. By vetoing this legislation even higher gas prices will be avoided but Democrats will be able to successfully paint George W Bush as being in bed with the oil companies.
It’s actually a very good strategy on the Democrat’s part, as most of the American people just don’t understand how business works evidently. They can’t lose under this scenario, the only ones that can lose are us.
The government makes more on a gallon of gas with taxes than the oil companies make. If anything, the Democrats in the house should look at investigating the windfall profits the government is making on the price of gas. Perhaps the government should give back some of their profits instead of telling a private business how much of a profit is allowed.
Iraq War Media Coverage Declines as Conditions Improve
I didn’t need this report to figure this out, but finally we on the right get some confirmation about the way the Iraq war has been covered. When the war was at it’s worst, and Americans were dying every day we got countless reports on the war and the death toll. But after the surge began to work, and the war turned in our favor, and less Americans were being killed the media stopped it’s endless reporting on the war. A look at the chart below confirms this.

You would think that as the war began to turn in our favor the media would find this newsworthy. Sadly, that is not the case. Charlie Gibson even admitted this with this report back in October:
One item from Baghdad today. The news is… that there is no news. The police told us that, to their knowledge, there were no major acts of violence. Attacks are down in Baghdad and today no bombings or roadside explosions were reported.
Tim Russert also said something to the same effect in December:
“with the surge in Iraq and the level of American deaths declining, it is off the front pages.”
The Iraq war as an issue in the campaign has even dwindled. Candidates barely even talk about the war as they try to ignore anything positive that is happening over there. Of course, in an effort to appease the far left moonbats that will always be out there, the candidates do pander to them by saying they will bring the troops home right away.
But let’s never forget the type of people these far left moonbats are:

And lets not forget these “religious”people from the Westboro Baptist Church who protest along with their children at the funerals of American soldiers:

If America wins, these people lose. And that is a good thing. If I were running for president, I would rather lose the election than pander to these people the way Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton do.
Campaign to Canada: Obama is Going to Lie About NAFTA
Politicians lie.
I know that is no great revelation, but it is very rare if ever that a politician admits he (or she) lied. It is probably even more rare that a politician will warn people he is going to lie before he does. And it is probably even more rare still that a politician will have a member of his staff phone a foreign country to warn an ambassador that he is going to lie before he does. Yet, the latter is exactly what Barack Obama’s campaign did before last week’s debate.
Within the last month, a top staff member for Obama’s campaign telephoned Michael Wilson, Canada’s ambassador to the United States, and warned him that Obama would speak out against NAFTA, according to Canadian sources.
The staff member reassured Wilson that the criticisms would only be campaign rhetoric, and should not be taken at face value.
This story was also reported on Canadian television.
In other words, Obama’s campaign told Canada not to worry about what he was about to say about NAFTA. He didn’t really mean it, he is just saying it to get elected. “Only campaign rhetoric” is the part that really gets me, along with the fact that he admits it shouldn’t be taken at face value. As I already wrote, politicians lie, but this shows an incredible amount of arrogance to actually come out and tell a country you are going to lie before you do it. Or maybe it is a total disregard for the voters you will be speaking to. Either way, I am not sure which is worse.
Voters are now being asked to vote for someone who supposedly called a foreign country to tell that country the truth, while he was about to lie to the people he wants to vote for him. Obama has now shown us that he will promise anything to anybody to get elected. How can this man be trusted? Even if he was telling voters the truth and lying to a foreign country that is no better. That would be a wonderful way for a president to start off on foreign relations. After all, America has lost it’s standing in the world according to Barack Obama, would lying to a foreign country before he is even elected be the proper way for America to regain her standing? I didn’t think so.

Hillary Clinton Plays the Gender Card…..Again
In typical Clinton fashion, Hillary is now blaming sexist America for her short-comings in this presidential race. From this article comes the following Hillary Clinton Quote:
“I think a lot of women project their own feelings and their lives onto me, and they see how hard this is. It’s hard. It’s hard being a woman out there. It is obviously challenging with some of the things that are said that are not even personal to me so much as they are about women.
“And I think women just sort of shake their head,” Clinton continued. “My friends do. They say, ‘Oh, my gosh, this is so hard.’ Well, it’s supposed to be hard. I’m running for the hardest job in the world. No one has ever done this. No woman has ever won a presidential primary before I won New Hampshire. This is hard. And I don’t expect any sympathy, I don’t expect any kind of, you know, allowances or special privileges, because I knew what I was getting myself into.
“Every so often I just wish that it were a little more of an even playing field,” she said, “but, you know, I play on whatever field is out there.”
Nothing is ever the Clinton’s fault, they are always victims. This time Hillary is a victim of sexism, while her husband was the victim of the cast right wing conspiracy. Just once it would be nice to see a Clinton stand up and accept responsibility for their shortcomings and wrongdoings. JUST ONCE!
It should come as no surprise though that Hillary is claiming to be a victim, after all the left has promoted this whole nobody-is-to-blame-everybody-is-a-victim mentality that has crept into American society, so why shouldn’t she be able to lay claim to the same type of victimization that she and the like have fostered throughout American culture?
