New Hampshire Boy is Going to Trial for Having Sex With His Girlfriend

February 18, 2008

A New Hampshire boy is going to trial for having sex with his girlfriend. He was 17 at the time and she was 15 1/2.  That is where his problem lies. She was six months shy of the legal age of consent in New Hampshire. He is now going to be tried for sexual assault and if found guilty will be a registered sex offender for life.

I am not going to use this post to discuss whether this boy should or shouldn’t be tried, or if this is over-reaction. The boy is going to appear on “60 Minutes” to tell his side of the story. His defense is what I want to focus on. Here is what he is going to say.

“I didn’t know there was a certain age you had to be to have sex,” said 18-year-old Damon Hadley of Henniker. “I thought if I told the truth, it’d all just go away.”

He didn’t even know he committed a crime, and why would he? I find his excuse totally believable. The message being sent by our liberal New Hampshire policians would make you assume you could have sex with a girl any age.

This is where liberalism really ties itself into knots. Last year middle school aged students were taken on a field trip to an abortion clinic. New Hampshire also repealed the parental notification law which required a MINOR to have parental permission to get an abortion. A new law about to be debated in the state senate will let a girl tell any adult she is getting an abortion if she doesn’t want to tell her parents.

What is the message that these two events tell our young children? Why would a boy think there is a law against having sex with a minor when that same minor is being taken to abortion clinics on field trips? Our liberal leaders here in New Hampshire have gone out of their way to teach children indirectly that there is no risk involved in having sex. If you get pregnant the schools have shown them where to go to get an abortion, and the legislature has also made sure that the girl’s parents don’t have to know. They are sending out the signal that the light is green, go for it. Naturally a boy of 17 is going to assume there is nothing wrong with having sex with a thirteen year old if he wants. Why not? If anything happens they can get the “little problem” taken care of.

This is what happens when the whole “there is no consequences for your actions, everybody is a victim” attitude of the liberals is spread throughout society.

This boy is now being charged with a crime that the state of New Hampshire was an accessory to and a conspirator of.

Thanks for speaking out about this. These liberals have an agenda and they are ridiculous.

Now we have to fight the IB schools. They are pushing the world government mantra right under our noses. This includes a lot of the things that seem
‘not right’, including unfettered access to abortions, euthanasia, not recognizing our Constitutional Republic — quite frankly — they are teaching treason.

Bedford, Gilford and maybe Bow, Windham and Hopkinton might end up with this horrid thing called IB.

    Check it out.. http://www.ibo.org

After you see what UNESCO says about their program, then check and see what http://www.edwatch.org says about it.

I’m a woman and think this is crazy. It’s too bad the girl lied about being raped, she really hurts women who are actually raped and have a hard time being found credible.

I’m still young (mid-20s) enough to remember my teens quite well and I knew girls who were having sex since 6th grade. And I was not in some inner city school, these were middle-upper middle class suburban kids who went to church on Sunday and Wednesday night. I’m not sure what the 6th grade sex-ed session taught because I was not allowed to attend! 🙂 So I can’t really speak to that. I will say I was very “ignorant” on those matters outside of knowing what STDs were when I went to college. The gravity of sex was impressed on me by my parents; we can’t expect schools to get that across. I do think teens make mistakes, I could have … there but for the grace of God….
I’ve never heard of a field trip to an abortion clinic. What??? Why would a middle school student need to have that information?? If a teenager really needs one, I imagine she could be referred by her pediatrician, right? When I read something like this I wonder if NH has a lot of molestation going on.

Anyway, I’m rambling now! I just wanted to say that teens will have sex no matter what adults say. I don’t know the background for the NH law. If a minor is coerced, they can file charges whether there is a law or not, right?

Teens will always have sex, that is why I didn’t go into whether I thought this should go to trial or not. To be honest I don’t think it should. This girl was having sex with her boyfriend, she just happened to be 6 months under the age of consent and he was 17. Technically it was rape.
I wanted to focus this post on the mixed messages that the government is sending our children. By showing them where the abortion clinics are and then by making it legal for minors to have an abortion without parental knowledge and then turning around and arresting a boy for doing what it seems like the state is condoning has to be sending mixed sigal sto the children.
