There really is nothing I can say about this immigration reform bill that hasn’t already been said but here goes anyway.
This bill is a travesty. I have heard from both liberals and conservatives about how awful this plan is. The American people are being sold down the river.
Sen. Kennedy is supposed to be against the out sourcing of American jobs to China, yet he is in favor of out sourcing jobs to illegal aliens. It’s not just the Democrats here, both sides have agreed on a bill that will destroy the fabric of what America stands for. The American people do not favor amnesty, which is what this bill is. Not only does it give people who broke the law to get here amnesty, it provides their families who are not even here yet amnesty.
We are being told this is what America wants.
There is “broad consensus” that “undocumented workers” inside the U.S. “should be offered the chance to earn their legalization,” Kennedy said.
There is no consensus with the American people for amnesty, who the hell does he think he is fooling?
Sen Kennedy says the immigration system is broken. Is that so? Isn’t he the one who broke it with the last amnesty bill? How did that work out?
“In 1986, Congress passed the Immigration Reform and Control Act, giving amnesty to all illegal aliens who had been in the country four years or more or were illegally working in agriculture,” said Jones.
“As a result, 2.8 million illegal aliens were admitted as legal immigrants to the United States,” he said, noting that there are currently 12 million illegal immigrants in the U.S.
That’s how.
The biggest problem we face is the fact that the house of representatives was able to kill a similar amnesty bill last year. How is that a problem? The conservative Republicans lost 30 seats in the house because the American people supposedly wanted to send a message to the president about the war. They were so shortsighted about the war that they didn’t consider the ramifications of their actions. Now we are going to pay for it. This bill is going to pass and the president is going to sign it.
Mark today’s date, May 17th, 2007. It’s the beginning of the end of this country as we know it.
Our country has been lost.
Thank you,
goodnight.
Jefferson allegedly accepted $100,000 from a telecommunications businessman — $90,000 of which was later recovered from a freezer in his Louisiana home.
What this doesn’t tell you is that it was recovered during the Katrina evacuation. Jefferson ordered a rescue boat to take him to his house so he could remove the freezer from it. When that boat got stuck a second boat came to the rescue. That boat also got stuck and a helicopter had to fly in and get him out. All this was going on while these boats could have been helping victims of Katrina.
Now the case heads to court to decide whether is office was raided legally. Evidently you are supposed to be able to hide all your evidence of wrong doing in your congressional office and nobody is supposed to be allowed in there to search for it.
Is Jefferson forced to resign as a Republican would be? No, he was appointed to the Ways and Means Committee

Hillary Clinton was Against a Timetable Before she was for it, Now She’s Against it again…I Think
From apnews:
By DEVLIN BARRETTWASHINGTON (AP) – Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton voted Wednesday to advance legislation cutting off money for the Iraq war, then refused to pledge to support the measure if it came to a vote, then said she would. At lunchtime, the New York senator and presidential candidate was asked repeatedly by reporters whether she favored the troop withdrawal legislation that had just come up for a procedural vote on the Senate floor. Her answer: “I’m not going to speculate on what I’m going to be voting on in the future. I voted in favor of cloture to have a debate.”By supper time, she had a different answer.“I support the underlying bill,” she said. “That’s what this vote on cloture was all about.”A rival Democratic camp quickly criticized Clinton’s evolving – and possibly revolving – statements.
“We’re as confused as anyone on Senator Clinton’s position,” said Connecticut Sen. Christopher Dodd’s campaign spokeswoman, Christy Setzer.
“Frankly, it’s hard to know whether it’s indecision, miscommunication or simple word games and political gamesmanship we’re dealing with. Our troops in Iraq don’t have time for poll-tested word games,” Setzer said.
Clinton sided with 28 other senators who lost a procedural vote on the measure offered by Sen. Russ Feingold, D-Wis. The amendment would have cut off money for combat operations after March 2008.
Clinton long has resisted calls from those within her own party to impose a specific deadline on troop withdrawal in Iraq, a position that has at times resulted in her being booed by anti-war activists.