It just really is sad to see a person who is running for president stoop to such lows. Actually, it isn’t sad, it is remarkably enjoyable.
Doesn’t it seem as though with Hillary’s 35 years of fighting for the poor, the children, the minorities, and the women, that she would have managed to help level the playing field that she claims is so lopsided against her?
Global Warming has Ended, the Earth is Now Cooling
Most reasonable, sane people realize that the earth goes through natural heating and cooling periods over time. Most thinking people realize that man is so insignificant in the scheme of the universe and on the earth that man is not responsible for heating the earth.
It now appears as though the earth’s latest warming period is over and now a cooling period will begin. This is natural cooling, not man-made cooling.
From this article we read the following:
Over the past year, anecdotal evidence for a cooling planet has exploded. China has its coldest winter in 100 years. Baghdad sees its first snow in all recorded history. North America has the most snowcover in 50 years, with places like Wisconsin the highest since record-keeping began. Record levels of Antarctic sea ice, record cold in Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Mexico, Australia, Iran, Greece, South Africa, Greenland, Argentina, Chile — the list goes on and on.
The article then goes on to say that this is all anecdotal evidence ( all the warming theories are based on anecdotal evidence) but that hard scientific fact is now backing up the theory that the earth is now cooling.
All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA’s GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously.
The total amount of cooling ranges from 0.65C up to 0.75C — a value large enough to wipe out nearly all the warming recorded over the past 100 years. All in one year’s time. For all four sources, it’s the single fastest temperature change ever recorded, either up or down.
In one year the effects of 100 years of global warming have been reversed. Yet we don’t hear about this from Al Gore and the rest of the global warming alarmists. It doesn’t fit the we-need-to-tax-the-shit-out-of-you-to save-the-planet model, so it is ignored. The truth is these politicians know that they are promoting a false crisis in order to raise the tax burden on the American people, we just need more Americans to realize this hoax for what it is. It is perhaps the greatest scandal ever created and we need to put it to an end soon.
So, if man is causing the earth to heat or cool, what is?
Scientists quoted in a past DailyTech article link the cooling to reduced solar activity which they claim is a much larger driver of climate change than man-made greenhouse gases.
Did I just post a quote from an article that has the audacity to say that the reason that the earth warms and cools is because of solar activity? You mean the sun can heat and cool the earth? How can these people expect us to believe that the sun has been responsible for warming the earth?
Slowly but surely scientists are beginning to debunk the idea that man is causing the earth to warm, and now we have scientist who say the earth is beginning a new cooling period. It is time for Americans to start to realize what the whole global warming scam is about. It is time for Americans to ask themselves why the leading advocates for global warming are politicians, not scientists. It is time for Americans to ask themselves why these same politicians tell us the only way to stop global warming is through more taxes.
The truth is that global warming is the largest attempt at a money grap by politicians in the history of America.
We can not sit by and let these politicians get away with it, we can’t afford it!
Hillary Clinton Bitches About Getting the First Question at the Debates
At last night’s debate Hillary Clinton was asked the first question of the night, to which she responded:
“Can I just point out in the last several debates, I seem to get the first question all the time, and I don’t mind, I’ll be happy to field them. I just find it curious that I keep getting the first question on all the issues.”
In other words- WWWWAAAAHHHHH, WWWWAAAAAHHHHHH, WWWWWAAAAAAHHHHH.
The Clinton campaign is in it’s final throws, to quote Donald Rumsfeld on another issue, and this is what she has been reduced to, bitching about getting asked the first question too often. It turns out that in the last ten debates she was asked the first question six times to Obama’s four. If my math is correct that would be 60% of the time. Hardly a significant number.
Is there a more perfect example of how Hillary reacts when things don’t go her way? Last week we heard her scolding Barack Obama like a child who did a poopy in his pants with her “shame on you” quote, and now this week she whines like a little school girl because she was asked the first question. Can we really trust this woman as commader-in-chief?
This is a woman that is so used to getting her way that she doesn’t know how to handle adversity and it has really been evident in the last two weeks. This woman has shown that she is actually not mature enough to handle adverse situations. And we know the upcoming years will be filled with many adverse situations.
As Hillary Clinton’s campaign is crashing and burning I can’t help but smile, perhaps that says something about my maturity. But I don’t care, I’m not running for office.
Barack Obama’s Global Poverty Bill Put on Hold in the Senate
Barack Obama’s global poverty bill has thankfully been stalled in the senate by two conservative Republicans. You probably haven’t heard too much about this bill in the mainstream media. The only place I have even seen it mentioned was in this post at Pro Patria.
Ryan, from Pro Patria, wrote in his post on February 13th that Obama’s global poverty bill could result in the United States paying a global tax to the UN. He also quoted a member of the UN who said the United States would be FORCED to pay the UN this tax.
This has been at least postponed by conservatives in the senate. Thank God. But it won’t go away, we need to stay on top of this and make sure it goes away forever. This bill was being fast tracked through the senate because of how dangerous it really is.
