Father Sues Church That Protested his Marine Son’s Funeral

October 27, 2007

If you have never heard of the Westboro Baptist church, I will fill you in on who these scumbags are. This is a group of people who claim to be Christians that go around and protest at funerals for our soldiers who were killed in action. These bastards believe that the reason our soldiers die in Iraq are retribution by God because America is accepting of homosexuals. They have carried picket signs at some of the funerals of our fallen soldiers that read things to the effect of “God hates fags” and many other derogatory references. As a matter of fact their website is called godhatesfags.com. If you click that link, be warned, you will find articles such as “Thank God For the California Fires”, I’m not making this up.

If that isn’t enough for you check out these pictures:

Now I am really ticked off. Look at the way they are using their children to spread this message of hate against America. Look at the smile on their faces. One little girl even appears to be giving the finger while holding her “thank God for IEDs” sign. These people are no better than Islamo-fascists in my book, teaching their children to hate people, and to hate America.

One father, who had to bury his son for selflessly giving his life to defend our country, has had enough and is going after these pieces of shit. He is suing them for invasion of privacy.

soldier.jpgThe father of a Marine killed in Iraq took the stand in his invasion of privacy suit against a fundamentalist church that pickets soldiers’ funerals, saying protesters carrying signs at his son’s burial made him sick to his stomach.

Albert Snyder said Wednesday he had hoped for a private funeral for his son, Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder.

But he was not allowed a private funeral because these ignorant sons of bitches had to protest and demean the sacrifice this brave man made for this country, a sacrifice which makes their despicable protest possible. If Lance Cpl. Matthew was able to be asked, he would probably say that he didn’t agree with what they are saying, but he would fight to the death to defend their right to say it. And he did.

These people don’t understand, or they do understand and they don’t care, that people like Lance Cpl. Matthew make it possible for them to spread their hatred.

“They turned this funeral into a media circus and they wanted to hurt my family,” Snyder testified. “They wanted their message heard and they didn’t care who they stepped over. My son should have been buried with dignity, not with a bunch of clowns outside.”

Asked Wednesday about a sign that read “Thank God for dead soldiers,” Snyder said he thinks about it daily.

“I see that sign when I lay in bed,” Snyder said.

This group has actually had such an impact that several states have passed laws banning protests within a certain radius of a funeral, including my state of New Hampshire.

I don’t really care what they say or believe, but can’t they have enough common decency to let someone bury their loved one in peace? They can make their point by protesting in the streets, at the capitol, or anywhere else in public, just leave the families alone.

Fred Phelps is one of the most evil men in America. I did a post exposing him and his cult awhile back:

Kudos to the father of the Marine for suing!!!

I don’t know much about the anit-war group shown holding these signs, all smiles and such, but this sickens me more than some of the things I’ve heard from the Taliban and other radical religious groups. I wonder if these kids even know what they are saying. It appears that some adults have arranged these protests, and have set up their children, mainly their daughters for some reason, with these sickening messages. Maybe they don’t want their faces seen, so they get their families to do it for them. Shame on you! We all have a right to express our opinions, but isn’t there a line that shouldn’t be crossed? When speech becomes hate, and you infringe on someone elses’ rights (I.E. to have a funeral in peace and respect), you have committed a crime against these people and against humanity itself. Shame on these people. I hope that some day, if America falls into the hands of some evil/corrupt entity, that other caring nations would step up and help us the way we help others.
Thank God for the United States of America!

These people have never heard of dignity. They rot in my spit. Phelps is the kind of person that I would spend my life savings to beat the shit out of. That dad has my respect and his son has my respect as an American. My father served in Vietnam as a Green Beret and he knows that our country does not always make the best decision. But he will never stop standing tall when he sees Old Glory. FUCK YOU WESTBORO !!!!

This Westboro Baptist church not only says they hate the Gay-Community but African-Americans, Canada, Sweden, the Fire Department of NY, victims of 911, Christian Churches, The Pope, Judaism, America, Our American Troops, and the list goes on and on. Many of the groups they despise are specifically named on their hate propaganda, picket signs, and their many websites. They not only hate, but wish death on all that they do hate.
This sick, so called church spreads its hate through picketing in our streets, provoking attacks, with abusive vulgar language. Worst of all, they endanger their own young children, having them man the front lines in their combative demonstrations – attempting to create a confrontation and cause for one more of their frivolous lawsuits.
If a mother has given her son to this country and is putting Him in his grave, this is not the time or the place. This is not about protesters, this is about a group that calls that mother names on the way into a church to say goodbye to that son. We are not talking about FREEDOM we are talking about human decency. This is not about protesting, this is about a life of hate. They are not peaceful. They are not a “church”. They go after any thing that can get them in the news. I am all for protest when there is a reason, I have been in many. This group will protest anything to get its face on TV. It is about an old man lost in the darkness of hate, but will put his six year old grandson in danger to save himself. Do we have a real need to protest at any funeral? Is that a real Freedom.
The city of Topeka, the state of Kansas and the U.S. at large, its citizens and their Churches, schools and events are all held hostage by this “hate group” – always at the tax payer’s expense. With this group it is just not about Freedom. It is only about HATE.

You don’t allow abuse in the workplace, home, or other places. Why is abuse okay in public as long as its a certain distance away? And telling someone their child, the little person they gave birth to, fed, taught how to use the potty, showed the stars to for the first time, deserves death? That is abuse in the worst worst way. You should never wish death upon anyone, and the government should consider people like this terrorists