At the noontime news conference, Clinton insisted she had not changed her position on a specific withdrawal date.
“This is consistent with what I’ve been saying for several years,” she said.
Even as she denied there were any mixed signals in her votes and statements on a troop withdrawal, she criticized what she called growing confusion caused by President Bush’s Iraq policy, including the appointment this week of a “war czar.”
Clinton said she wants her vote to send a message to Iraqi leaders that they have to do more to stabilize their country before the United States will commit to a longer troop presence there.
Associated Press Special Correspondent David Espo contributed to this report.
Where does the senator really stand? It depends on the day of the week:
Our troops in Iraq don’t have time for poll-tested word games,” Setzer said.
Isn’t that the truth, wait for a poll to come out and then decide where you stand.
This is what being a father is coming to in the bay state? In order to impress his son a father runs onto the field during a Red Sox game. Unfortunately he was tackled, handcuffed , and arrested. What an impression. That’s the way to teach your child disrupting the peace. What would possibly lead a father to believe getting arrested would be a good life lesson for his son?
What makes this story more outrageous is that the man’s wife and father were also there because it was Mother’s Day. The family that charges the mound together stays together I guess.
“When I looked up and saw the shock on his face . . . it was not the look I was hoping for,” a heartsick Baggott, 37, said yesterday about being arrested on Mother’s Day in front of his family. “He’s the one I hurt the most out of all this.
Not the look he was hoping for? He really thought his son would think he was cool by these actions.I understand that this is a sort of lighthearted story, but the fact that people who think(or don’t think) like this are raising the next generation of Americans is a little scary.
Not to mention the next generation of Red Sox fans.
Read about it here. Human rights groups didn’t like the fact that Mitt Romney said he would double the size of Guantanamo bay while fighting terrorism. They also didn’t like the fact that Rudy Giuliani would condone using extreme interrogating techniques if it was learned an attack was imminent. Can you picture that? Someone is about to set off a bomb or some other terrorist activity that will possibly kill hundreds of Americans on American soil, and we are supposed to be concerned with their human rights. They don’t seem to be concerned with ours, do they?
“It suggests that these guys would ignore American traditions and laws and continue policies that have severely damaged America’s moral authority,” said Tom Malinowski, Washington-based director of Human Rights Watch.
Curt Goering, deputy executive director of Amnesty International USA, said: “The pandering for votes by advocating human rights violations represents the worst by American politicians.”
I hate to admit it, but maybe Harry Reid was right. Maybe the war is lost, not for the reasons Harry Reid believes, but because we just are not going to be allowed to fight a war without one hand tied behind our back.
Scientists Reconsidering Man-Made Global Warming
The fact that a politician is the leader of the man-made global warming scam should tell you all you need to know about global warming. It is a political issue based on hypotheses with no true proven facts behind it, not an environmental issue. Al gore and the rest of the global warming crowd are hiding behind the environment in their effort to tax you and regulate your lives.
Many more scientists are reconsidering their positions on global warming. See this article.
This is what happens when a bill to surrender in Iraq is proposed that includes no pork. The same pork, by the way, that Democrats said they would get rid of during the campaign last year. But that’s a different post, for another time.
Back on topic now, why would 19 Democrats vote to defeat a bill that set a timetable for withdrawal in Iraq? The Democrat leadership has been telling us they were elected to end the war, yet 19 vote against doing just that. The answer is simple, the American people do not want to suffer defeat in Iraq and the senate knows this. They know it would be political suicide to defund our troops in harm’s way so they vote against ending the war all the while saying they are going to end it. I have to believe that America can see through this charade, I still have faith in our citizens.
The Senate on Wednesday rejected legislation that would cut off money for combat operations in Iraq after March 31, 2008.
The vote was a loss for Sen. Russell Feingold, D-Wis., and other Democrats who want to end the war. But the effort picked up support from members, including presidential hopefuls previously reluctant to limit war funding – an indication of the conflict’s unpopularity among voters.