Cliff Kincaid of Accuracy in Media, a conservative media watchdog, said S. 2433 has been getting “a pass” from Congress. It received absolutely no scrutiny in the House last fall, when it was passed on a voice vote, and no scrutiny last week in the Senate, when the Foreign Relations Committee also passed it on a voice vote.
This would commit hundreds of billions of additional money from the United States and that money would have to come from somewhere. Any guesses who would lose out here? Working Americans.
As Ryan had written on his blog, a global tax would most likely be imposed on the United States, the same country that already gives more money for humanitarian efforts across the globe than any other country. Here is another article that implies the same thing.
“The bill doesn’t specifically mention a global tax,” Kincaid said. “No one is suggesting that Sen. Obama has officially called for the imposition of a global tax. But the inevitable result of passing this bill would be to bring on or to encourage a global tax – no question about it.”
There you have it, Obama hasn’t officially called for a global tax, but it is the only possible way to pay for this monstrosity of a bill.
The reason that I say this bill is gone but not forgotten is the very real, and most likely, possibility that we will have Barack Obama as president, with a large majority of Democrats in the house and senate. Under this scenario the bill would come back and would most likely pass, costing the United States middle class, working stiffs like me and you billions of tax dollars.
Not even “a wildly liberal Congress,” he said, would voluntarily vote for hundreds of billions more in foreign aid to fight global poverty, but a global tax, if it is “sold” for that purpose, might be more acceptable.
That line is priceless, just think about it. A Democrat congress might not be sold on the idea of committing billions of dollars in aide, but just call it a tax and they are on board. Democrats never saw a tax they didn’t like. Perfect!
If you Democrats out there think that Barack Obama cares about you, think again. If he has his way, working Americans will be paying taxes to provide health-care to people who are too lazy or apathetic to work for or buy their own insurance. Working Americans will be paying taxes to provide health-care to illegals who don’t belong in this country in the first place. Working Americans will be paying taxes to provide free tuition to illegals to attend college while Americans who weren’t able to go to college work to provide college for people who don’t belong here. Now we must pay more taxes to help the poor in other countries when we already send billions overseas to help them.
If you think Democrats care about the middle class, think again. If you think the Democrats oppose and want to tax the rich, you are half right. The only problem is that if you work for a living the Democrats think you are rich. If you work for a living you need to be taxed to support this Utopian, Robin Hood, socialistic society that the Democrats believe in.
This is Barack Obama’s vision of America, this is the Democrat’s vision of America, this is the liberal’s vision of America. If you think there is no other issue in this election than the Iraq war, think again. America’s future is at stake in this election. America is at stake in this election. Under Barack Obama the middle class will be wiped out. It is time to stand up, it is time to end this madness.
Americans deserve to keep their own hard earned money. I know how radical that must sound to liberals, but it is true.
New Hampshire Republican Mayor Gives his First Speech since Announcing his Bid for Governor
New Hampshire Republicans have two choices in the upcoming election to chose from on who will take on liberal Governor John Lynch in November. To be honest with you, I don’t know enough about Joe Kenney and Frank Guinta to have an opinion about who I will vote for. I just know it will be one of these two as I prepare to become probably the only New Hampshirite to be able to lay claim to voting against Lynch three times. At least it feels that way.
Mayor Guinta is nothing if not resilient, he has been able to hold on to power as this blue wave of pestilence has swept over New Hampshire. He recently gave his first speech since he has decided to explore running for governor, and he does bring some hope to conservatives here.
Mayor Frank Guinta yesterday blasted the state’s Democratic leadership as “disrespectful to the citizens of this great state” and promised to lead New Hampshire conservatives in a crusade against runaway spending.
“I’m the kind of individual that’s not going to sit on the sideline and watch my state change. I cannot do that,” Guinta told a gathering of Republican activists in the Lakes Region yesterday. “And if I have to go into every corner of the state and talk about the value system I have, the successes we’ve had in Manchester and how I think we can apply them at the state level, I will do that.”
I love this talk, calling current Democrat leadership disrespectful to the state and calling them out on their irresponsible spending. He is off to a good start. But what about running against John Lynch who somehow still has an approval rating at about 75% ?
He hinted, too, that Gov. John Lynch may be more vulnerable than his high approval ratings would suggest, at one point likening the two-term incumbent to the CEO of a sinking company.
“The CEO is a nice guy, great guy,” Guinta said. “But the stock is going in the toilet. You, as a stockholder, say, ‘I like that guy, but I’m going to fire him.'”
I can only hope his assessment here is correct, I have been waiting for the state to turn on Governor Lynch, yet it doesn’t seem to be happening, but with the looming fiscal crisis with John Lynch’s name all over it, the time may be nigh.
Perhaps the best part of the New Hampshire governorship is that it is one of only two states, Vermont being the other, with two year terms. This gives us the chance to fix a mistake, such as governor Lynch, rather quickly before he can do too much damage.
Let’s hope that this is the year to fix the “Lynch” mistake, if not it will cost us a fortune.
Quotes from Mayor Guinta are taken from this article.
