Democrat House Majority Leader, Steny Hoyer Admits the Surge is Working

November 7, 2007

“Stability and a decrease in violence, they’ve done that – God bless them. I’m not surprised that they did,””I am not surprised, therefore, that when we send 20,000 additional troops and put them in an area of consequence that those 20,000 troops from the best army in the world, the best trained, best equipped army in the world brings a very heightened security,”

Those words were spoken by Steny Hoyer, the Democrat majority leader, when speaking about the SUCCESS of the surge to date. The troops are winning despite what Harry Reid WANTS to believe. These statements are sure to piss of the anti-war faction of the party so he had to tamper it down a little bit, sort of spin it as a positive for him and the rest of the Democrats. How did he do this? Simple, he just said that the president never had enough troops in the first place and he always knew it.

The thing about this is, he is right on both counts. First, the surge is a success, and it must pain him to admit it. Perhaps he is hinting with those statements that the Democrats better hurry up and end the war before it’s too late and we actually win it. Second, we probably never did have enough troops on the ground. We should have gone in there and used the full force of our military and wiped all resistance out. They would not have been able to withstand America’s military at her full force.

With the Democrats unable to end the war and with the surge working, this could be the Democrats new strategy. Unwilling to give the president any credit they are now going to say that we should have sent the surge in sooner, even though they opposed the surge when it was announced and they would have opposed it if it was announced earlier. The Democrats are trying to have it both ways.

That had to hurt admitting this!!

Just when you thought the dems couldn’t sink any lower… My own Representative, David Obey (the great embarrassment from Wisconsin), said today that the only reason the death toll is lower and the surge appears to be working is because the terrorists are running out of targets. They are “running out of people to kill.”

Of course, the logical answer from the liberal in charge of the money over there would be something that asinine. The surge couldn’t possibly be working, so this must be the answer.