The proposal lost 29-67 on a procedural vote, falling 31 votes short of the necessary votes to advance. Of the 67 senators who opposed Feingold’s proposal, there were 19 Democrats, 47 Republicans and Connecticut Independent Joseph Lieberman. Of the 29 supporting, 28 were Democrats and Vermont Independent Bernard Sanders.
28 Democrats voted for the bill, 19 voted against it. It sounds to me like the Democrats can’t decide what to do. They sound divided, you wouldn’t guess that though from hearing Harry Reid:
“We stand united…. in our belief that troops are enmeshed in an intractable civil war,” said Reid, D-Nev.
A 28-19 vote is united? Ask Carl Levin:
Sen. Carl Levin, chairman of the Armed Services Committee, said he opposes any measure that cuts off money for the war.
“We don’t want to send the message to the troops” that Congress does not support them, said Levin, D-Mich. “We’re going to support those troops.”
That doesn’t sound like unity to me. The only unity I see here is the Republicans, none of them voted in favor of surrender.
The suit in Ohio alleges that when the girl sought an abortion in November 2004 — she was 16 years old at the time — she told Planned Parenthood staff that her father was the baby’s father and that he had been raping her since 2000.
Evidently reporting incest isn’t as important as the right to have an abortion. How could they not report this to the authorities? It’s disgraceful.
It alleges that the employees did not comply with Ohio law, which requires them to report suspicion of rape and incest to authorities. The suit charges that failure to report the rape led to another year and a half of abuse.
This is coming on the heels of this story, where planned parenthood encouraged a girl they thought was underage to lie about her age so no rape would have to be reported.
What is happening to values in this country? How can this organization not report rape?
United States Soldier tells me of his Feelings on Sept 11th, and how the Democrats have let him Down
On May 3rd I had a post titled A US Soldier asks “Why has America Abandoned us?” It contains a link to an article of the same title written by a major in the US army. It is a very powerful plea to the American people asking what have American soldiers done to deserve having the American people and politicians desert them.
This post prompted a comment from arclightzero who also runs this blog.
Here is that comment:
There is an awful truth behind that letter. I was deployed aboard the USS Enterprise when 9/11 happened, and my battle group (which was on its way home at the time) was turned around and sent back to the Arabian Sea, where we sat for many weeks watching and waiting, not knowing exactly what was happening.
The hardest part about being in a conflict is wrestling with what’s going on back home while you’re half-way around the world fighting for a cause that you believe in.
When 9/11 happened, we were devastated. There was a great deal of dismay throughout the ship, because many of us felt as if we had failed somehow; that we who had sworn to serve and protect our Nation weren’t there when we were needed.
The greatest pick-me-up that we had was the support we received from home. The way the Nation rallied behind us was absolutely awe-inspiring. They made us feel as if we were a solid force standing between evil and home, and we took that task seriously. In October, when we finally started to fight, we fought harder and stronger than I think we could have ever expected, mostly because we had thousands of letters coming in from people back home who were reminding us why we were fighting half-way around the globe.
This is why the current attitude, spearheaded by the dems in congress, pisses me off so much. I cannot fathom how we would have responded out there had we not had the support of our Nation behind us. I can think of nothing worse than to be on the battlefield and get the message from congress that “the war is lost.”
I have to wonder what goes on the heads of these people where they think it’s acceptable to pull their public support for those serving in Iraq under the guise of “things have gone wrong so it’s better to run away than fix the problems and push forward.”
These people make me sick.
I think that sums it up so much better than I can. Do the Democrats forget that veterans still have a vote? Or do they just don’t care? Do they figure they can turn enough American citizens against the war so that the veterans who fight and vote wont have enough votes to change their current agenda of winning the white house?
I only wish the Democrats and the American people would actually listen to some of the people over there or who were over there, this fight may no longer be popular, but is neccessary and justified.
I hope the next president has the courage and conviction that our soldiers show every day.
You can read about it here, and that’s about the only place.
Can you imagine if this were the RNC? This would be plastered all over the mainstream media, I find it irresponsible and negligent that they decide to let this slip through the cracks because it doesn’t fit the mold that all Republicans are racists, sexists, and homophobes and no Democrats are racists, sexists, or homophobes.
