Happy Anniversary to Senator Ted Kennedy

July 18, 2007

Today is a day that has special meaning to Ted Kennedy. Or at least it should. 38 years ago today any chance that Ted Kennedy had of becoming president was effectively ended. 38 years ago tonight Ted Kennedy left a party, drove off a bridge into the waters of Chappaquiddick, his passenger, Mary Jo Kopechne, was killed. Sen. Kennedy went home after the accident, rumors have always been to sober up, and didn’t report the accident until the next day. All the time knowing that Mary Jo lie dying in the water. There were always rumors he was having an affair with Mary Jo, something he curiously went out of the way to deny. He tried to convince his cousin to take the fall for him. Despicable. He was also driving with a valid licence, a violation he was busted for two weeks later in another incident. Killing someone wasn’t enough to stop him driving illegally. He pled guilty only to leaving the scene of an accident.

So to celebrate this occasion I have a special gift for Senator Kennedy, part of a video of him addressing his constituents. The owner of the video does not allow embedding so you will have to click the link to see it.

Notice how he makes excuses by saying the bridge had no guardrail and was at an angle to the road? He does this even as he says he takes full responsibility.

As a special bonus, here is a link to an audio portion of a speech on the issue. I don’t know if it was the same speech or not.

This man is the second longest tenured senator next to former head of the KKK, Robert Byrd. And these two are part of what we were told would be the most ethical congress in history.

This story is so old…do you never get tired of beating this dead horse? It was a tragic accident and to use it as political material is still a morbid and weak partisan ad hominem attack, just like it’s always been. All people have skeletons in their closet. Ted just has more than most.

No, actually I will never get tired of beating this dead horse. It just illustrates how Democrats are allowed to get away with murder. Oooppps, bad choice of words, while Republicans are forced to resign for far less vile actions then Kennedy and Democrats in general.

mpinkeyes, like a blow job? Remember that? Clinton was impeached for a blow job! The Bush administration admits they tipped the scales in favor for war i.e. deceiving the American public, and they are god in your eyes. Disgusting.

Actually, Clinton was impeached for perjury. The same crime that Scooter Libby was convicted of.
