Romney Blasts Obama for his Ignorant Remarks about Afganistan

August 14, 2007

“We’ve got to get the job done there,” he said of Afghanistan. “And that requires us to have enough troops so that we’re not just air-raiding villages and killing civilians, which is causing enormous problems there.”

Those words were spoken by Barack Obama. This just further shows us why he does not have the experience in foreign policy to be president. Not only that, these words are disgraceful and show an utter contempt for any military operations. Does he truly believe all we are doing over there is killing civilians? If so, he is absolutely naive and has no business running for president. If he doesn’t believe this and he is saying it for some sort of political gain, he is an asshole, pure and simple. To denigrate our soldiers fighting to protect our freedoms is nothing butless than despicable.

Mitt Romney has decided to fight back at this lunacy, or at least ignorant statemient.

“That is a very troubling remark on so many levels,” said Romney spokesman Kevin Madden. “Most importantly, it’s emblematic of Senator Obama’s lack of experience for the job of commander-in-chief. But it’s also an entirely inaccurate condemnation of the efforts of the men and women of the United States military who are serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.”

I have to say, Mitt is not my forst choice but he does have his moments.

Naturally, Obama was unavailable for comment as his spin machine looks to correct this latest gaff.

You can read the whole article here that also shows all his previous gaffs on national security as he alternately tries to appease the left and appear as a hawk at the same time.

As much as I hate to say this, this man could be more dangerous as president than Hillary.

  It’s close though.

Barack Obama spoke the truth, the US military has killed civilians and its causing problems. Basically you just admitted that you want a president that lies to you and tells you nothing is wrong when there is actually something wrong

And you are a real retard with low reading comprehension skills to say that that statement shows “utter contempt for any military operations”

On the contrary, the point isn’t about telling the truth or admitting when there is something wrong. The point is that Obama made the (hideous) mistake in using the word “just” as in “just air-raiding villages and killing civilians.”

That is a horrible statement on Obama’s part, because it completely disregard any good that has been done over there and all of the operations that have been and are being done that haven’t resulted in civilian casualties. In fact, if you only go by Obama’s statement and had no other knowledge of the operations taking place in Afghanistan, you would have to assume that the only thing going on over there is civilian deaths, which is far from the truth.

How would you feel as an soldier on the ground over there to hear a senator and PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE make a statement like that? I can assure you that he is not making any friends in the military or veteran community by making absurd statements like that.

Speaking of absurd statements, I can’t believe that I just wrote a response to somebody who had the audacity to use the term “retard” to describe the author here, considering he hit the issue right on the nose while you’re obviously out on some far away left-wing moon. Get real, quantumd. If you’re looking for reassurance as to your ignorance and overall idiocy, go over to Kos for your daily back rub and affirmation.

    quantumd:
It must be you who has the reading comprehension problem as I didn’t say that we haven’t killed ANY civilians over there. As arclightzero points out, the key word in Obama’s statement is that we are JUST killing civilians. That is a lie. Civilians have died, but not Just civilians.
    arclightzero:
You bring up an interesting point. When all these polls are taken about the candidates on both sides, the military vote is never considered. I have to believe that these candidates are hurting themselves with these reckleass, hurtful comments.
And another thing quantumd, as a member of the far left, aren’t you supposed to be so caring and tolerent and concerned with others? I find it strange you would use a derogatory term such as retard to describe me. Don’t you realize how offensive that term is. And before you respond with the line ” I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to offend retards by putting you in with them, that would be an insult to retards” let me do it for you. HaHa funny guy.

I also find it funny that most of the negative comments I receive have no link back to that person’s own blog. Maybe these people don’t have blogs, that’s okay. But if they do have a blog they should link to it, I would check it out. Maybe they could change my mind. I doubt it though.

The military vote is actually very important. You have a large number of people whose lives are actually directly tied to politics. Elections can change many things. I enlisted at the end of the Clinton years, and bore witness to the damage that was done to the military by him and his administration. When election time came, we set up a TV in the shop and we all sat around and watched the elections knowing that our futures were riding on the next president.

People (even politicians) often write off the military as a bunch of grunts or mindless robots, but the truth of the matter is that the military plays a very powerful role, not only by their own votes but usually because their families also tend to vote along the same lines as the service members themselves.

Actually the point is wether he is telling the truth. And the truth is there are not enough troops on the ground so the military relies a lot on air raids which kills a lot of civilians and hurts the overall mission.

And even if your point is correct that it was mistake to use the word “just” the proper thing to do is wait for a clarification. The accusation that Obama shows “an utter contempt for any military operations” is so over the top and so retarded that it shows that this whole post is just a blatant political statement. Not there is anything wrong with that but im just saying…

This post should be titled “I hate Obama and and I will prove that he is an idiot and has an utter contempt for any military operations. I will prove this by taking one sentence out of a whole speech and interpreting it one way while ignoring any alternate meaning to his words”

If I was a soldier and heard Obama say that, I wouldnt jump to any conclusions I would read the whole speech and read all his other speeches to get an overall feeling to what he is all about. I wouldnt judge a candidate by one line in a speech.

    dear mpinkeyes

I never said that YOU said that we didn’t kill any civilians so I’m afraid my statements still stands that you have low reading comprehension.

But my point of “the truth” was that no politician has ever criticized the operations in afghanistan. And this silence can be interpreted as approval or that everything is ok. Obama is the first candidate to do so. If you approve of the operations or you feel that its a personal attack on the troops to criticize the operations that I can see why you don’t like Obama. Just stick to voting for people like Bush and Romney that get on TV and tell everything is alright.

I’m not a member of the far left, I’m a member of the Obama fan club I just happened to run across your site while doing a search.

I don’t feel the need to be caring and tolerant to retards.

Thats the problems with you retards, you confuse Obama with those other corny democrats on top of having low comprehension skills.

I was in the air force from 1994-1998 during the clinton years and things were fine, except for the base closing that were beyond anybody’s control so what exactly where these things the you accuse clinton of and how is it any worse than what bush has done to the military these past 7 years
